The grapes for this Bardolino Classico come from the Tacchetto vineyard, located at the foot of the Adige Valley near the village of Cavaion. “Vigna Pedale” Castel del Monte Riserva DOCG 2016
The grapes for Vigna Pedale come from vines that are over 30 years old. The vines are planted in a small tree system, which allows only a few grapes per vine. The harvest does not begin until mid-October, very unusual for a site this far south. Purple dark red. Spicy scent of cherries, thyme, wild mushrooms and earth, the typical, genuine taste is powerful and concentrated with subtle sweetness. This wine is already a great pleasure, but still has potential for the next years. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright ruby red with a drop of violet. In the nose with nuances of Amarena cherries, red beet, also with great spice, of mustard seed, after some time then on noble wood nuances, seems stony. On the palate with clear juiciness, shows a lot of fruit in the core, cool course, balanced and with race, firm pressure in the final." Falstaff
"Smoky spice notes to the ripe raspberry fruit on the nose with hints of roast chestnuts and dried herbs. Medium-to full-bodied with fine, slightly dry tannins and a bright bead of plum-skin and raspberry fruit that together give a tight, fruity finish. Sustainable. Flavorful and fun, but a bit rough at the edges just now. Needs a bit more time to meld together. Try from 2023." James Suckling

“Villa Gemma” Bianco Colline Teatine IGT 2021
The white cuvée Villa Gemma made of predominantly Trebbiano smells pleasantly of peach, mint and flowers. Structured and graceful, with a mineral note, flattering and long flowing fresh taste. Excellent value! SUPERIORE.DE
"Tangy and fleshy fruit with white apricots, chopped apples, fennel and lemons. Some white pepper character. Medium-bodied with bright acidity and a vibrant, zesty and mineral finish." James Suckling
"The 2021 Bianco is lifted and spicy with sharply focused notes of green apple, spearmint and hints of menthol. This fills the palate with round textures, yet possesses a salty core of minerality that stimulates the senses, as lime zests and young pear evolve toward the close. It tapers off long yet fresh and full of tension, leaving the mouth watering for more. The Gemma Bianco does a wonderful job of combining power with refinement." Vinous

“Duca Sanfelice” Cirò Rosso Classico Superiore Riserva DOC 2020
Ruby red interspersed with garnet slivers, intense and concentrated bouquet of red berries, liquorice and some flint. On the palate, the pleasingly juicy extract with nicely balanced wood tones and floral notes is evident. An excellently vinified Cirò Classico Riserva with very noble tannins and harmonious acidity - just as the friend of southern Italian wines loves it. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2020 Cirò Riserva Duca Sanfelice is dark and brooding, with hints of crushed stone giving way to blackcurrant and a touch of mentholated herbs. It is round and soothing, with juicy acidity and ripe red and blue fruits running throughout the wine. The fine tannins provide a gentle draw, while the finish is long and fresh. The tart blackberry flavours slowly fade away. The quality/price ratio here is fantastic." Vinous
"A juicy and balanced red with notes of raspberries, thyme, peppercorns and sour cherries on the nose. Medium-bodied with easy tannins and a lightly spicy finish." James Suckling
"Pure Gaglioppo from romantic old vines, bush-grown, with fine maceration followed by 36 months of ageing in steel tanks, notes of red plums on the nose, with hints of cinnamon, pepper leaf and menthol. Salty on the palate, with a fruity menthol finish." Luca Gardini

“Vigna Monte Ceriani” Soave DOC 2020
Pale yellow, crystalline colour. Harmonious aroma of citrus fruits, especially grapefruit. Powerful on the palate, fresh, long lasting and mineral reverberation accompanied by a wonderful almond/pepper note. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright straw yellow with greenish reflections. Very floral nose, pink grapefruit, elderflower and other herbaceous notes. Mouth-filling, balanced, complex, intense and very dense. Long finish highlighting the contrast between fruity and juicy." Falstaff
"Sweet nuts and lime blossom fill the glass with heady soft clouds of aroma, but the palate has a textural certainty that is anything but soft. The volcanic soils have given the wine a mineral framework, a symmetrical matrix of flint and phenol in which the flesh is deeply embedded. White pears, almond cream, white peach and lime. A hint of finely ground pepper. Fine silvery strands of acidity that thread the whole into a glittering carpet of light. "Sotto voce" splendour now, it will only get more complex, honeyed and exciting in the years to come." Jancis Robinson
"Sun-dried lemon, spiced mandarin and ripe melon on the nose, followed by a generous and intense palate with medium to full body. Almost some hay and candied fruit on the finish, but not in an old-fashioned way. Fresh and bright." James Suckling
"From Ceriani di Colognola ai Colli, historic family estate, 50-year-old vines, from pure Garganega refined in steel only, notes of clementine zest, touches of yellow grapefruit, citrus thyme and hawthorn. Savoury on the palate, citrusy return." Luca Gardini

