“San Benedetto” Lugana DOC 2022
With the Lugana San Benedetto, Zenato shows every year anew how delicious the whites from Lake Garda can be. Crisp apples, pears, flowers and spices are just some of the notes that flow from this graceful, very pleasing white wine. On the palate, it is spicy, full and harmonious and the vibrant acidity blends freshly and well into the overall picture. SUPERIORE.DE
"Pale straw yellow with delicate greenish reflections. In the nose grassy-scented, of citrus and gooseberries, in addition orange blossom, appears very fresh and young. Juicy on the palate, with a nice acidity, clear, young fruit and a light-footed course." Falstaff
"The Lugana San Benedetto 2022 is floral-sweet with lime zest complementing the crushed peach aromas. The palate is round and smooth, showing ripe fruit trees and green melon. The 2022 cleans up beautifully on the finish, where candied citrus contrasts a salty, mineral touch. It is wonderfully balanced and an absolute pleasure to drink." Vinous
"Apples and citrus peel on the nose, along with creamy minerals and floral notes, followed by a medium to full body with a silky texture and plenty of lingering fruit flavour." James Suckling

“Demesse Vecchie” Lugana DOC 2020
Demesse Vecchie is named after the village where Olivini has its family seat. The historic part of the vineyard was home to a nunnery in the late 17th century. The addition "vecchie" promises that the grapes for this very complex Lugana come from the oldest vines on the estate, some of which are over 50 years old. They are also harvested late and carefully selected, followed by several months of ageing on the fine lees.
Straw yellow with golden reflections. In the ripe bouquet orange peel, juicy peaches and memories of almond butter. Full and finely fruity on the palate, with delicate notes of vanilla and honey, some apricot and banana. A balanced, dry drop with a wonderful balance between fruit and acidity and by no means heavy or even broad, but infinitely long. SUPERIORE.DE
"Intense nose with dried-lemon slice, honeyed yuzu tea, stones and some golden berries. Generous on the palate, with a medium body that turns more mineral in the finish. Very well-made trebbiano di Lugana." James Suckling

SUPERIORE.DE
"A well-oaked white, offering generous spice and lime blossom aromatics on the nose, turning more even-keeled on the palate, with lively acidity framing flavors of nectarine, macadamia nut, tarragon and grapefruit zest." Wine Spectator
"Very mineral on the nose, with hints of fresh liquorice. The lemon fruit shows on the medium to light bodied palate in a dense bead that combines well with the mineral elements to create a long, dense finish. Nicely structured." James Suckling
"This juicy, savoury, waxy white is a product of low-yield Turbiana (Trebbiano di Lugana) vinified in steel tanks and matured in barriques. Spiced pear, apple, wood and pepper are accompanied by hints of tropical fruit. Full-bodied and fresh; perfect for smoked fish." Decanter
"Pale straw yellow, with silver reflections. White peach and elderflower on the nose, lime and a hint of flint in the aftertaste. Crisp on the palate, with fine pressure, rich fruit core of apricots, slightly salty on the lingering final, still needs some time in the bottle." Falstaff

Metodo Classico Spumante Lugana DOC 2019 brut
Elegant and extremely popular, full-bodied spumante from Zenato, which confidently demonstrates what can be extracted from the terroir with its fragrant, fresh, soft and silky style. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright, radiant straw yellow with persistent perlage. In the nose of buttered pastries, vanilla, toast, in the background fine, floral hints, citrus. Very dry on the palate, with juicy, perky perlage, shows good length." Falstaff
"A pungent wave of smoke and minerals gives way to crisp yellow apples, apricots and ginger spices as the 2019 Brut Metodo Classico Lugana blossoms in the glass. It is sharply focused and edgy with a lovely inner sweetness that balances it out. Sour citrus mingles with a salty note to add further contrast towards the end. The finish is medium long and a little bitter, but still leaves you wanting more as a hint of hazelnut underlines the experience nicely." Vinous
"All Trebbiano di Lugana. Traditional method. Three years on the lees. Impressive in terms of weight and richness that envelops the palate. A big mouthful of poached apricots and glazed quince, coated in truffled custard and almond flour. A phenolic touch of gentle oxidation on the rather sweet finish." James Suckling

