“Palazzo della Torre” Rosso Veronese IGT 2020
Exquisitely rich, concentrated and fresh in character, this Venetian has international appeal. Dried black cherry, plum and star anise are flanked by a finely woven tannin and a fresh acidity. Impeccable and a model of concentration and capacity to increase on the palate. SUPERIORE.DE
"In the past, all grapes were dried. Only Corvinone today is dried due to the large berry size and greater liquid-to-solid ratio. While the oak is evident, this is clearly a full-weighted wine built to age. With this in mind, it serves as a structural addendum rather than a scream. Dark saturated cherry notes, kirsch, licorice strap, black olive tapenade and alpine herb, bound to an edgy twine of tannins, with an underlying raft of freshness conferring a sappy, crunchy feel and fine length." “La Grola” Rosso Veronese IGT 2018
La Grola is the eponymous, historic vineyard where Corvina, the autochthonous grape of Valpolicella, is believed to have originated. The replanting of the vineyard by Giovanni Allegrini triggered an agronomic revolution and laid the foundation for the success of this wine-growing area, which today stands for convincing, great red wines from the north-east of Italy.
Dense, dark ruby red, very rich and powerful on the nose with tones of forest and overripe berries. The richness from coffee to black cherries is underpinned by present, pleasant tannins. SUPERIORE.DE
"An elegant, medium-to full-bodied version. This red is fresh and focused, with creamy flavors of baked black plum and black cherry fruit underscored by rich hints of fig cake, espresso, bay leaf and spice. Light tannins show on the iron-laced finish." Wine Spectator
"Made with 90% Corvina and 10% Oseleta, this offers aromas of cassis, baking spice and new leather. The sleek, balanced palate features ripe blackberry, tobacco and black pepper alongside fine-grained tannins and fresh acidity." Wine Enthusiast
"The Allegrini 2018 La Grola shows medium dark intensity with lots of smoky overlays, including tobacco and campfire ash. At the core of the wine is a healthy dose of ripe blackberry and plum. The wine offers the power and textural fiber to pair with a classic steak in creamy mushroom sauce." Wine Advocate
"The dark and brooding 2018 La Grola opens with underbrush and earth tones give way to dusty rose and autumnal spices. This is deeply textural and elegant in feel, with masses of red and black berries complemented by saline-minerals and a brisk acid core. There’s a peppery flourish that lasts through the finale, resonating under an air of violet and lavender, as nuances of dark chocolate linger long. This is a stunning rendition of La Grola, which is a blend of 90% Corvina Veronese and 10% Oseleta." Vinous

"A single vineyard whose fruit comes from a historically important site that is quite steep and calcareous and slopes down towards the Adige. No dried grapes. The tannins of the Oseleta are hard, firm and punchy on the attack. The mid palate, however, is round and energetic, softening any impression of stiffness as it lays out anise, mint, leather varnish and dark, saturated berry fruit. This is a very good wine made for the cellar." James Suckling

“Giovanni Allegrini” Recioto della Valpolicella Classico DOC 2016 dolce
Rich, impenetrable ruby violet, the bouquet with appealing aromas of sultanas, dried plums and elderberries. Explosive richness on the palate, full of pickled fruits, fine pepper notes in the background, opens with grippy tannins, plus a nicely balanced sweetness that reveals cherries and chocolate on the long final. SUPERIORE.DE
"Dark ruby red with a black, impenetrable core. The nose smells of dark chocolate, elderberries and prunes, some cloves and sandalwood. On the palate with exciting interplay between sweetness and tannin, good concentration but still finesse, shows good pressure and remains juicy on the finish." Falstaff
"Darkly floral and exotic, while pulling me close with medicinal black berries and clove, the 2016 Recioto della Valpolicella Classico Giovanni Allegrini makes a lasting first impression. While silky-smooth and pleasantly sweet, there’s a lifted and vibrant feel on the palate that keeps the expression wildly fresh, as sweet herbs and tobacco echo throughout over a drenching mix of chocolate and raisins. It leaves a staining of ripe fruits but tapers off impossibly finessed and lifted. If anything, a bit more length might seal the deal, but that’s just splitting hairs. It’s a beautiful Recioto." Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOCG 2018
Strong garnet red colour, the bouquet is reminiscent of dried fruits, along with liquorice and subtle spices. On the palate, the wine is full and velvety with hints of cherry and vanilla. Polished tannins, a fine salt note and a well-dosed acidity lead this extremely elegant Amarone into a brilliant finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Dark ruby red with garnet reflections. On the nose lots of ripe fruit aromas of plums, wild berries and cherries as well as wood spice and candied orange peel. Straightforward and surprisingly fresh on the palate, with pleasant juiciness, substance and beautiful balance and a persistent final." Falstaff
"A very well made Amarone, showing good balance and dryness on the palate, with black chocolate, cigars, dark raspberry jam, wax and graphite. Lots of silky, melted tannins on the medium to full-bodied palate, before an elegant and dry finish. Excellent length. Still needs some time to develop its added complexity." James Suckling
"A harmonious, medium- to full-bodied red structured by creamy tannins, with a zesty thread of milled pepper and anise enlivening mulled black cherry and black plum reduction. Reveals hints of stemmy herbs, dark chocolate and fresh earth that linger on the juicy finish." Wine Spectator
"Cocoa, cinnamon and cloves meet crushed plums and balsamic herbs as the 2018 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico blossoms in the glass. It is silky and enveloping, yet cool, with a depth of dark red fruits contrasted beautifully by a core of salty minerality. The 2018 finishes structured and long, with grippy tannins on the palate as hints of baker's chocolate and inner rose slowly fade. This is a vertical and racy edition of the Allegrini Amarone, but it will need some time to fully develop." Vinous