“Silineo” Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG 2019
Rich and dense ruby red, open and accessible nose with beautiful blackberry fruit, light tea notes in the background. Also in the taste a beautiful fruit, reminiscent of ripe, dark cherries, then hearty tannin and a round finish. You simply can't get more classic Vino Nobile for this price. SUPERIORE.DE
"Deep aromas of black cherries and herbs; juicy on the palate, the firm tannins form a symbiosis with the acidity, combines polish and character into the long final." Vinum
"Dark, powerful ruby. Shows emphatically fragrant notes of cedar, boxwood and pine needles on the nose, some lemon. Juicy fruit on the nose, then opens up with slightly drying tannin on the final." Falstaff
"The bouquet of the 2019 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Silìneo opens as if chiseling into an ashen stone to find a mix of blackcurrants and exotic curries. It has a soft texture, is airier and more refined than expected, with juicy blackberry fruit accompanied by sour citrus and savoury herbal notes. Grippy tannins linger under hints of violet and lavender as the 2019 finishes structured but not austere. The Silìneo is mainly Sangiovese with a little Mammolo and Corolino." Vinous

Valpolicella Ripasso Valpantena DOC 2020
Bertani's Ripasso is a true classic. The grapes come from the hills around Valpantena and from the direct Valpolicella Classico area. The production at Bertani is carried out according to the old traditional method: The young, already fermented Valpolicella wine is blended with the skins, which have dried naturally in the meantime, giving it a richer and more concentrated aroma. It then undergoes a second so-called "ripasso" fermentation, which is triggered by the yeasts that are still sufficiently present in the skins.
Intense purple with violet reflections. On the nose, numerous dark red fruits such as blackberry, currant and ripe cherry. It has a slightly bitter aftertaste, which, with the slightly increased residual sweetness, results in an exciting yet dry impression. Velvety and balanced, with quite a long finish. An ideal wine for the darker months and an excellent companion for strong and aromatic dishes. SUPERIORE.DE
"The original Ripasso wine would have been more of a super-charged Valpolicella than a mini Amarone, and this example is true to that type, highlighting the fresh and lighter style of the Valpantena, a long, steeply sloping valley with a particularly cool microclimate. Clean and fresh with ripe and forward cherry fruit aromas accompanied by subtle dried fruit shadings, it's zingy with positive acidity and lightly exotic fruit flavours, ending with a clean and firm finish." Misco, the estate's second top white product and a Verdicchio matured in stainless steel, exudes an elegant bouquet of floral and aniseed notes. On the palate, it is a magnificent interplay of juice and vigour, spicy tension, fresh citrus notes and aromatic firmness. It is one of the best in its denomination every year. SUPERIORE.DE
"Light golden light yellow; stale-fruity notes, mushroom; full-bodied, almost fruity, delicately bitter, lemony, also fresh mushrooms in the mouth, fresh, juicy." Merum
"Bright, sparkling straw yellow colour. Nobly restrained nose, mineral notes, reminiscent of wet stone, with some lemon and sage behind it. Lots of citrus fruit on the palate, fresh, crystalline clarity, salty, racy acidity, lingering, mouthwatering final." Falstaff
"This four-hectare cru facing the river spends 12 months on the lees without batonnage in stainless steel tanks, giving intense and fresh apple and lemon characters accompanied by floral scents and subtle spice. Soft and smooth, there's a touch of leesy creaminess underlining orange peel and juicy pineapple, peach and baked apple flavours. White pepper notes emerge on the long finish." Decanter
"The 2021 Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Superiore Misco offers a minimalist reading of the grape with very fresh and concentrated flavours of white flowers, cut grass, freshly squeezed grapefruit and a hint of white pepper. The finish has a tangy, electric quality." Wine Advocate
"Always breathtaking, the 100% Verdicchio from Misco from a slightly late harvest. "An expressive, fruity style, this red features cherry, raspberry, plum, floral and wild herb aromas and flavors. Dense and lively, with a lingering aftertaste of red fruit and herbs." Wine Spectator
"This entry-level blend of equal parts Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot offers outstanding value. The 2019 Al Passo shows bright energy and vertical lift. There are aromas of sweet cherry, black pepper, cinnamon and crushed stone. You get a wide spectrum of aromas over a mid-weight body and soft texture." Wine Advocate
"A firm, polished red with subtle blackberry, blueberry and violet aromas, as well as some cedar, following through to a full body with fresh acidity, chewy tannins and a linear finish. Needs a couple of years to open. Try after 2024." James Suckling
"The 2019 Al Passo is rich, ample and generous. Healthy dollops of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon turbocharge Sangiovese, adding depth and structure. Red-fleshed Sangiovese fruit emerges over time. The 2019 is deep and quite fleshy, but it also has a good deal of brightness to balance some of its more overt leanings." Vinous

