Lacryma Christi del Vesuvio Bianco DOC 2021
A wine with a prestigious name and a pretty legend: God wept when he found a corner of heaven stolen by Lucifer, and there, where his tears fell, grew the Lacryma Christi vine. The extraordinary power of the area around Vesuvius, where the lava fights in the volcanic rock, results in this magnificent wine.
Mastroberardino's Lacryma Christi del Vesuvio is a varietal Coda di Volpe that flirts with sweet melon and pear, complemented by notes of incense and exotic spices. A pure and soothing expression, it is also very tasty, with mineral orchard fruit that fades into floral notes towards the end. A salty note runs through the final as it ends fresh and clean. Radici Fiano di Avellino DOCG 2019
Mastroberardino makes a special effort to cultivate the ancient grape variety Fiano. It was already cultivated by the Romans, who called it Vitis apiana because of its special attraction to bees (apis). It produces a wine - straw yellow and wonderfully aromatic with a spicy honey and nut bouquet. The characteristic taste is very harmonious. SUPERIORE.DE
"This is lightly creamy and minerally, a light-bodied white with an overtone of smoke and stone layered with the well-cut acidity and flavors of Asian pear, pickled ginger and lemon thyme." Wine Spectator
"This is a fun and versatile white wine. The 2019 Fiano di Avellino Radici is fresh and buoyant with white peach, crushed stone, honey and sage. This is an exceedingly fresh and snappy expression of Fiano, with good acidity and tension, promising an easy pairing with a Neapolitan "pasta cas' cucuzziell e ova," a cheesy pasta with zucchini and eggs." Robert Parker
"Exotic-fruit, pear and white-spring-flower aromas mingle together with a delicate whiff of smoke. The savory, vibrant palate features white stone fruit, lemon drop and a hint of honeyed almond alongside tangy acidity. A saline note adds depth." Wine Enthusiast
"The 2019 Fiano di Avellino Radici is remarkably fresh and vibrant, showing ripe pear with hints of mango. A whiff of smoky florals evolve as the Radici sweeps across the senses with grace, displaying flavors of ripe orchard fruits, then savory hints of sage and minerals. The finish is long and fresh, neatly framed by a twang of residual acids with a saline quality, which begs for another sip." Vinous
"The lemons, lemon grass and dried peaches are embracing on the nose, following through to the palate with a creamy texture and a long, precise finish. Nicely focused." James Suckling

“Redimore” Aglianico Irpinia DOC 2019
Re di More is an intense and outstanding Aglianico from genuine single-vineyard Prephylloxera clones that combines richness and harmony in the most beautiful way. Aromas of dried fruits, leather, tobacco and spices are perfectly interwoven with fruit, acidity and tannin. SUPERIORE.DE
"Crushed stone gives way to sweet exotic spices, then hints of curry, and finally crushed blackberries and plums as the 2019 Irpinia Aglianico Re di More comes to life in the glass. This is silky and polished upon entry, gaining depths through mineral-tinged black fruits, savory herbs and rosy inner florals that form toward the close. Seamless from start to finish, the Re di More tapers off with a concentration of tart raspberries and hints of violet pastille that last incredibly long. This suave expression of pure Aglianico is going to win a lot of hearts. You get a little bit of new barrique spice, and it’s wonderfully integrated. This drinks like a baby Taurasi, but it’s much more accessible." Vinous

“Novaserra” Greco di Tufo DOCG 2019
Generous bouquet of yellow peaches and aniseed. Ripe, yet incredibly fresh fruit on the palate, very harmonious and diverse. In the long final we discover a mineral note as well as a delicate hint of caramel, very nice interpretation of a Greco di Tufo. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2019 Greco di Tufo Novaserra is savory to the core, with notes of dusty florals, exotic spice, and young pear up front. With time in the glass, it gains richness, taking on green citrus and a hint of hazelnut. On the palate, I'm finding this Greco to have a fresh and vibrant display, soothing the senses with ripe, citrus-tinged apple, while stimulating acids and minerals build through the long and zesty finish." Vinous
"The Mastroberardino 2019 Greco di Tufo NovaSerra shows clarity and lots of tangy lemon with white peach, quince and pear. This Greco-based wine is linear and bright with great acidity and sharp mineral tones that add focus and framing to those citrusy notes at its core. NovaSerra is the ultimate palate cleanser, especially if a plate of calamari fritti is in the works." Robert Parker
"White spring blossom, exotic fruit and peach aromas shape the enticing nose. It's savory and medium in weight, doling out Meyer lemon, honeydew melon and ripe yellow apple before a tangy saline finish. Bright acidity lifts the juicy flavors." Wine Enthusiast
"Aromas of honeydew melon, crushed stones, thyme, and dried peaches follow through to a full body with a dense palate and lots of white pepper and spice on the finish. Very typical." James Suckling

