    • "Baccanera" Rosso Langhe DOC 2015

      “Baccanera” Rosso Langhe DOC 2015

Baccanera is an aromatic Piedmont cuvée made from Barbera, Merlot, Nebbiolo and Cabernet Sauvignon. In the spicy fragrance notes of tobacco, plum and a hint of cloves. Multilayered on the palate with fresh fruit, beautiful structure and well integrated tannins. SUPERIORE.DE

"Dark crimson. Peppery, rich dark fruit with top notes of sour cherry and mere hints of oak. Plentiful red and dark fruit on the palate and definitely concentrated, but strikes a good balance with the almost integrated acidity and coating, ripe tannins. A truly hedonistic offering." Jancis Robinson

"Powerful, juicy black fruits nose. Rich and rounded, full-bodied palate with some well-judged oak and a spicy, long finish." Decanter

"Lots of blackberries, blueberries and hints of sandalwood following through to a full body with lots of juicy tannins. A flavorful finish. A serious red that needs two or three years to soften." James Suckling

    • Barolo "Ravera" Riserva DOCG 2012

      Barolo “Ravera” Riserva DOCG 2012

Brilliant ruby red, in the nose a fully ripe berry bouquet with warm spice, mushroom and cocoa notes. Rich and juicy on the palate with sweet oak wood and lush fruit. Ravera Riserva 2012 culminates in a firm finish, in which the ripe fruit and polished tannins are once again evident. SUPERIORE.DE

"Bright ruby red. Intense, very typical Nebbiolo scent of the fine kind, fragrant cherry shades, especially wild cherry, in addition sweet tobacco, earthy notes, rose petals and liquorice. Very elegant palate, incredibly juicy with sweet spices and dried red berries. Despite its strength, it shows a certain refinement with silky tannins, piquant acidity and delicate astringency, which gives the wine a peppery freshness and animation. A racy ravera!" Weinwisser

"Mid ruby with orange tinges. Perfumed cherry and sweet raspberry with malty notes ad wet, dark earth and spice - perhaps this has seen a little new oak? full sour cherry palate completely filling out the palate, but still a little embryonic. Lots of polished coating tannins framing the ripe, supple fruit. Can already be approached, but a steak should be taken into account. Jancis Robinson

"Aromas of fresh mushrooms, blueberries and plums with orange peel follow through to a full body with layers of ripe tannins and fruit A long and flavorful finish. Loads going on here still. Just starting to come around." James Suckling

    About the winemakers
    Lo Zoccolaio
    Piedmont
    Lo Zoccolaio

The eleven hectare vineyard of the brothers Gianni and Fratelli Martini, situated on the slope of the Bricco del Barolo, is one of the young and very productive wineries in the Langhe. After numerous modernisations and extensive new plantings, Lo Zoccolaio has now become one of the leading producers in Piedmont. The estate stands for wines with more fruit, more fullness and a ruby red colour. According to the management of the estate, Barolo is prepared in full respect of its origins and the ancient traditions associated with it, without abandoning modern methods and sophisticated techniques. The winemaking process began with barriques and then moved on to larger wooden barrels. The vineyards are planted with Barbera, Dolcetto, Pinot Nero, Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay next to Nebbiolo.

In addition to Cascina Lo Zoccolaio, the Martini brothers also own Castello La Toledana in Gavi, Cascina La Doria in San Cristoforo and Villa Lanata in Cossano Belbo. The distribution of the products of all four goods was carried out under the umbrella of the "Distribuzione Domini Villae Lanata" bundled. Lo Zoccolaio produces only red wines whose grapes come from its own vineyards in Barolo, Monforte d'Alba and Novello. The double tree of life is the characteristic symbol on the labels of the house.

In addition to his two Barolo wines, the small producer became famous in the wine world for his Suculé and Baccanera wines. The Suculé was awarded the second best Barbera of the vintage by the Italian wine critic Luca Maroni in 2006. The drops produced under the supervision of oenologist Massimo Marasso convince customers with an appropriate price/performance ratio.

The Cantina Lo Zoccolaio also includes the star restaurant "Locanda nel Borgo Antico" of top chef Massimo Camia. Guests can choose from a wide range of regional and international wines and enjoy the view of the magnificent Barolo vineyards. SUPERIORE.DE

"The Cascina Lo Zoccolaio is the jewel in the Martini Brothers' estate portfolio."Gambero Rosso