“La Poja” Corvina Veronese IGT 2017
La Poja from the vineyard of the same name is a great terroir wine in which Allegrini does without grape drying. Dynamic, precise and very elegant in all its components, it offers the highest pleasure and promises a terrific development. SUPERIORE.DE
"A burst of mocha and clove is balanced by dusty black cherries and savoury herbs as the 2017 La Poja blossoms in the glass. This is a heady and extroverted expression with a pretty inner sweetness contrasted by tart black fruits and inner herbal tones. Dark chocolate, clove, hints of vanilla and candied lavender run through the incredibly long and flavourful final. The 2017 finishes with a light structure. Despite its extroverted character, La Poja has only three grams of residual sugar per Liters. This may be a big wine, but the balance is remarkable." Vinous
"Made from the indigenous Corvina grape variety, this red wine opens with inviting aromas of ripe black-skinned berries, cedar and spice. The elegantly structured, full-bodied palate offers spiced blackberries, liquorice and black pepper alongside fine-grained tannins." Wine Enthusiast
"Very dense, densely packed aromas of blackcurrants and blackberries, as well as notes of hazelnuts. Full-bodied and very silky, with a very fine feel on the palate. The tannins are very well integrated into the wine and the finish is long. It is very dense, but delicious even now. Structured, refined and with class." James Suckling
"Smoldering black cherries engulf a savoury aubergine and balsamic core, with a pillow of fine-spun, floury tannins, a piquant acidity and a memorable bitter coffee finish." Decanter

“La Grola” Rosso Veronese IGT 2016 · Artist’s edition “Hiroyuki Masuyama” · 6 bottles in OWC
La Grola is the historic vineyard that gave its name to Corvina, the autochthonous grape of Valpolicella, which is probably its origin. The replanting of the vineyard by Giovanni Allegrini sparked an agronomic revolution and laid the foundations for the success of this wine-growing area, which today is home to great red wines from north-eastern Italy.
So it is not surprising that La Grola receives a special honour from its magnificent location. Since 2010, Allegrini has been collaborating with internationally renowned artists, publishing year after year a unique, limited artist edition. The edition opened with a work by Milo Manara, continued in 2011 with a label designed by Arthur Duff and continued in 2012 with a painting by Athos Faccincani. The composition VI by Wassily Kandinsky was selected for La Grola in 2013, and in 2014 the artistic journey went to Brazil and to Nazareno Rodrigues Alves, before returning to Italy with the 2015 edition to Leonardo Ulian.
The 2016 vintage was interpreted by a great Japanese artist: Hiroyuki Masuyama. In a highly innovative process, La Grola's Limited Edition ennobles the fascinating synthesis of overlapping shots. A total of 288 photographs are incorporated into this work, showing one of the legendary vineyards of Valpolicella from an exciting and completely new perspective. Time and space are the fundamental elements of Hiroyuki Masuyama's overall creativity: everything revolves around these two concepts, which have been formalised differently over the years and have become the hallmark of his work. Masuyama combines and overlaps the result of hundreds of photographs taken of his subject from a fixed angle. The result of this superimposition is another image of the same place.
In each wooden box of 6 there are 6 bottles with Masuyama's exclusive artist's label. We are pleased to be able to offer you some copies of the special edition, which is strictly limited every year!

"Lovely balance, as always, to this super Veronese red with juicy dark fruit and hints of black chocolate. Medium to full body, succulent tannins and a fresh finish." James Suckling

