Barolo DOCG 2017
A wonderful creature is the Barolo 2017 from Batasiolo. Sophisticated scent of leather and liquorice, dried flowers and undergrowth. Straightforward, the round flavour that corresponds to the scent follows its way into the persistent final. SUPERIORE.DE
"Clear shimmering garnet red with light red accents. At first smell animalistic hints, then spicy leather components and ripe plum, damp brick in the aftertaste. Enters the palate powerfully, present and youthful in tannin, very spicy, with plenty of grip and backbone, then minimally drying on the final." Falstaff
"Lots of spicy red-fruit character here. Very ripe fruit. Hints of cedro rind, roses and a tinge of black truffle. Medium-to full-bodied with very fine and tightly packed tannins. The complex fruit character endures through the long finish. Very Barolo. Very good. Hold at least until after 2022. This will age nicely." James Suckling

Barolo Boscareto DOCG 2016
Boscareto from Serralunga d'Alba smells intensely of leather and liquorice, dried flowers and undergrowth, straightforwardly the round, fragrant taste follows its way into the persistent final. SUPERIORE.DE
"Beni di Batasiolo makes two top-end single-vineyard Baroli, and the 2016 Barolo Boscareto is one of those. This wine sees fruit from Serralunga d'Alba and therefore represents the bolder and more powerful of the two. But in all honesty, the differences are minimal, especially in a vintage such as 2016 that so successfully brings out the purity of the fruit across all vineyard sites." Robert Parker
"Savoury nose with baked earth and blackberry fruit. Palate is extracted, with a core of sweetness and a rasp of tannin. Long finish." Decanter
"Aromas of flowers, cedar, strawberries and chocolate follow through to a full body, with a solid core of fruit and tannins and a chewy finish. Needs time to soften." James Suckling

"The Beni di Batasiolo 2016 Barolo Briccolina draws its fruit from Serralunga d'Alba, and you can count on more fruit weight and power as a result. This wine shows a dark garnet color with sweet cherry and blackberry highlights. Those dark fruit tones are fleshed out by spice, earthy clay and grilled herb." Robert Parker

La Morra, a small town in the province of Cuneo in the middle of the Barolo production area, has been home to Batasiolo, one of the most important wineries in the renowned cultivation zone, since the end of the seventies. Originally seven wine farms, the Beni di Batasiolo, formed the heart of the company, which was founded in the 1950s under the name Cantina Kiola and already enjoyed an impeccable reputation at that time. After the change of ownership further dependencies, enchanting vineyards and some new wine cellars were added. Today, the Dogliani family cultivates 112 hectares of vineyards in ten tenutes. The old cellars, equipped with the most modern equipment, are a reflection of the philosophy of the Piedmontese wine house, which alone prepares five Barolo-Crus: to combine the past and the future in optimal interaction with an efficient and dynamic present.
The winery of the Dogliani brothers, named after its location, a splendid vineyard, is situated in the most privileged hills of the municipalities of Barolo, Monforte, Serralunga and La Morra. Here local traditions are very cleverly linked with their own identity. The most splendid vineyards of the 140 hectare family have names like Cerequio, Brunate, Corda della Briccolina, Boscareto and Bofani. There and in some other impressive locations the noble and very demanding red variety Nebbiolo thrives with a total share of almost two thirds under the best climatic conditions. The portfolio also includes Barbera, Dolcetto, Moscato and Cortese white grapes, as well as other indigenous varieties that characterise the prestigious area.
The fact that Beni di Batasiolo is one of the largest wineries in Piedmont in terms of surface area does not lead to any loss of quality. Numerous awards - for example for the Barolo Corda della Briccolina, which ages in French barriques - prove what the company name stands for: For top Italian wines, an enormously wide range consisting of almost all Langhe typologies (sparkling wines, Moscato bottlings and grappas included) and a close connection with the typical regional terroir.
The local specialities are still particularly pronounced in the red wine style for the fruity and particularly noble Barolos, which - apart from one exception - ages quite traditionally in large Slavonian oak barrels. For many years Giorgio Lavagna has been in charge of the technical side of the cellar, continuing the quality tradition of the winery with reliable and accessible wines. SUPERIORE.DE
"In a wine-growing area like the Langhe, which is characterised by small wineries, the Dogliani family has skilfully integrated their Batasiolo wine giant with over 110 hectares of vineyards."Gambero Rosso