“Mamertino” Rosso Sicilia DOC 2018
Rich ruby. Elegant cuvée with spicy aromas of black cherry, plum and white pepper as well as an earthy undertone. Clear on the palate with hints of blackberry, the fruit always very fine, nice spice, including star anise, very rounded. Ends with a lot of freshness, elegance and a hint of lemon peel. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2018 Mamertino is dark and earthy, grumbling up with suggestions of plum sauce and grilled herbs complicated by flowery undergrowth. It's soft and round yet quite mineral in style, taking on a crunchy sensation as tart wild berry fruits cascade across the palate. Blackberry hints linger through the licorice-tinged finale. The 2018 finishes grippy and long." Vinous
"This wine shows a bright bouquet supported by lots of fresh fruit. The Mamertino Planeta 2018 smells of fresh summer cherries, dried raspberries and wild plums. It is a traditional blend of 60% Nero d'Avola and 40% Nocera, with a light tannin content. The wine is an approachable and easy-drinking companion to your favourite southern Italian pasta dishes." Wine Advocate
"Intense nose of blackcurrants, black plums, mocha, cloves, cigar box and iodine. Medium-bodied with polished and integrated tannins. Solid mid palate." James Suckling

“La Bandina” Valpolicella Superiore DOC 2019
Dark ruby red. La Bandina is a parade Valpolicella with a very complex, nuanced bouquet of small wild berries, cherries, liquorice and tobacco. Fresh, balsamic and warm on the palate with a dark bouquet of wild berries, chocolate, coffee and plum. A long finish with a very balanced acidity-tannin structure and impressive depth. SUPERIORE.DE
"Medium ruby red with garnet reflections. In the nose of lush raspberry and ripe forest berries, some spice and leather in the aftertaste. On the palate fruity-sweet and with light spice, with well-integrated tannin, persistent final." Falstaff
"The freshest vintage of this wine I have ever tasted. Wonderful acidity. Plum skins and scent of bruised rose petals. Deep thyme-scented cherry fruit; tannins that feel as fine but also as firm as slightly unripe cherry fruit; the scent of rose petal tea, of rooibos; the pungency of blood orange. Lovely depth on the finish with the fragrant zest and freshness of lavender." Jancis Robinson
"Fresh nose of plum fruit, along with pressed flowers, clean minerals and a hint of citrus. Opens on the palate, adding a mushroomy note to the profile that carries through to the finish. Medium-bodied with fine, unobtrusive tannins." James Suckling
"The 2019 Valpolicella Superiore La Bandina opens with a dusting of exotic spice, giving way to grilled sage and black cherries. This is remarkably pure and elegant in style, with silky textures ushering in rose-tinged red fruits as a black pepper hint emerges toward the close. Framing tannins punctuate the red beautifully as the single-vineyard La Bandina finishes spicy with an air of lavender that lingers." Vinous

Dott. Daniele Cernilli, internationally renowned Italian wine journalist, co-founder and long-time editor-in-chief of the famous Italian wine guide Gambero Rosso, has new projects. "Doctor Wine" – a highly active and successful online platform about Italian wine, also in English.
In October 2014, the largest Italian publishing house published its first 550-page "Guida essenziale ai vini d'Italia". Daniele Cernilli, together with a small editorial team and well-known experts, tasted wines from all over Italy and evaluated them according to the internationally proven 100-point system. All wines that score more than 95 points will be converted into "The Guide’s Faces". In the first guide there were 106 wines.
In addition, the producers themselves are also awarded up to three stars, not even 10%, namely only 73 wineries. Cernilli also attaches particular importance to the price-performance ratio, wines with more than 85-90 points and an average selling price of less than 10 euros in Italy, receive a mention. In addition, there are special prices for the white wine, the red wine, the sweet wine and the "savings ratio" of the year, the best vineyard and the best oenologist. SUPERIORE.DE