“Neroametà" Aglianico Bianco Campania IGT 2018
Neroametà is a white vinified Aglianico that represents an ancient family project designed to highlight the great versatility of this noble and ancient grape variety. It pays homage to the varietal origin of the black Aglianico grape, which presents itself with convincing elegance when vinified white without any contact with the skins, and a tribute to the territorial and cultural origins of Campania.
Light straw yellow with grey reflections. Elegant bouquet characterised by rich and complex notes of flowers, lily of the valley and citrus fruits, well blended with delicate fruit nuances and mineral hints. Fresh, spicy and decisive on the palate, with an intense mineral aftertaste. SUPERIORE.DE
"Aglianico white here, offering a melange of fresh herbs on the nose, including tarragon and spearmint, as well as darker, mineral notes. What pure-fruit character there is comes through on the palate with some spiced, baked-apple notes. But this remains essentially savory. Toasted hazelnuts, sweeter nougat and white chocolate on the finish. An interesting, sapid white that takes you in one direction, then another. Totally delicious to drink now." James Suckling
"The 2018 Bianco Neroametà pulls you close with its captivating and truly unique bouquet, mixing crushed stone with white pepper, ginger, curry, tomato leaves and the flesh of green apple. There are depths of texture, as this has an almost-weighty feel while being perfectly balanced, showing ripe orchard fruits and exotic spices that drench the palate in a slightly opulent, though thoroughly harmonious, expression. The menagerie of sensations continues through the finale, sometimes salty and sometimes sweet, with hints of melon and almond paste that linger on. The Neroametà (half-black) is a varietal Aglianico where the fruit is harvested early from a vineyard planted in soils with a high content of limestone and chalky clay. The wine is then vinified completely off the skins, creating a bright bianco with an almost greyish hue. This is an experience wine, to be sure." Vinous

Radici Taurasi DOCG 2012
The Aglianico di Taurasi grape variety represents the history and culture of Irish viticulture like no other. Mastroberardino's Taurasi never disappoints expectations and maintains its energetic personality and full-bodied structure that have made it and the Aglianico grape - also called Barolo of the South - famous throughout the world.
Only after a few years of well-deserved bottle ageing does the true potential of the Radici Taurasi become apparent. Opulent, warm bouquet of cherries and black berries, plus spicy and wild herbal notes. On the palate, it is finely meshed, elegant and envelopingly silky, the fullness and complexity of this Aglianico thrills with every sip. Even if it can still mature for many years, it is already an unforgettable pleasure. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2012 Taurasi Radici is still in the process of integrating. Under that sweet spice and toast, you definitely get a clear glimpse of the pretty fruit below. Morello cherry and dried blackberry give substance and fiber to the core of this robust red wine." Robert Parker
"Black-walnut, blackberry and black-olive aromas follow through to a full body, round and chewy tannins and a flavorful finish. Very rich and intense." James Suckling
"Underbrush, red fruit, dark spice and a whiff of menthol are some of the aromas that come together on this. The firmly structured elegant palate offers ripe plum, red cherry, licorice and tobacco framed in youthfully austere fine-grained tannins that need time to unwind." Wine Enthusiast
"Lovely hints of spice box, graphite and violet accent the pure black currant and black cherry fruit in this harmonious, full-bodied red. There's good density to this focused version, with savory wild herb and tarry mineral details showing on the creamy, lingering finish." Wine Spectator

Radici Taurasi DOCG 2014
Deep dark black red. Warm bouquet of dried cherries, plums, spices, tobacco, truffles and ashes. As the wine matures in the bottle, it presents itself on the palate smoother and silkier, the extract sweetness plays around the full aroma of black cherry and blackberry jam, in the finish then of generous length and depth. SUPERIORE.DE
"Blackberry, truffle, fragrant blue flower and plum aromas follow through to the juicy palate along with baking spice and blackberry compote. Polished tannins lend finesse and structure. It's already delicious but will also offer good mid-term aging." Wine Enthusiast
"Mastroberardino shows an impressive performance in this challenging vintage that was cooler and wetter than average. The 2014 Taurasi Radici is a rich and darkly concentrated expression of Aglianico with a generous bouquet. The wine's aromas are stacked high and tall with dried cherry, prune, Indian spice, tar, tobacco and campfire ash. Perhaps the mouthfeel is less powerful compared to a warmer vintage, but that cooling acidity and compact flavor profile suits this wine very nicely." Robert Parker
"Rather complex, earthy nose with fine blue fruit and some delicate hints of spice. Richly textural palate that’s not at all heavy, the finish long and generous with a delicate hint of sweetness." James Suckling

