“Badilante” Sangiovese Toscana IGT 2021 (BIO)
Intense ruby red. Spicy with hints of red fruits and a wonderfully subtle wood note. Gentle tannins round off the harmonious overall experience of this successful food companion. SUPERIORE.DE
"Another excellent reading of the house Sangiovese, an olfaction that opens on notes of pomegranate, then touches of marjoram and iris, with iodised nuances. Length and persistence on the palate, with iodised tannins, a fruity-ochre return and a finish on floral notes." Luca Gardini

“414” Morellino di Scansano DOCG 2021 (BIO)
Maurizio Castelli does not like fancy names. That's why he took a simple but original approach to naming the estate and his top wine: 414, which is the number of the area in the region's cadastre. And the Morellino 414 more than lives up to this clear line and proves its stature: smoky notes in the lively fruit bouquet, the contrasting, palatable taste convinces with aromatic power and structure. One of the best Morellino of the appellation. SUPERIORE.DE
"This has aromas of red cherries, anise, lavender, thyme and fresh plums. Gently spicy, with chalky tannins and a medium body. Excellent drinkability." James Suckling

Behind Podere 414 is Maurizio Castelli, an oenologist of great importance for Italian viticulture. A successful consultant, decisively involved in the development of Supertuscans and the modernization of Italian vineyards and wineries.
For his own project, his dream of an integrated farm, run according to biodynamic principles, with viticulture, cereals and livestock breeding, the agricultural engineer Castelli, who holds a doctorate in agricultural engineering, bought a farm of approx. 30 hectares in an excellent location. In Podere 414 in the DOC Morellino di Scansano, Simone Castelli, Maurizio's son, has so far planted 11 hectares of wine. The oldest vines carry in the seventh year. Simone, like his father, studied at the University of Florence and today, together with his wife Maja, takes care of the new winery. The vineyards are very modern, the planting density is very high with 6800 vines per hectare, the average yield is low with 40 hectolitres per hectare. About 85 percent of the vineyards are planted with Sangiovese, the rest with Ciliegiolo, Alicante and Colorino.
Only a single wine is produced, a 'Morellino di Scansano' and since Maurizio Castelli hates fantasy names and is only interested in quality, he took a simple but original path in naming the estate and its wine. 414 - this is the number of the area in the cadastre of the region. SUPERIORE.DE
