Sangiovese Terra degli Osci IGT 2020
Excellent, single-varietal Sangiovese at a top price: ruby red, powerful, very typical bouquet of dark berries, tobacco and leather, well structured on the palate with cherry and plum notes, excellent length and elegant, fine-fruity finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Dusty red flowers, dried strawberries and aromas of worn leather create an inviting bouquet as the 2020 Sangiovese opens in the glass. It is racy yet supple, with ripe cherry berries pouring over a mineral acid core. On the finish, the 2020 becomes crisp, leaving subtle tannins that frame the experience beautifully. It has so much purity and energy. This wine far exceeds its price." Vinous
"Aromas of black cherries, orange peel and some fresh herbs. Medium body, medium round tannins, and a soft and creamy finish. Light jammy character at the end." James Suckling

“Contado” Aglianico Riserva Molise DOC 2017
Concentrated ruby red with garnet reflections. To the predominant black cherry and berry scent, the wood contributes very slight hints of roasted coffee. Full and very intense flavour of dark berries, very slightly of violets and plums, the compact tannins are carried by balsamic notes, in the aftertaste fine liquorice tones. The harmony that this powerful and already delicious Aglianico hints at will only come to full fruition after a few years of bottle ageing, definitely aerate! SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2017 Riserva Contado, rises from the glass with a blend of cinnamon-coloured currants and spicy herbs. The palate is round and supple, with sage complementing the ripe black fruits. For all its depth and power, the acidity keeps the balance. The 2017 finishes with a tarry concentration." Vinous
"Rich and complex nose of grilled herbs, olives, blackberries, cassis and smoked meat. Some orange peel and chocolate. Full-bodied with chewy tannins and a dense, savoury and flavourful palate." James Suckling

“Don Luigi” Riserva Molise DOC 2017 (BIO)
Don Luigi Riserva, a solid, powerful red from Montepulciano and Aglianico has an intense, complex bouquet of sour cherries preserved in alcohol and a rich, delicately woody flavour with a long, warm finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Toasted hazelnuts, chocolate cherries, dark berries, bay leaves and walnuts on the nose. Full-bodied with a rich, ripe core of dark fruits framed by firm and muscular tannins. Salty undertones. Big and delicious." James Suckling
"The 2017 Don Luigi Riserva smolders up with a darkly alluring mix of musky black currants, sweet sage and crushed ashen stones. This is full-bodied and nearly creamy in feel. Depths of ripe dark fruits and exotic spices swirl throughout. There isn’t a hard edge in sight, while the 2017 blends brisk acidity with lingering notes of red plum and cedar. Just a touch of grippy tannin lurks beneath the surface. The balance here is stunning, yet some cellaring may be required to unlock further aromatic depth. That said, this is a beautiful rendition of Don Luigi Riserva." Vinous

"The 2016 Ramitello blends 85% Montepulciano to 15% Aglianico to create a dark, floral and alluring bouquet. A dusting of crushed violets, blackberries, vanilla bean and hints of animal musk waft up from the glass. It’s velvety in texture yet lifted in feel, while leaning toward the savory spectrum with its concentrated mix of tart wild berries and salty minerals. Brisk acids maintain energy even as fine tannins slowly mount, all under a lasting air of black licorice and hints of tar. This is nicely done and a fantastic value." Vinous
"A mix of cherry coulis and brandy-soaked blackberries blends with a heady dose of tobacco and fresh thyme on the nose of this blend of 85% Montepulciano and 15% Aglianico. Plush and soft in feel yet lifted by fresh acidity, the medium-bodied palate delivers pure, juicy berry flavors flecked by plenty of sweet and savory spice tones." Wine Enthusiast

"Ashen soils, crushed stone, animal musk, plum and exotic savory spices can all be found in the dark and sultry 2016 Aglianico Riserva Contado. It’s velvety yet not weighty, energized by bright acidity with tart black fruits, minerals and grippy tannins that saturate the senses. There are unseen depths here which are currently restrained by the Contado’s hulking structure, yet there’s also a harmony that tempts the imagination as to what’s to come. Currants, wild herbs, salted licorice and hints of tobacco linger long. This is like a well-muscled stallion, yet it needs some time in the cellar to soften." Vinous

The historic winery of the Di Majo family in Molise, in the north of the Gargano in the Ramitello region around Campomarino, slumbered for a long time until it acquired a very good reputation beyond the borders of Italy. Today, wines of the finest quality - concentrated, modern and fresh - come from there throughout. The young exceptional winemaker Alessio di Majo, supported by the renowned oenologist Riccardo Cotarella, has dedicated himself to the almost forgotten ancient grape varieties of the region and helped them to new prestige. In the Azienda Di Majo Norante, the emphasis is on a pleasantly fruity appearance and an ordered structure. This ranges from the drink-friendly white wines to the powerful red wines. The fact that the drops are also offered on the market at an extremely favourable price/quality ratio is not due to the level of the plants produced there.
Alessio di Majo, a winegrower who often swims against the current, produces wines that combine traditional craftsmanship with modern technology. He has abandoned high yields in the vineyard and efforts to standardize taste in favour of the search for quality and typicity. The loose, partly sandy soils, together with the summer wind around Campomarino, offer particularly favourable conditions for vine cultivation. The plants thrive in wonderful locations covering 85 hectares of the ancient feudal property of Marchesi Norante di Santa Cristina. The vines are treated exclusively with organic fertilizers of organic and mineral origin.
The groundbreaking decision to select the most suitable clones of autochthonous vines by studying their adaptability to the Mediterranean soil is the starting point for all Di Majo Norante wines. In the beginning, the family had added the red varieties Sangiovese, Montepulciano and Aglianico as well as Falanghina and Greco to the classic varieties for white wine production. The traditional red variety Tintilia as well as the Moscato Reale for the production of a noble Passito wine later completed the portfolio.
The Di Majo Norante winery has been making wine from its own grapes for more than 200 years, as evidenced by the old cellars below the Piazza in Campomarino and in the old family palace there. The passion for viticulture, inherited first by Luigi and then by Alessio di Majo, is practised in combination with a great interest in research and innovation. As part of extensive modernisation measures, the preparation facilities were supplemented by a granary dating from the year 600, which now serves as a barrique cellar. SUPERIORE.DE
"Di Majo Norante in the region is to be equated with the word wine. This now legendary winery has profoundly influenced the innovation of viticulture within the region."Gambero Rosso