Radici Taurasi DOCG 2017
Taurasi Radici 2017 is a dark and tasty wine with densely stacked aromas of black fruits, tar, liquorice and campfire ash. This is a Taurasi between tenor and bass from a warm and sunny vintage, characterised by concentrated and rich flavours. Despite the obvious power you get here, it remains focused and sharp in a beautiful way. SUPERIORE.DE
"Complex already on the nose with blue and black fruit, as well as notes of nori, goudrons and spices, such as cinnamon and mace. Full-bodied with intense, almost steely fruit and mineral flavors and firm, medium-grain tannins. The quality is evident here. It’s just a bit rough at the moment and needs a couple of years to calm down and expand in all directions. Try from 2023." James Suckling
"The 2017 Taurasi Radici is a force to be reckoned with, as it bursts from the glass with masses of raspberries, currants and plums, complemented by an array of autumnal spices and crushed violets. Its textural depth and density is something to behold, silky, almost creamy, yet contrasted perfectly by a core of mineral-laced black fruits and brisk acids, as an air of inner rose and cloves forms toward the close. The 2017 is persistent and structured yet also unbelievably fresh, as fine tannins frame its smoky mineral tones, along with lasting hints of blackberry and olive. This is a gorgeous rendition of Radici that should provide readers with a slightly earlier drinking window than normally expected. That said, we are talking in terms of Taurasi here, and this wine has a very bright future ahead of it." Vinous

“Stilèma” Fiano di Avellino DOCG 2017
"The Stilèma project was born as a testimony of Antonio Mastroberardino's love for his land, his vines and his wines, for their original character." Piero Mastroberardino
The project aims to highlight the link between the vines, the wines and their territorial origins. In this way, the Mastroberardino family wants to recreate the style of winemaking of the autochthonous grape varieties of Irpinia (Greco, Fiano and Aglianico) that took place between the end of the 1950s and the beginning of the 1970s of the twentieth century for the Taurasi and between the years 1970 and 1980 for the two white wines from Irpinia. It is the unmistakable style (the stilèma) of a family that has interpreted the natural heritage of its territory over generations and today impressively highlights the true character of the terroir, which by no means can be expressed by high concentration and intensity alone.
Pale straw yellow with light green reflections. The 24 months of yeast ageing of this exceptional Fiano create a fascinating balance and complexity of the aroma profile with classic hints of flint, fine saltiness, the scent of fresh almonds, cedar wood and wild herbs. The taste is lively with a pronounced mineral note, accompanied by an inspiring freshness that gives it great drinkability and finesse. The precise and very long finish is also extremely convincing. SUPERIORE.DE
"Needs a bit of air to bring out the mix of dried-herb and jaffa-cake aromas, which persist on the medium palate, growing in intensity towards the finish, thanks to the addition of bright citrus and mineral tinges." James Suckling
"The 2017 Fiano di Avellino Stilema opens slowly, unwinding with dusty dried flowers, crushed oyster shells and incense giving way to young peaches and hints of exotic spice. This soothes with silken textures and ripe stone fruits, as tension builds through a mix of saline-minerals and lemon oils toward the close, all under an enriching air of crushed hazelnut. A salty flourish and sour citrus linger through the lightly structured finale, as the 2017 Fiano Stilema tapers off with impressive length. As gorgeous as this is today, it will only get better through short-term cellaring. The Fiano Stilema is basically a selection of a selection from Mastroberardino’s best vineyards which, in 2017, only amounted to a total of 3000 bottles in order to maintain the level of quality that the estate expects. The result is one of the most seductive expressions of the varietal that I’ve encountered." Vinous

