“Keya” Chiaretto Bardolino Classico DOC 2021
Keya is the impressive result of several years of experimental work, and the result is a rosato that perfectly expresses the style and personality of the Rizzardi sites in the hills above Bardolino. The label is a tribute to the Venetian heritage of the Contessa M.C. Loredan, she ran the winery for many years and was instrumental in making Chiaretto Bardolino a much-loved wine classic of the region. The name is derived from the first two syllables of Chi-a-ret-to (KEY-A). Bright pink-red. On the nose, a delicate aroma of lemon, blood orange and elderberries. Fresh on the palate, with well-integrated acidity, dry and full of character on the finish. SUPERIORE.DE

“Cuvée XVII” Valpolicella Classico DOC 2020
Fresh, very drinkable Valpolicella from stainless steel without wood. Bright ruby red with light reflections. Characterful bouquet of dark cherries with a hint of black pepper. Medium pressure on the palate, good structure and depth, clear fruit, then smooth with a spicy vein on the finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2020 Valpolicella Classico Cuvée XVII is spicy and remarkably fresh with peppery florals and bright cherry fruits. This is a juicy and pliant effort, with a salty tinge to its red berries giving way to violet inner florals. It’s crisp and perfumed through the medium-length finale." Vinous
"A fairly lightweight young red, but there’s a decent core of black fruit and herbs. Juicy and fruity with light but firm tannins adding focus and some structure." James Suckling
"Cinnamon-like nose with fragrant red and black fruit notes. Quite concentrated, round and ripe, with fair acidity." Wine Spectator

“Tacchetto” Bardolino Classico DOC 2019
The grapes for this Bardolino Classico come from the Tacchetto vineyard, located at the foot of the Adige Valley near the village of Cavaion. The success pattern of this extremely popular red is easy to describe: a unique terroir of sand, scree and limestone and an always well-ventilated site. Intensely fragrant and engaging. On the palate, the clear and unambiguous structure and, as the drink continues, a silkiness that catapults it from a standing start into the hearts of Bardolino lovers. SUPERIORE.DE

“Pojega” Ripasso Valpolicella Classico Superiore DOC 2019
Pojega is a historic vineyard next to the famous Pojega garden, bought by the Rizzardi family in the 17th century. This single-vineyard Valpolicella skilfully combines the fruitiness and the aromatic richness of the traditional grape, enhanced by the Ripasso process, with a well-proportioned body and extraordinary finesse. Great value with an almost magnetic appeal! SUPERIORE.DE
"Ripe, slightly dried red berries and cherries on the nose and palate. Medium body with light, integrated tannins and a more savory finish. All in order and well made." James Suckling
"The 2019 Valpolicella Classico Superiore Ripasso Pojega captivates with a heady yet incredibly pretty mix of medicinal cherries, exotic spice, lavender and crushed violets. This is seamlessly smooth and silky while slowly saturating the palate in primary concentration. There’s a herbal streak throughout, adding depth when contrasted against the wine's balanced inner sweetness. This leaves a chalky sweet spice like violet candies upon the palate, while remaining lightly structured and hauntingly long and floral. A heady yet very fine Ripasso." Vinous

Recioto di Soave Classico DOCG 2018 dolce
This white dessert wine with DOCG status consists of 100% Garganega, its grapes come from selected volcanic plots of the Costeggiola vineyard in Soave, where the grapes are virtually predestined for drying due to the high age of the vines (22 to 50 years) and the thus very manageable yield. This takes place for three to five months in the "fruttaio", the subsequent ageing of the wine takes place for 30 months in stainless steel tanks and 5 hl wooden barrels.
Very concentrated nose of stone fruit, lemon zest and honey. Then opulent on the palate with a good balance of sweetness and acidity - overall, this dessert wine is very fresh and rounded, making it an excellent companion to not-too-sweet desserts and perfectly matured soft cheeses. Just 2,666 numbered bottles go on sale with each vintage. SUPERIORE.DE

“3 Cru” Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOCG 2016
The youngest offspring of Guerrieri Rizzardi's Amarone family comes from three cru sites in the commune of Negrar, including the best vineyard Calcarole. The grapes are dried without technical aids for 3-5 months in the drying rooms of Pojega. 3 Cru is accessible earlier than Villa Rizzardi or Calcarole and offers complex aromas of dark fruits with a very pleasant sweet spiciness on the palate. Fresh and lively, it glides into a respectable finish with plenty of character. SUPERIORE.DE