“Fieramonte” Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva DOCG 2015
Allegrini's top Riserva Fieramonte presents itself deeply concentrated and almost black in the glass. The palate is firm and equally concentrated, with dense waves of dark fruits, spices, toast and cinnamon. The aromatic panorama of this wine is impressive, its dimension, depth and texture make it one of the greatest wines of the appellation. Wow! SUPERIORE.DE
"Intense ruby red with violet reflections. The nose is intense and structured, elite. It presents ripe notes of red fruit flesh, jammy figs, followed by warm tones of tobacco, coffee and spices such as cloves and pepper. The palate is dense, full and enveloping with pronounced tannins, long, captivating finish." Falstaff
"The 2015 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva Fieramonte is totally captivating, with a mentholated bouquet that mixes cedar spice box with cloves, dried blood orange and cinnamon-dusted black cherries. This envelopes the palate, elegant and seamlessly silky, as a core of racy acidity perfectly balances a dense wave of ripe red fruits. It lingers impossibly long, with framing tannins that punctuate the wine nicely without slowing its momentum. The 2015 Fieramonte is gorgeous today but also packed full of potential. What's more, there's no shame in bringing this beautifully sculpted Amarone to the dinner table." Vinous
"Aromas of blackberries, cherry pie and cooked plums combine with cloves, vanilla, freshly turned earth and dried violets. Framed by fine and polished tannins with notes of dried plums and gingerbread biscuits." Wine Enthusiast
"Plush and opulent, with a creamy chocolate edge to the concentrated minty blackberries, dark walnuts, shells and pine cones. Rich, broad and full-bodied with lots of oak now, but still very fresh and tangy. Lots of fine-grained tannins tie in the dark fruits and sweet spices on a long finish. It still needs some time for the oak to settle better. Drinkable from 2024." James Suckling
"The Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva Fieramonte 2015 captivates with its mentholated bouquet, where cedar spices mingle with cloves, dried blood oranges and cinnamon-dusted black cherries. The palate is enveloped by an elegant and seamlessly silky note, while a core of racy acidity perfectly balances a dense wave of ripe red fruits. The finish is incredibly long and the tannins frame the wine without slowing its momentum. The 2015 Fieramonte is beautiful today, but also full of potential. Plus, there's no shame in bringing this beautifully shaped Amarone to the table." Vinous
"From an 8 ha vineyard at 415 m altitude. Rich aroma on the nose with a beautiful nuance of dark fruits, floral scents and sweet spices all melding together. The texture is so appealing, rich yet smooth and silky, dominating the palate with flavours of stewed blackcurrants, coffee beans, orange peel, slightly bitter medicinal herbs, juicy balsamic pepper fruit and a beguiling saltiness. It is enveloping in the best sense, yet juicy and lively, leaving a lasting impression on the palate, an absolute vitality. The tannins are rather chewy and grippy, coating the mouth and tongue, but the presentation of flavours is so precise and detailed. This wine is amazingly good and has excellent freshness." Decanter

The Allegrini winery, with its headquarters and vineyards in Fumane, and other vineyards in the municipalities of Sant'Ambrogio and San Pietro are among the leading wine producers of Valpolicella Classica. The farm belongs to the family of the same name, which has been rooted in the area since the 16th century. The drops available on the market at reasonable prices are an expression of the history of the Valpolicella Classico area. Marilisa, Franco and Silvia, near Verona, cultivate more than a hundred hectares of their own vineyards in a picturesque setting, with great sensitivity and respect for the local wine-growing traditions. The wines, full of character and ranking at the highest level, are made exclusively from strictly selected grapes full of fragrance and elegance.
In the course of time, radical innovations in viticulture, but also in the air-drying technique of the grapes and the oenological processes in the barrel cellar were introduced in the old-established company in Veneto. The owners always had the goal in mind to get the best out of the Valpolicella's trusted quality potential. The result of Allegrini's long research activities are soft, sensual and fruity wines at world level, with the famous Amarone at the top.
Most of the historic vineyards, some of which are still built with dry stone walls, are located in the most representative areas of the Valpolicella valley. One of these is Palazzo della Torre, named after a magnificent Renaissance building acquired by the family. The soils are rich in clay and the microclimate is perfect. The legendary La Grola vineyard in the Mazzurega zone, acquired by father Giovanni, is also of considerable value, with its volcanic origins and ideal climate for growing the red varieties Corvina Veronese and Rondinella. Also the vineyard La Poja belongs to the best sites of the whole Valpolicella area. The Allegrini family has carefully studied the climatic differences and the specific characteristics of each plot of land. It has proved to be right to rehabilitate very old and poorly planted vineyards. However, not all vineyards in the estate use modern espalier planting in the Guyot system. For older sticks the traditional pergola education is maintained.
The range of the winery is complemented by the Corte Giara line. Here you can find numerous charming and very popular wines, whose characteristics are characterized by freshness and aromatic intensity. The philosophy behind it: Serious wines for uncomplicated enjoyment, which successfully reflect their origins and meet the desire of many customers for a modern style.
Therefore, as early as 1989, the Allegrini family began to sign long-term leases for qualified terroirs near Lake Garda and other suitable appellations. The vines cultivated here have been selected for their respective terroirs and needs, and thus a broad base of classic Veronese wines thrives in the Corte Giara vineyards. Valpolicella, Ripasso, Amarone, Soave and Bardolino are among them, as well as the international varieties Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay and Merlot, which are widely grown in the Veneto.
The Allegrini family passes on from generation to generation their profound knowledge of viticulture and the production of the finest wines. Fumane is constantly being experimented with and modernised. All important wine critics agree in their opinion: The Azienda Agricola Allegrini ranks among the absolute top of the Italian wine world. In the 2016 edition of the prestigious Italian wine guide Gambero RossoAllegrini was awarded the title 'Winery of the year' was awarded. SUPERIORE.DE
