      "The 2016 Testamatta represents a blend of fruit from old vines spread across the various vineyard holdings farmed by Bibi Graetz in both the Siena and Firenze provinces of Tuscany. These holdings include plots in Vincigliata (home base to Bibi Graetz and his family just outside of Florence), Lamole, Londa, Montefili and Siena. Many of the vines used here are 80 years old or more, and each site represents a cultural and enological patrimony that was specifically selected for its individual character or uniqueness. There is an unescapable metaphor in the many primary colors that blend or bleed into each other to form a single piece of art that is depicted on the front label of this handsome bottle. Testamatta reaches impeccable harmony in similar fashion. I tasted this wine on three separate occasions and was blown away each time. There is a seductively wild side to the wine that comes forth with chiseled intensity. Dark fruit, spice, tar, licorice and toasted spice make for a beautifully elegant bouquet.     He is what the name of his vineyard expresses: Testamatta. Bibi Graetz is a creative person with a strong character who tackles challenges with great passion. On the Tuscan estate almost only autochthonous grape varieties are cultivated according to traditional methods. Testamatta is at the same time the flagship of the house: a Sangiovese in its most beautiful form with a long finish.

    The parents, who came from Norway, had acquired a country estate with vineyards in the hills of Fiesole. But for a long time nobody really cared about the cultivation area. Only Bibi Graetz, who first wanted to start an artistic career like his parents, decided one day to plant vines on the Tuscan marl and clay soils mixed with sand. He founded Testamatta at the end of the 1990s without further ado. "madcap".

    Bibi Graetz was initially overwhelmed with the winemaking process. Only after a four-year apprenticeship with experienced winemakers did he get the impression that he had enough knowledge to be able to start his new task and to exchange the painting utensils for the tools of a winemaker. Already at the VinExpo 2003 in Bordeaux Graetz was awarded as the best red wine new discovery. In the meantime, the owner of the estate has acquired an excellent reputation among experts with his fine wines, all of which bear an original Bibi Graetz motif.

    The two hectares of vineyard initially used for cultivation are no longer sufficient. That is why Bibi Graetz has been working for years with winegrowers who are friends with him, for example to obtain grapes for his estate wine, Casamatta. SUPERIORE.DE