“Villa Rizzardi” Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva DOCG 2015
The grapes for the house's Amarone classic come from the vineyards of the ancestral home in Negrar, the vast majority of them from the top Pojega site from vines that are around 35 years old. They are 100% dried in small boxes in the historic rooms of Pojega. The 2015 edition is allowed to carry the addition Riserva for the first time and offers an ideal balance between bright acidity and extract sweetness. Full-bodied and concentrated, but always fresh and lively. An Amarone that has all the components to mature excellently. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright, rich ruby red. In the nose after milk coffee, cinnamon powder, rich cherries and plums, in the aftertaste noble use of wood. On the palate with clear fruit play, opens radiant and full, juicy, spans a wide arc into the final." Falstaff
"The 2015 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva Villa Rizzardi is dark and imposing in the glass, grumbling up with ashen crushed stone, tobacco and black cherries offset by a hint of candied citrus. This is velvety and weighty, almost glycerol, yet it remains cool and collected, with mineral-tinged red berries and sweet inner florals. It tapers off long, leaving the palate drenched in opulent ripe red and blue fruits, as hints of dark chocolate and tobacco linger." Vinous
"Super, linear, modern-style Amarone with a lovely blend of fresh and dried fruit on the nose and palate. Focused spice adds to the complexity. Full-bodied with slightly firm tannins that are coated with spice, bright fruit and minerals. Focused and long, but still tight. This reads 16.5%, but there’s certainly no alcohol alert on the nose or palate. Excellent quality here, but wait. This is for the cellar." James Suckling

“Calcarole” Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva DOCG 2015
Amarone Calcarole is only produced in small quantities in the best vintages and has officially been allowed to bear the label Riserva since the 2015 vintage. The single vineyard of the same name is located above Villa di Rovereti in the heart of Negrar in the Valpolicella Classico region. The vineyard offers ideal conditions for great red wines due to its particularly warm climate and stony soil as well as its south-western exposure. The grapes are 100% dried in small crates in the historic rooms of Pojega. A wonderfully intense balsamic wine with memories of rosemary oil, damp forest floor and dried ginger. On the palate, complex berry flavours and a wonderful depth, Calcarole is thoroughly masculine, energetic and powerful, with tightly woven tannins and clearly structured. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright ruby red. Fragrant nose, of ripe cherries and ripe plums, dried rose petal, underpinned by fine spice. Compact and noble on the palate, with beautiful juice, shows tight, polished tannin, tightens up nicely and lingers for a long time." Falstaff
"There’s a tight bead of dried red berry and koji berry running through this from start to finish. Along the way are still firm tannins that even out the full-bodied feel and create a focused engine to drive the fruit through the long finish. Feels like a new-wave style of Amarone, with tighter control applied to the dried-fruit character. Delicious now, but will benefit from another year in bottle. Try from 2023." James Suckling
"The 2015 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva Calcarole is dusty and floral, unexpectedly lifted and airy, showing dried roses and cherries offset by a hint of sweet smoke. This is opulent and rich, like crushed velvet on the palate, with mineral-tinged raspberry and cherry complemented by confectionary spices and balsam herbs. The 2015 somehow maintains amazing energy and finesse but make no mistake about it, this is a big and ripe style for Amarone. That said, you can’t even notice the 17% abv." Vinous

The historic Guerrieri Rizzardi winery is the result of the merger of two noble Veronese families: the Counts Guerrieri, owners of a centuries-old estate with vineyards and cellars in Bardolino and the Counts Rizzardi, who bought back their vineyards in Negrar in the Valpolicella area in the middle of the 17th century and then had the historic cellar of Pojega built. The first Rizzardi bottles were produced in 1678. In 1970, Guerrieri Rizzardi acquired an estate in Costeggiolo, Soave. Nowadays the Guerrieri Rizzardi is the only wine producer in Veneto to have the best locations in the three well-known Veronese Classico wine regions. The traditional winery, which has recently been able to increase its high-quality standards at an ever-faster pace, also owns a small estate with vineyards in Dolcè in Valdadige. The first label, Guerrieri Rizzardi, dates back to 1914. Today the company is owned by the Rizzardi family.
The grapes used for the wines of the Rizzardi wines in Valpolicella, Bardolino and Soave come exclusively from their own vineyards, cultivated with great care and vigilance and planted with local grape varieties but also international grapes where suited. The yield per hectare is significantly lower than the maximum quantity laid down by law for the respective cultivation area. Only natural compost is used to fertilise the vines.
As the very old cellar in the centre of Bardolino near Lake Garda had become too small, a new cellar for Lake Garda wines was inaugurated in 2011 on a hill above the town. It meets all the requirements of modern production and logistics as well as being solar powered. On the one hand, the processing of the grapes is less complicated there. On the other hand, individual processes can be controlled even more carefully than before at the second location. The Negrar site remains the centre for the production of Valpolicella. The wines of Soave are vinified in the Costeggiole cellar. In the old and new cellars, under the supervision of oenologist Giuseppe Rizzardi, elegant wines with a strong character and a high identity of origin are created.
Guerrieri Rizzardi has received many awards from renowned wine critics. Since 2015 the winery has been a member of the "Amarone Families" – a group of 13 producers dedicated to protect the integrity of Amarone, one of Italy's best-known red wines, as a precious, exclusive brand and to promote its image and sales on the international markets.
