!["Rossojbleo" Rosso Terre Siciliane IGT 2022 (BIO)]()
“Rossojbleo” Rosso Terre Siciliane IGT 2022 (BIO)
As an introduction to the world of Gulfi, Rossojbleo is a restrained Nero d'Avola full of character. The grapes come from organic farming in the heart of southern Sicily – very close to Noto and Ragusa, on ancient hills characterised by limestone and clay soils. Here, deep origin and precise acidity combine to create a charming red wine full of transparency. Ruby in colour with delicate violet reflections. The aromatic freshness attracts the nose with red sour and wild berries, subtle herbal notes and a mineral flavour. Convincing on the palate with its balanced proportions: Juicy fruit, lively acidity, light spice and delicate, soft tannins – everything seems light as a feather, but the flavour is clear and harmonious. The finish is delicately savoury, elegant and immediately prepares you for the next sip. SUPERIORE.DE

!["Valcanzjria" Bianco Terre Siciliane IGT 2023]()
“Valcanzjria” Bianco Terre Siciliane IGT 2023
A white wine with its own signature: Valcanzjria combines Carricante – the noble grape variety of Etna – with the Mediterranean charm of Chardonnay and Albanello. The grapes grow in Val Canzeria near Chiaramonte Gulfi on calcareous soils at an altitude of around 400 metres. The interplay of altitude, cool nights and loamy substrates ensures freshness, tension and aromatic depth. Pale straw yellow in the glass with a greenish tinge. The aroma is delicate and complex: white flowers, yellow apple, lime zest, a hint of almonds and fine herbs. On the palate, Valcanzjria is straightforward, dry and precise – with lively acidity, salty minerality and a subtle creaminess that comes from ageing on fine lees in stainless steel. A balanced, modern white wine with a regional profile and invigorating freshness. SUPERIORE.DE

“Nerojbleo” Rosso Terre Siciliane IGT 2022 (BIO)
A Nero d'Avola with juice and vigour: Nerojbleo comes from the high altitudes of the Iblei mountains around Chiaramonte Gulfi. The vines are rooted there in calcareous clay soils at an altitude of around 450 metres. The temperate microclimate and careful organic cultivation characterise a wine with structure, freshness and a distinct identity. The wine is matured for around 12 months in used barriques and tonneaux. Dark ruby colour with a purple core in the glass. Black cherry, ripe plum, liquorice and a hint of Mediterranean scrub on the nose. On the palate, the Nerojbleo is juicy and harmonious, with well-integrated acidity, fine-grained tannins and supple fruit. The subtle hint of wood adds depth without masking the varietal character. “Carjcanti” Carricante Terre Siciliane IGT 2021 (BIO)
For many, Carricante is inextricably linked with Etna. Organic cultivation, hand-picking in the cool morning hours and gentle ageing in stainless steel tanks followed by six months of storage on the fine lees – accompanied by regular bâtonnage – ensure complexity, texture and freshness at the same time.

Nerobaronj is no ordinary Nero d'Avola, but a deeply rooted homage to origin and style. The name plays with the aristocratic title and grape variety – and refers to the self-confident profile of a wine that sets new standards with its concentration and elegance. !["Neromaccarj" Nero d'Avola Terre Siciliane IGT 2019 (BIO)]()
“Neromaccarj” Nero d’Avola Terre Siciliane IGT 2019 (BIO)
Neromàccarj is the broodingwine from Gulfi's high-quality Nero d'Avola range. The vines are rooted in the single vineyard Màccari, a barren hilly landscape near Pachino, where calcareous clay, volcanic rock and sea breezes create a powerful, yet always balanced microclimate. The vines are ungrafted, some are over 50 years old and yields are low. The harvest by hand and the wine is matured in the traditional way: a long maceration period followed by two years of ageing in used barriques and large wooden barrels. All this with organic care – and a firm determination to bring the best of the variety into the glass.

“Nerobufaleffj” Nero d’Avola Terre Siciliane IGT 2019 (BIO)
The single vineyard Bufaleffi is considered one of the most historic cru zones around Pachino, the historic heart of Nero d'Avola. The deep red soils with a high iron and lime content, the hot climate tempered by the sea air at night and the organic cultivation form the foundation of this single vineyard wine. The ungrafted vines are over fifty years old, the yield is low and the harvest is selective and manual. After the classic mash fermentation, the wine matures for over two years in used barriques and then for a long time in the bottle – this gives it density, structure and expression.

