!["Limizzani" Vermentino di Gallura DOCG 2024]()
“Limizzani” Vermentino di Gallura DOCG 2024
A Vermentino with lightness and voice that epitomises the granite landscape of Gallura as well as the fresh sea breeze. The name Limizzani is reminiscent of ancient Mediterranean places of worship and lends the wine a mystical flavour – a northern Sardinian reminiscence that resonates in every sip. The grapes come from our own vineyards near Arzachena. Hills with sandy-granitic subsoil, close to the coast and aerated. The limestone-rich soils provide minerality, while the Atlantic wind adds freshness – the result is a refreshing base note with aromatic clarity. The style in the vineyard and cellar follows a purist path: Hand-picking, gentle pressing, static temperature fermentation in stainless steel and around six months on the fine lees, no wood notes, but maximum varietal purity.

!["Naracu" Cannonau di Sardegna DOC 2022]()
“Naracu” Cannonau di Sardegna DOC 2022
A wine that tells of its origins and is also an invitation – naracu is an expression of Sardinian culture turned to stone, named after the mighty nuraghi that dominate the landscape. In the glass, Naracu is a medium-deep ruby colour with a delicate violet hue. The nose is precise and inviting: red berries and redcurrants, a hint of Mediterranean herbs and subtle mineral notes that give a sense of the Nordic wind. Clear and fresh on the palate – lean structure, juicy fruit and lively acidity. The finish is elegant, energetic and characterised by salty, mineral notes – a light pressure that lingers for a long time. Naracu is a Gallura-Cannonau that combines origin and vibrancy – it cools, refreshes but remains present. A purist red wine for modern palates: respectful, always harmonious and charmingly captivating. SUPERIORE.DE

!["Sincaru" Cannonau di Sardegna DOC 2022]()
“Sincaru” Cannonau di Sardegna DOC 2022
Grandiose Cannonau with a clear will: Sincaru ("serious") has a beautiful dialectic in its name and the sunny elegance of the Gallura terraces in the glass. 100% Cannonau from sun-drenched vineyards near Arzachena, on calcareous-sandy granite soil, clear mineral depth. The sea breeze with its cool nights ensures lively freshness and varietal typicity. In the glass, Sincaru has a dark ruby red colour with a subtle garnet rim. The aroma is open and aromatic: blackcurrant, ripe sour cherry, Mediterranean herbal notes and a hint of bergamot, carried by a fine, salty minerality. On the palate, the wine is round and supple, with lively acidity and softly coated tannins. The finish is clear, persistent and savoury-mineral – typically Gallura, elegant and full-bodied. A masterful Cannonau with a charming, contemplative character that makes you want to discover it. SUPERIORE.DE

!["Sciala" Vermentino di Gallura Superiore DOCG 2024]()
“Sciala” Vermentino di Gallura Superiore DOCG 2024
"Fruit that bears richly" ... the meaning of the name. Sciala evokes images of golden grapes in the warm light of the Gallura autumn. Here, millennia-old memories and modern precision come together to create a Vermentino that is considered the style-defining work (not only) of Surrau. The 2024 vintage in Gallura was strong in character and balanced at the same time – characterised by plenty of warmth from the sun, yet plenty of cooling sea air and the exposed altitude ensured concentrated fruit and aromatic elegance. In combination with a late, selective harvest, this beautiful vintage marks a highly lively expression between strength and finesse.

!["Pentima" Cannonau di Sardegna Riserva DOC 2021]()
“Pentima” Cannonau di Sardegna Riserva DOC 2021
A wine like a Sardinian epic: Pentima bears the name of its place of origin, a tiny spot in the Surrau Valley, and also the soul of past generations. This Riserva is a broodinghomage to the terroir that has an impact far beyond the borders of Gallura. The 2021 vintage had long periods of sunshine with cool sea nights – ripening was therefore intense but never overheated. The grapes were harvested late and, as always, selectively, allowing them to ripen fully in terms of structure and flavour density. A vintage that allowed for both stature and finesse and significantly shaped the complexity of this great Riserva. Fermentation took place in large Slavonian oak barrels, followed by 18 months of ageing.

!["Barriu" Rosso Isola dei Nuraghi IGT 2018]()
“Barriu” Rosso Isola dei Nuraghi IGT 2018
The name Barriu – in Sardinian dialect a word for "load" or "burden" – refers to the traditional unit of measurement that was once used to measure the carrying capacity of a donkey. One barriu was equivalent to around 100 Liters of wine, a symbol of a rural world in which every load had weight – physically and symbolically. Vigne Surrau uses this metaphor to give its most powerful red wine a name that combines origin, strength and identity. Barriu is Sardinia in traditional rhythm, born in Gallura, where sun, wind and granite create a dramatic stage for great red wines.

Vigne Surrau is a young winery with respect for tradition. Which sounds a little confusing, but it says it all. On the one hand the modern, architecturally remarkable cellar buildings, which blend harmoniously into the landscape, on the other hand the traditional grape varieties and the preservation of terroir and origin. In the north-eastern part of Sardinia, near Porto Cervo, high above the popular bays of the Costa Smeralda, the granite formations of the Gallura formed a bizarre landscape. Tough to work with, but extremely mineral. The heat of the day is opposed by the steady 'pulito vento maestrale' – the wind, which aerates the vineyards with a cooling sea breeze – and thus creates a unique micro-climate zone, which with its strong temperature differences between day and night makes this wonderful fruit in the grapes possible.
The Demuro brothers recognised the potential of this unique landscape and founded the winery in 2004. The more than 50 hectares of vineyards are crossed by two rivers, which provide additional cooling and ventilation. Traditionally, they have used classic varieties that have been native to Sardinia for centuries and are therefore considered autochthonous, first and foremost the white Vermentino di Gallura, a variety of Vermentino that feels particularly at home in coastal regions. This grape variety, grown from old vines, is cultivated here in three versions, which have repeatedly been awarded prizes in the most important Italian guides. Tre Bicchieri at Gambero Rosso, Grande Vino at Slow Food and the coveted crown at Vinibuoni d'Italia.
The red wines also come from old grape varieties such as Cannonau di Sardegna, Carignano and Muristello, also called Bovale Sardo. They are aged as pure varieties or filled as cuvée. The grapes are only harvested at night when the temperatures are cool enough. After strict selection, the type of fermentation and storage used is decided. Steel tanks, new cement tanks, French oak barriques or large Slavonian wooden barrels. The traditional varieties are available in all modern and classical cultivation methods, so Vigne Surrau more than lives up to its credo. SUPERIORE.DE