The Cuvée dei Frati is composed of classic Lugana grapes and ten percent Chardonnay to round it off. “Selezione Sergio Zenato” Lugana Riserva DOC 2020
Brilliant golden yellow. On the nose, complex notes of light peach, fresh pineapple and poached apricot. On the palate, rich, creamy with accents of smoke and toasted almonds. The finish is long, mineral and herbal. This very focused and complex white paints a pretty portrait of the refined side of the Trebbiano di Lugana grape, which is growing in popularity. SUPERIORE.DE
"Rich straw yellow with a golden yellow core. Very filigree on the nose, candied oranges, ripe honeydew melon and camomile, flint and light spice. Creamy texture on the palate, mineral stretches across the palate, ripe fruit core, some vanilla, distinct use of wood on the final." Falstaff
"A subtle burst of vanilla bean and almond paste gives way to a refined and pretty blend of crushed apples, lemon oil and spices as the 2020 Lugana Riserva Sergio Zenato comes to life in the glass. The Lugana Riserva Sergio Zenato is silky and smooth, with a textural wave of ultra-ripe fruit perfectly balanced by salty minerals and tongue-twisting acidity. The 2020 lasts incredibly long while remaining wonderfully fresh, with hints of citrus custard and sweet spice still lingering. The Riserva Sergio Zenato strikes a beautiful balance between the influence of oak and the zesty character of Trebbiano di Lugana." Vinous
"It has been aged on its lees, which adds a mealy almond and sharp mineral undercurrent to the stone fruit notes. While the hint of cedar is quite obvious, there is depth and impressive savouriness, not to mention good length. It should age well over the medium term." James Suckling
"A toasty white wine with a rich array of flavours of pear tart, quince paste, toasted almonds and lemon meringue, well defined and enlivened by supple acidity and salty minerality. Medium to full-bodied, with a long, delicious finish." Wine Spectator
"Pure Trebbiano from the old vineyards of Podere Massoni near Peschiera del Garda. Notes of bergamot on the nose, then jasmine, chamomile and a hint of basil. Crisp, taut, with nice acidity and a long finish." Luca Gardini

The Dal Cero family opens its treasure trove. The 2017 Lugana vintage slumbered there in the bottle for another five years, impressively demonstrating the ageing potential of the family's Trebbiano white wines: bright, medium yellow in colour. Finely characterised nose with lots of crisp peach fruit, plenty of mirabelle plums, some flint, exciting and very complex. Smooth and round on the palate, with a broad mouthfeel. This "Riserva" shows remarkable freshness for its age, a good acidity structure and lots of present and juicy fruit. Long final, great! SUPERIORE.DE

The famous food critic Luigi Veronelli was right when he stated that it is impossible to forget a good Lugana once you have tasted it. The taste of this popular white wine is just as fascinating as the breathtaking view over the beautiful Lake Garda, where the Lugana wine is produced on a 2,200 hectare vineyard area between the towns of Desenzano, Sirmione, Pozzolengo, Lonato and Peschiera del Garda.
The eponymous Lugana DOC production zone runs through the two northern Italian regions of Lombardy and Veneto. Old farmhouses and vineyards dominate the beautiful landscape and the lemon trees that blossom here are evidence of the mild Mediterranean climate, which is actually unusual for northern Italy. In terms of weather, Lake Garda has a great influence on winegrowing, as its mild breezes favour the slow ripening process of the grapes. The grape variety from which this white wine is made corresponds to the late-ripening Trebbiano di Soave, which is also known as Turbiana or Trebbiano di Lugana by the locals.
The high-yielding vines are cultivated on the calcareous clay soils of the flat plains, which are known for being very hard and difficult to work in dry conditions and becoming terribly soft and muddy when it rains. Despite these labour-intensive circumstances, however, the winemakers agree that it is precisely these clay soils that are responsible for the wine's typically mineral style and citrus and almond notes.
Even though production regulations allow the addition of other white grape varieties at 10%, most Lugana wines are deliberately made from 100% Trebbiano di Soave grapes. Genetically, the variety is the same as Verdicchio Bianco from the Marche, but differs from Lugana in that it tastes more acidic and spicy. Our popular white wine from the Veneto, on the other hand, has a mineral-floral character with a dry, low-acid taste. The bitter, sour, sweet and salty flavours are harmoniously balanced, making each Lugana a perfect companion for snacks, vegetarian dishes, poultry or fish dishes.
The majority of the wines produced correspond to the basic Lugana DOC quality level, which is mainly fermented in stainless steel and usually drunk young. At the end of the nineties, the categories Lugana Superiore DOC and Lugana Riserva DOC were added, which mature significantly longer and are often aged in wooden barrels. Matured Lugana wines taste intensely creamy and the bitter almond note changes to hazelnut-like aromas as they age. As a rule, however, you can always recognise a good Lugana by its characteristic freshness, which is created by a pleasant interplay between acidity and structure.
Some winemakers also succeed in bringing out this specific character, both in the form of a sweet late harvest and in sparkling Lugana sparkling wines. Whether in sparkling, still, young, mature, dry or rather sweet form: The pleasure factor of this white wine is guaranteed in any case. SUPERIORE.DE