Of the four Gulfi-Cru, this is the vineyard closest to the sea, less than 700 metres away and only 10-15 metres above sea level. With vines that grow on sandy soils. A beautiful, multi-layered wine that shows the elegant side of Nero d'Avola that few producers are ever able to present. Precise aromas of ripe red cherries, flint, orange peel, lavender and violets. Silky and juicy on the palate, with a refined but very concentrated extract that almost crushes the taste buds, yet remains lively and not at all heavy, giving the flavours of red cherries, raspberries, flowers and minerals beautiful definition and lift. The finish is very deep and long, with very soft tannins, a beguiling aroma and extreme finesse; very Barolo-like. SUPERIORE.DE

“Neromaccarj” Nero d’Avola Terre Siciliane IGT 2019 (BIO) · MAGNUM

“Nerobaronj” Nero d’Avola Terre Siciliane IGT 2019 (BIO) · MAGNUM
Nerobaronj is no ordinary Nero d'Avola, but a deeply rooted homage to origin and style. The name plays with the aristocratic title and grape variety – and refers to the self-confident profile of a wine that sets new standards with its concentration and elegance. The grapes come from the south of Sicily, not far from Noto, from old bush vines on calcareous clay soil. Organic cultivation, hand-picking and strict selection ensure a high degree of precision. The wine is matured for 24 months in barriques and tonneaux, followed by long bottle ageing.

“Nerobufaleffj” Nero d’Avola Terre Siciliane IGT 2019 (BIO) · MAGNUM
The single vineyard Bufaleffi is considered one of the most historic cru zones around Pachino, the historic heart of Nero d'Avola. The deep red soils with a high iron and lime content, the hot climate tempered by the sea air at night and the organic cultivation form the foundation of this single vineyard wine. The ungrafted vines are over fifty years old, the yield is low and the harvest is selective and manual. After the classic mash fermentation, the wine matures for over two years in used barriques and then for a long time in the bottle – this gives it density, structure and expression.

“Nerosanloré" Nero d’Avola Terre Siciliane IGT 2019 (BIO) · MAGNUM

From the climatically very favoured extreme south of Sicily between Vittoria, Noto and Pachino, exciting wines have been coming for decades, which do not at all resemble the sometimes even jam-sweet tasting Nero d'Avola plants from other island regions. The most important wine of this princely grape variety is the family winery Gulfi from the small town of Chiaramonte Gulfi, advised by the oenologist and agronomist Salvo Foti, for its unmistakable style. The fascinating, complex and fine-tuned organic wines of the visionary and determined owner of the Vito Catania estate vary greatly depending on the soil conditions and the extension of the vineyards. However, they all ripen under excellent conditions and have a surprisingly fresh acid structure.
The history of the Gulfi winery in the province of Ragusa began with a farm inherited from the father with a vineyard in the cool and calcareous Monti Iblei. Immediately Vito Catania, who already as a child followed the technical discussions of the parents in the domestic environment with interest, drove the development despite smaller setbacks briskly forward. The Milanese businessman with Sicilian roots quickly developed the beautiful property into a model business. From the very beginning, Catania's declared aim has been to produce wines that reflect their terroir uncompromisingly, without quickly following ephemeral fashion trends. Especially the Nero d'Avola helped the Catania/Foti leadership duo, building on the tradition of previous generations, to reassert themselves and establish a clear identity.
With manure improved by green manure, the soils which are particularly suitable for viticulture and very diverse from a geological point of view are made fertile. Additional irrigation is not required in plots planted almost exclusively with autochthonous varieties, such as the ancient white Carricante grape. The vines, which are up to 70 years old, are raised in the classic Alberello system. It should also be mentioned that the Catania family selected clones from Etna and planted them together with some Chardonnay grapes from Burgundy on the slopes of the Monti Iblei.
The Gulfi winery is located near Randazzo (on Mount Etna), Chiaramonte Gulfi (in the southwest) and Pachino (in the east at sea level). The historical plots of Maccari, Bufaleffi, Baroni and San Lorenzo, acquired in the Val di Noto and recultivated with great effort, provide the grapes for some of Sicily's most expressive single vineyard wines, which can be enjoyed without regret even at an advanced age. The vinification of all Kreszenzen is carried out as naturally as possible and without falsifying technical tricks, the aging in wooden barrels very carefully. SUPERIORE.DE
"When I think of producers of Nero d’Avola wines, comes to mind as one of the first names Gulfi. The winery produces some vineyard wines that offer the chance to explore the different nuances of this great Sicilian variety."Robert Parker
