    • "Ca' di Pian" Barbera d'Asti DOC 2016

“Ca' di Pian” Barbera d’Asti DOC 2016

Bright ruby red with violet reflections and intense fragrance, very clear, after ripe dark cherry and blackcurrant, Ca' di Pian shows itself. Beautifully juicy on the palate, it develops with power, but always remains elegant. In the precise finish a hint of mint. SUPERIORE.DE

"La Spinetta's 2016 Barbera d'Asti Ca' di Pian is soft, plummy and very tasty. I would prefer to drink it over the next few years, while the fruit remains vibrant. This is a pretty laid-back style for the Ca' di Pian, which in the past was a much darker and more concentrated wine. Red and purplish berry fruit with a touch of spice is nicely pushed forward by bright acids. The 2016 is absolutely delicious, especially with a little aeration." Vinous

Impressive its structure, the overripe notes fully under control; the wood spice as a contrast to the sweetness of the fruit, the finish endlessly long and of an exceptional fruity persistence. SUPERIORE.DE

"The 2016 Barbera d'Asti Superiore Bionzo is a super-classic Asti Barbera with wonderfully delineated flavors and plenty of structure. Clean mineral notes, spice, dried flowers, menthol and graphite all run through this potent yet super-refined Barbera that cries for cold weather and bold, lusty food on the table. "The 2015 Monferrato Rosso Pin (Nebbiolo/Barbera) is nicely lifted in the glass. Supple and silky on the palate, with lovely aromatic presence, the Pin is a joy to taste today. Stylistically, Pin is quite a bit more finessed than it was in its early days. Despite its easy approachability, the 2015 has enough structure to develop nicely in the cellar for a number of years." Barolo “Garretti” DOCG 2016

Barolo Vigneto Garretti has an inviting floral scent of small, white flowers, berries and spices. On the palate freshness, medium body and firm tannins, one can feel the great potential. Barolo Garretti is a wine from the slopes of the La Spinetta estate in Grinzane Cavour. Previously these grapes were used in Barolo Campé. SUPERIORE.DE

"The 2016 Barolo Vigneto Garretti is bold, racy and super-expressive. Succulent dark cherry, lavender, spice, menthol, red flowers, licorice, and French oak all meld together in this creamy, racy wine from La Spinetta. The Garretti captures all of the richness and pedigree of the year in a forward, succulent style that is sure to find many admirers. This is an especially strong vintage for this wine, though it needs another year in bottle for the big tannins to soften. I won't be surprised if the 2016 turns out to be even better than this note suggests; today it is absolutely delicious." Vinous

    • Barbaresco "Vigneto Starderi" DOCG 2016

      Barbaresco “Vigneto Starderi” DOCG 2016

Barbaresco Starderi, from the municipality of Neive, is almost austere with its scent of pink pepper and cocoa, which in combination with the wood notes gives a delicious overall aroma; powerful and rich the taste with the still superficial, but very noble tannins. SUPERIORE.DE

"Mid to deep ruby. Aromatic, firm cherry-fruit nose with a certain coolness to it. Bags of fruit and tannins and great acidity. Truly a generous mouthful, but stylish. Can be approached now." Jancis Robinson

"Raspberry coulis, dried red plums, vanilla, cedar and spice box make for a pronounced and beguiling nose. Full-bodied and very powerful on the palate, yet the tannins are polished and the acidity focused and refreshing." James Suckling

"The 2016 Barbaresco Starderi Vürsù starts with a no-nonsense obscure color and ends with lots of dark fruit on the close. In between, it shows a spot of bitterness on the tongue, delivered with ripe fruit and some rather tight tannins. There are lots of tar notes here too, along with the sort of resin and camphor ash you might not have been expecting from such a youthful Barbaresco. But this one has a heavy center of gravity and is not to be trifled with. It's a big and bold wine that demands a rare cut of beef." Robert Parker

"The 2016 Barbaresco Vigneto Starderi is outrageously beautiful. Dense, powerful and rich, the 2016 races out of the glass with huge fruit to match its classically mid-weight profile. Super-ripe red/purplish berry fruit, wild flowers, licorice and mint play off the huge tannins with real grace. Readers have to be patient, but the 2016 Starderi is a rock star wine. That's pretty much all there is to it." Vinous

    About the winemakers
    La Spinetta
    Piedmont
    La Spinetta

The winery, translated "The top of the hill"It refers to the site of the Rivetti family's first winery in Castagnole delle Lanze, between Astigiano and Langhe. Today the family around her pulsating heart, Giorgio Rivetti, enjoys a high international reputation.

The origins of the company, one of the most controversial wine houses in its own country, go back to the 1890s, when Giovanni Rivetti emigrated from Piedmont to Argentina, later to return home as a rich and powerful man and one day to produce perhaps the best wine in Italy. Since he never returned, his son Giuseppe took up the idea. In 1977 he moved to La Spinetta and founded the winery of the same name.

Meanwhile, three Giuseppes in Moscato d'Asti's sons grew up in the manor the say. The family estate covers a total of 165 hectares. Of these, around 100 hectares are located in Piedmont and the rest in Tuscany. The vineyards in Piedmont are located in Barbaresco and in the Grinzane Cavour area.

A few years ago, the Rivetti brothers added Contratto, Italy's oldest sparkling wine cellar, to their vineyard, which had previously consisted of three estates. Three quarters of La Spinetta's wines are exported. With a share of 45 percent, the USA is the largest customer.

Since the first Moscato versions, Giorgio, one of Italy's best oenologists, had always had great ambitions and clear ideas, as well as great vision. The winery La Spinetta was able to achieve its first great success in 1989 with the "pin" a cuvée of Barbera and Nebbiolo. With this wine the children honoured their father, because "pin" was Giuseppe Rivetti's nickname. Further successes followed.

Today, the unique Barolo Campè and three Barbaresco site wines are among the outstanding wines in the large label portfolio. Also the Barbera d'Asti Superiore Bionzo and Gallina have already won several awards. The wines of La Spinetta are considered modern, innovative and very individual. The main emphasis is on the ripe fruit. SUPERIORE.DE

"The enormous recognition value of the La Spinetta style has contributed greatly to the success of this estate on the world's wine markets."Gambero Rosso
