“La Villa” Barbera d’Asti DOCG 2021
La Villa is a casual feminine Barbera d'Asti that smells of ripe red fruits, flowers and spices. Round and focused on the palate with a silky texture and good length. SUPERIORE.DE
"Ruby red with violet reflections. On the nose notes of undergrowth, red berries, wild flowers and light menthol notes. Fresh, vinous taste, with velvety tannins and a good finish." Falstaff
"The 2021 Barbera d'Asti Superiore La Villa is a fabulous introduction to this range. An explosion of blue/purplish fruit, gravel, spice, licorice, lavender and incense makes a strong first impression. This dense, beautifully layered Asti Barbera is a total knock out." Vinous

“Le Rocchette” Barbera d’Asti Superiore DOCG 2019
Barbera d'Asti Superiore Le Rocchette shows great energy and concentration. Dark fruits, spices and incisive minerality in the racy bouquet. Lively and very juicy on the palate, all components in admirable balance. SUPERIORE.DE
"Purple red. Fresh scents of cherry, rosehip, violet, iris, blackberry and blueberry. Spicy, pleasant and fresh taste, with graceful, soft tannins and balsamic finish." Falstaff
"The 2019 Barbera d'Asti Superiore Le Rocchette is a powerful, driving wine. Dried rose petal, crushed rocks, iron, incense and red-toned fruit convey notable mineral and savory intensity. This deceptively mid-weight Barbera packs quite the punch. It's a great example of Asti at its best. Floral accents lift the bright, saline finish." Vinous

“Bauda” Nizza Riserva DOCG 2017
Only in the best vintages are some plots of Olim Bauda's vineyards in the Nizza DOCG selected for the Riserva Bauda, in order to press one of the greatest wines of the entire appellation, which is still very young. The wait was clearly worth it. Strong purple red. Complex bouquet of red fruits with an almost haptic texture and a terrific harmony of fruit, typicity and acidity that perfectly combines the winemaker's long-proven Barbera expertise and the class of the Nizza DOCG. Not only for us an absolute archetype for grape variety and origin. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2017 Nizza Riserva Bauda shows just how compelling top-flight Barbera can be in Asti. Blueberry jam, herbs, menthol, licorice and mocha infuse the 2017 with tons of depth. The Bauda is a rich, heady wine, but it also avoids the excess heaviness that can sometimes be an issue in this region. There's a ton of richness, and yet the 2017 is not at all overdone. Give this a few years in bottle and then enjoy over the following decade. In a word: exquisite." Vinous

For four generations now, the Bertolino family has been dedicated to winegrowing in Piedmont. The acquisition of Villa Bauda in Incisa Scapaccino by Agostino Bertolino in 1961 was the starting point for the foundation of Tenuta Olim Bauda. Seven years later, the siblings Diana, Dino and Gianni took over the management of the company from their father, which was valued for its high quality, with the intention of continuing the family tradition with great commitment and the will to succeed. At the same time they rebuilt the cellar adjacent to the villa and equipped it with state-of-the-art technology. Today, the Tenuta Olim Bauda comprises six farms and around 100 hectares of land, of which about one third is planted with vines at altitudes of up to 350 metres.
The plants grow exclusively in their own vineyards in the municipalities of Nizza Monferrato, Castelnuovo Calcea, Fontanile and Isola d'Astigiano.‘Asti in a region that offers particularly favourable conditions for the cultivation of Barbera and Moscato. The soils are partly sandy, partly clayey. Most of the land was planted between the 1950s and 1980s, and new vineyards were added in the mid-1990s.
The owners of Tenuta Olim Bauda are very concerned about identification and recognition, especially with regard to the grape varieties used. In addition to Barbera, the family business also produces varieties such as Moscato d‘Asti, Chardonnay, Cortese (Gavi) and Grignolino, which are also used to make very authentic wines. The always impeccable Barbera wines provide a lot of drinking pleasure and convince by their complexity and fruitiness, without connoisseurs having to do without a fresh acidity. The Tenuta Olim Bauda has already enjoyed notable success and has won numerous awards and prizes, particularly for its Barbera wines.
For Dino Bertolino, the Barbera vine is only just beginning. According to him, there is still a lot to do in clone selection and in the vineyards. For example, not all major sites have been explored yet. The three siblings cultivate their arable land sustainably, under the supervision of the agronomist Federico Curtaz, by almost completely dispensing with chemical substances and herbicides. Gianni Bertolino is also president of the production consortium of the Barbera d‘Asti Superiore Nice. SUPERIORE.DE
