    • "61" Franciacorta Millesimato DOCG 2012 Brut Nature

“61” Franciacorta Millesimato DOCG 2012 Brut Nature

Berlucchi 61 Brut Nature 2012 is a top-quality Franciacorta made from Chardonnay and Pinot Nero, which requires no dosage at all and thus rounds off the 61 collection perfectly. This line represents the year of birth of the first Franciacorta, which was born in 1961 in the centuries-old Berlucchi wineries. The grapes come from four vineyards between Corte Franca and Provaglio d'Iseo. The cuvée perfectly embodies the expression of the terroir in its purity, shows the fascination of Chardonnay and the minerality of Pinot Noir. The bouquet exudes just these honestly fragrant tones, rich and soulful on the palate. Big time! SUPERIORE.DE

"Fruity-ripening, appealing; fine foam, deep and long-lasting, pleasing." (JLF) Merum

"Intense, brilliant straw yellow. Compact and concentrated nose, underlaid with subtle yeast, roasted hazelnuts, delicate nougat, with flint and salt lemon in the aftertaste. On the palate with fine enamel and cool juice, spreads crisply, finest perlage, in the finish bone dry." Falstaff

"A very attractive Franciacorta that frames Thai desserts and Cornish pasties against a sea of lemons and limes. Medium-to full-bodied with an edge of pretty acidity and lots of pastry-like flavors to close." James Suckling

    About the winemakers
    Berlucchi Guido
    Lombardy
    Berlucchi Guido

After several unsuccessful attempts in the 1950s to produce a sparkling wine using the champagne method in Lombardy, Franco Ziliani and his friends Guido Berlucchi and Giorgio Lanciani finally reached the goal of their dreams in 1961: for the first time they produced 3,000 bottles of Spumante Metodo Classico and labelled it Pinot di Franciacorta.

The initially few customers were impressed by the elegance of the bubbling drop. With this initially small production, the foundation stone was also laid for Franciacorta, not far from Lago d´Iseo, a sparkling wine zone of international importance. In the meantime, the Guido Berlucchi winery in Borgonato has become one of the great names in Italian viticulture thanks to its convincing quality work. Because anyone who drinks sparkling wine on special occasions in this boot-looking country reaches for Franciacorta. As president and founder of the company, Franco Ziliani - now over 80 years old - is supported passionately and competently by his children Arturo (oenologist), Paolo and Cristina in the estate.

After the huge initial success, the growing demand for grapes meant that the Ziliani family and Spiritus Rector Guido Berlucchi had to buy fruit from other terroirs after some time. In the meantime, however, Franciacorta has long since successfully re-established itself alongside the classic labels in the range of the Lombard wine house. Also that all the qualities from Berlucchi's excellent Spumante series "Cuveé Imperiale" which have since been upgraded to Franciacorta DOCG is worth the news. This is because the roots of the company have received their appropriate recognition.

In the wide and very well kept battery of bottles of the last very fast growing wine house Guido Berlucchi the "Palazzo Lana Brut Extrême" and the "68 Brut Nature" especially. These fine wines are awarded by the wine guide Gambero Rossowith the highest ratings. – often three glasses – thoughtful. The production rules are as strict as in the Champagne: a simple Franciacorta Brut must lie on the yeast for at least 18 months, a vintage wine even 30 months.

Just in time for the 50th anniversary of the first Spumante Metodo Classico, the company in Palazzo Lana was honoured in 2011 with an official Poste Italiane stamp. The great success story of the legendary wine house Berlucchi will certainly soon be added to other chapters. SUPERIORE.DE

"Three friends and business leaders, Guido Berlucchi, Franco Ziliani and Giorgio Lanciani, founded this historic estate in 1955 and are credited with inventing Franciacorta metodo classico sparkling wine. Under the leadership of a new generation, including Cristina Ziliani, Berlucchi is a force to be reckoned with, boasting an annual production of five million bottles."Robert Parker
