• Lacryma Christi del Vesuvio Bianco DOC 2018

Lacryma Christi del Vesuvio Bianco DOC 2018

A wine with a prestigious name and a pretty legend: God cried when he found a corner of heaven stolen by Lucifer and there, where his tears fell, the Lacryma Christian vine grew. The extraordinary power of the area around Vesuvius where the lava fights in the volcanic rock gives this splendid wine. SUPERIORE.DE

"Very pale onion peel pink. Floral redcurrant and delicate herb aromas and flavors. Very juicy and saline with a high acid quality that extends the herbal and floral flavors on the long zingy back end. A lovely juicy Rosato that boasts great freshness and precision." Ian d'Agata

"This is a subtle and enticing rosé that shows light rose petals, fresh herbs, white pepper and nutmeg. Refined and tangy on the medium- to light-bodied palate, the bright acidity accentuating the carefully wrought stone fruit." James Suckling

“Novaserra” Greco di Tufo DOCG 2018

Generous bouquet of yellow peaches and aniseed. Mature, yet incredibly fresh fruit on the palate, very harmonious and varied. In the long final we discover, besides a mineral note, also a delicate touch of caramel, very nice interpretation of a Greco di Tufo. SUPERIORE.DE

"The 2018 Greco di Tufo NovaSerra is a smooth and steady expression that delivers stone fruit, Amalfi lemon, pear and sweet almond blossom. There is a pretty mineral note on the close that recalls volcanic ash or flint. The wine's fiber is naturally lean; however, you get nice persistency and tonic freshness nonetheless." Robert Parker

Radici Fiano di Avellino DOCG 2018

Mastroberardino is particularly interested in the old grape variety Fiano. It was already cultivated by the Romans, who called it Vitis apiana because of its special attraction to bees (apis). The result is a wine - straw-yellow and wonderfully aromatic with a spicy honey and nut bouquet. The characteristic taste is very harmonious. SUPERIORE.DE

    • Radici Taurasi DOCG 2015

      Radici Taurasi DOCG 2015

A very special wine made from overripe and strictly selected Aglianico grapes, which thrive on Mastroberardino's south facing vineyards. The Taurasi is stored in oak barrels for two years and rests in the bottle for one year. A wine with a fascinating personality, strength and an extremely high ageing potential. SUPERIORE.DE

"Mid ruby. Grilled meat, nutty spice and smoke, with overripe red-cherry fruit beneath. Focused, ripe red-cherry fruit on the palate, with precision of fine-grained, fairly firm tannins. Precise, direct and linear, but by no means simple, carrying smoky, saline, rocky mineral savoury layers. Long. Classy." Jancis Robinson

"The Mastroberardino 2015 Taurasi Radici is a dark and savory wine with thickly stacked aromas of black fruit, tar, licorice and campfire ash. This is a baritone Taurasi from a warm and sunny vintage that boasts concentrated and rich flavors as a result. Despite the evident power you get here, Taurasi has a beautiful manner of staying focused and sharp nonetheless. This wine demonstrates that quality very nicely." Robert Parker

"I love the spicy and lifted notes here of caramelized orange peel, dried meat, blackcurrants, pomegranate, sea urchin and bark. A seamless and wonderfully elegant, medium-bodied palate follows with finely grained tannins and loads of floral undertones. This wine is all about transparency and subtlety. Best Radici in years." About the winemakers
    Mastroberardino
    Campania
    Mastroberardino

Which wine producer can really claim to have revived the native grape varieties of his region? The Mastroberardino family, however, has every right to do so, since without their exceptional commitment to research and cultivation, the wonderful ancient Campanian grapes of Fiano, Greco, Falanghina, Piedirosso, Aglianico and Coda di Volpe would probably have died out after the Second World War. Located in Atripalda, near the provincial town of Avellino, the winery is known not only for its determination and modernity, but also for its biodiversity. Even today, the family, who exported their wines from Irpinia to South America at a very early age, still works hard to preserve history: years ago, Mastroberardino was commissioned to replant vines in the Pompeii excavation site exactly where they once stood. Founded in 1878, the large southern Italian wine house is now managed by Piero Mastroberardino.

The winery not only has a long history with a great tradition of red and white wines, but is also well equipped to meet the challenges of the future, not least thanks to a number of projects. It is still located in Atripalda, but the centre of the Wine House, which has had a strong influence on Campania's wine history over the past two centuries, is in the Radici Resort di Mirabella Park, where the research laboratories are also located. In addition to a wellness centre and the Mirabella Golf Club, guests can also dine in the Morabianca restaurant on the 60 hectare area. The park also contains the largest cultivated vineyard in Irpinia, which reaches an altitude of 400 metres. Here the grapes grow for a great wine from southern Italy - the Radici Taurasi DOCG. Even today, the winery still has some of the rarest wines of this format from the twenties and thirties that can be enjoyed very well.

In the course of time, the Mastroberardino winery has considerably expanded its collection, the wide range of wines leaves nothing to be desired. This assessment applies equally to all top red and white products, but the base wines are also very solid and convincing. Piero Mastroberardino, who was awarded the International Prize at the Vinitaly wine fair in Verona for his outstanding services to wine, is always happy to talk shop with connoisseurs who, for example, really appreciate a white wine that has matured for ten years.
