“Roccaleoni” Falanghina Campania IGP 2022
Fresh Falanghina from the heart of Sannio Benevento. Pale yellow with fruity and floral notes of pineapple, banana, peach, a touch of pink broom and sage. Balanced and pleasantly smooth on the palate. Very nice as an aperitif and with light dishes. SUPERIORE.DE
"On the nose, aromas of sweet cream and white flowers combine with mineral grit. The 2022 Falanghina Roccaleoni opens with a soft texture, almost creamy, with a depth of ripe fruit trees and candied lime. The 2022 finishes remarkably fresh with admirable length and concentration of citrus." Vinous

“Daltavilla” Greco di Tufo DOCG 2022
The Greco di Tufo has an intense and persistent aroma of white peach, apricot, almond oil and citrus with restrained mineral notes. The flavour is powerful, fresh and rich. A wine with character and strong typicity. SUPERIORE.DE
"Fresh and limey citrus with a hint of seashell minerality and green apples. Simple but bone-dry and fresh on the palate, with a lovely phenolic note and a chalky finish. Drink now." James Suckling
"The Villa Matilde Avallone 2022 Greco di Tufo Tenuta Pietrafusa Daltavilla is a pretty wine that shows the character and clarity of the Greco grape, here lightly complemented by gentle notes of apple, pear and exotic vanilla from a hot vintage. It offers a medium richness and good creaminess with plenty of mineral sensations and a fresh acidity that rounds out the wine." Wine Advocate

Rosso Falerno del Massico DOP 2018
Rosso Falerno del Massico presents an intense aroma of black raspberries, cloves, rosemary and a hint of camphor. It fills the palate with soft, fleshy textures and ripe red berries, contrasted by salty mineral tones and nuanced tannins. The finish is long and lightly textured, with hints of purple-tinted floral notes. This is once again a beautiful vintage of Villa Matilde's Falerno del Massico Rosso, which is mainly Aglianico with a small amount of Piedirosso. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2018 Falerno del Massico is rich and expressive. A cooling smoke hint offsets its crushed blackberry and cherry bouquet. This washes across the palate with ease, juicy and fruit-focused, with lively acidity that maintains freshness throughout. It finishes gently tannic with a twang of tart wild blueberries and sour citrus hints. The Falerno del Massico is always one of my favorite bottlings from Villa Matilde for its balanced structure and vivid fruit profile." Vinous

“Pietrafusa” Taurasi DOCG 2017
This red classic comes from marl- and clay-rich soils from the high and steep hills near Taurasi, not far from the Tyrrhenian Sea. The soils are rich in minerals and salts and give the Aglianico grape a wonderful depth and minerality.
The nose of Taurasi Pietrafusa is savoury and intense, with notes of crushed blackberries, citrus fruits, stones, sage and a stimulating mint. On the palate, the soft texture gains richness as it flows over the senses with notes of ripe black fruits, salty minerals and sweet herbal notes. The finish is long and structured, showing the wine's tannic power mixed with resonant acids and lingering dark fruits. This is a wine that can be cellared for five to ten years, but also has what it takes to last another decade. SUPERIORE.DE
"Ripe, sweet cherries, dried cranberries, cinnamon and Christmas spices. Medium-bodied and supple on the palate with soft tannins and juicy, ripe berries. A lighter expression of the Taurasi. A little more depth would take it to the next level." James Suckling
"The Villa Matilde Avallone 2017 Taurasi Tenuta Pietrafusa was born in a scorching hot vintage but manages surprising elegance nonetheless with a pretty mineral tone of crushed stone that frames black cherry, plum and soft spice. The intensity of all those aromas balances out nicely. The finish is not too long, but that leanness works in favor of the wine's food-friendly disposition." Wine Advocate

“Cecubo” Roccamonfina Rosso Campania IGP 2015
Cecubo is a historic cuvée of Abbuoto, Primitivo and Piedirosso, among others, which was already highly appreciated by the ancient Romans. The expressive bouquet has nuances of wild berries, figs, vanilla and incense. The full-bodied taste and the medium body offer an interesting interplay between elegance and power. SUPERIORE.DE

“Fusonero” Taurasi DOCG 2015
The new Fusonero is a delight all along the line: in the bouquet fresh rose scent, spices, red berries, mint and liquorice. The palate is dominated by light, soft aromas, while the wilder, impetuous side of the Aglianico grape is elegantly restrained. It is a particularly silky, fragrant Taurasi, immediate, attractive - and with great depth and potential. SUPERIORE.DE

Severus, fortis, ardens: With these qualities (in English: serious, energetic and fervent) the ancient Falerner, the most famous wine of classical literature, was provided in Latin. The Villa Matilde continues the ancient tradition of the wine that disappeared at the beginning of the last century, not only since the seventies with a modern Falerno, but produces from the mountain area Alto Casertano via Sannio around the provincial town of Benevento to Irpinien many other noble wines of outstanding quality. The Campanian winery in Cellole was founded in the sixties by Francesco Paolo Avallone, a lawyer and lover of antique wines inspired by poets such as Vergil and Horaz. The winery is not only one of the pioneers, but also one of the most interesting wineries in the Caserta region. Love for tradition, respect for the environment, openness to modern developments and technological innovations - these could be the leitmotifs of Villa Matilde and the heirs of the company founder, Maria Ida and Salvatore Avallone, who are endowed with a feverish desire for renewal.
With the acquisition of the Rocca dei Leoni estate in Sannio (2000) and the Altavilla estate in Irpinia (2004), Villa Matilde has developed into a large company with a very varied and wide range of products based on the native varieties Falanghina, Aglianico, Piedirosso, Primitivo, Fiano and Greco. Wine is the subject of ongoing studies at the estate to identify the grape varieties from which the oldest wines in the world were made. The wines vinified there are pleasing due to a very good price/performance ratio. And also the basic wines convince by their longevity and expressiveness.
In 2008, the International Year of Planet Earth, Villa Matilde launched the project "Issue zero" was brought to life. This extensive sustainability project aims to gradually reduce greenhouse gas emissions to zero and to produce wine in a particularly environmentally friendly way. The project covers the entire farm through a variety of measures, from work in the vineyard and cellar to distribution. Collected water is already used today to irrigate and clean the winery. Biomass produced during operation is also reused. In addition to the use of heat-insulating materials, the winery also uses natural ventilation systems to reduce energy consumption. Villa Matilde uses a combination system of photovoltaics and conventional power sources. SUPERIORE.DE
"It is largely thanks to the Avallone family and their 50 years of work at Villa Matilde that the Falerno has gone from a historical curiosity to a living, modern plant. ... Villa Matilde is much more than the mother company of the modern Falerno."Gambero Rosso