Radici Taurasi Riserva DOCG 2015
Bright, powerful ruby, aromas of cherry, red currant, cocoa and tar. Juicy, spicy and bright, with firm acidity and tight tannins that give it definition and de James Sucklingn flavours lift. Very fresh and precise, persistent and smooth. Has excellent potential. Tasting decades-old wines from Mastroberardino (dating back to 1928), it becomes clear: the wines are monumental, immortal or at least for eternity. SUPERIORE.DE
"Super-elegant but really tight aglianico here with lightly peppery black fruit, colored with inky and spicy notes. With aeration, you move into the herbal zone, with fresh bay-leaf, chai and light rosemary. The palate is medium-to full-bodied and you feel all the aromas pent-up, ready to burst out. The tension here is palpable and this will need several more years before the firm tannins soften, allowing the wine to open up and flood your palate. Still be patient. Try from 2024." James Suckling
"The 2015 Taurasi Riserva Radici is elegance personified, captivating with a deeply seductive bouquet that blends black cherries, rose petals and cloves with hints of underbrush, smoky minerals and crushed ashen stone. With each tilt of the glass, it seems to grow in both volume and depth. It unleashes waves of silken textures across the palate, carrying notes of savory cherry sauce, balsam herbs and dark, dark chocolate complicated by earth tones, as red inner florals amass toward the close. While youthfully structured, the 2015 Riserva is almost impossible to put down, mixing sweet tannins with hints of tobacco and dark fruits that seem to last for up to a minute. Bury this in the cellar and reap the rewards, as this balanced beauty is a long-distance runner." Vinous

“Naturalis Historia” Taurasi DOCG 2015
The grapes for the rare Naturalis Historia come from a 50-year-old vineyard at an altitude of 400 metres with deep, sandy soils of volcanic origin in Mirabella. Deep, sparkling dark red. On the nose red currant, sweet spices and aromas of dark plums and red cherries. Perfectly structured in the mouth with well-dosed pressure, yet with a full body that is never broad, but fresh, supple and very agile, leading to a harmonious, long-lasting final. SUPERIORE.DE
"Always a landmark on the panorama of Campania reds, the Mastroberardino 2015 Taurasi Naturalis Historia delivers depth and generous density with dark fruit, dried blackberry, spice and campfire ash. Indeed, the oak spice and the natural mineral nuances of this wine intersect to reveal a smoky, mahogany-like ensemble of aromas. This vintage also delivers some tart cherry aromas backed by black olive and grilled rosemary. You feel the tart bitterness of the fruit tannins. Keep this wine in your cellar for a few more years." Radici Taurasi Riserva DOCG 2011 · MAGNUM in OWC
Bright, powerful ruby, aromas of cherry, red currant, cocoa and tar. Juicy, spicy and bright, with firm acidity and tight tannins that give it definition and lift the aromas. Very fresh and precise, persistent and smooth. Has excellent potential. When tasting decades-old wines from the house of Mastroberardino (back to the century 1928), it becomes clear: the wines are monumental, immortal or at least for eternity. SUPERIORE.DE
"A dry and aromatic red, with accents of cured tobacco and pencil shavings to the flavors of baked raspberry, licorice snap and tarry smoke. Well-knit and balanced, this is full-bodied, with dense tannins firming the finish. Give this some time in the cellar to shine." Wine Spectator

Radici Taurasi DOCG 2012 · 6 Bottles in OWC

Which wine producer can really claim to have revived the native grape varieties of his region? The Mastroberardino family, however, has every right to do so, since without their exceptional commitment to research and cultivation, the wonderful ancient Campanian grapes of Fiano, Greco, Falanghina, Piedirosso, Aglianico and Coda di Volpe would probably have died out after the Second World War. Located in Atripalda, near the provincial town of Avellino, the winery is known not only for its determination and modernity, but also for its biodiversity. Even today, the family, who exported their wines from Irpinia to South America at a very early age, still works hard to preserve history: years ago, Mastroberardino was commissioned to replant vines in the Pompeii excavation site exactly where they once stood. Founded in 1878, the large southern Italian wine house is now managed by Piero Mastroberardino.
The winery not only has a long history with a great tradition of red and white wines, but is also well equipped to meet the challenges of the future, not least thanks to a number of projects. It is still located in Atripalda, but the centre of the Wine House, which has had a strong influence on Campania's wine history over the past two centuries, is in the Radici Resort di Mirabella Park, where the research laboratories are also located. In addition to a wellness centre and the Mirabella Golf Club, guests can also dine in the Morabianca restaurant on the 60 hectare area. The park also contains the largest cultivated vineyard in Irpinia, which reaches an altitude of 400 metres. Here the grapes grow for a great wine from southern Italy - the Radici Taurasi DOCG. Even today, the winery still has some of the rarest wines of this format from the twenties and thirties that can be enjoyed very well.
In the course of time, the Mastroberardino winery has considerably expanded its collection, the wide range of wines leaves nothing to be desired. This assessment applies equally to all top red and white products, but the base wines are also very solid and convincing. Piero Mastroberardino, who was awarded the International Prize at the Vinitaly wine fair in Verona for his outstanding services to wine, is always happy to talk shop with connoisseurs who, for example, really appreciate a white wine that has matured for ten years.
