    • Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG 2015 (BIO)

Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG 2015 (BIO)

This garnet-red sparkling Vino Nobile inspires us with its fragrance of prunes and a hint of cinnamon and cloves. On the palate a lot of present fruit, fine, sweet melt in the long finish. An authentic and pleasantly elegant organic wine from the heart of the Montepulciano area. SUPERIORE.DE

"Just mid ruby with orange tinges. There is always something candied, gingerbread-like about Vino Nobile di Montepulciano and this is no exception. Not super-expressive on the nose. Deep cherry palate but with an almost light-bodied feel to it, with tangy acidity turning up on the finish. Firm, but polished tannins. Very distinct style of Vino Nobile di Montepulciano – one with a real future." Jancis Robinson

"The price difference between this 2015 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano and the Vecchie Viti del Salco is noteworthy. This more affordable option delivers ripe fruit, dark cherry and blackcurrant folded within spice and delicate hints of campfire ash. It is a pure expression of Sangiovese, otherwise known locally as Prungnolo Gentile. You'll catch a lot of plummy, ripe fruit flavors on the finish." Robert Parker

"Made with organically cultivated Sangiovese, this fragrant elegant red opens with enticing scents of underbrush, sunbaked earth, wild berry, violet, crushed mint and a balsamic whiff of camphor. Smooth and savory, the linear palate has surprising vibrancy for such a hot vintage, delivering juicy Marasca cherry, strawberry compote, star anise and white pepper. Elegant fine-grained tannins lend polished support while a coffee note lingers on the close." Wine Enthusiast

"Aromas of green tomato and tomato leaf segue into plum and cherry flavors in this concentrated red. Leather, iron and sanguine notes chime in as this cruises to a lingering aftertaste. Shows terrific intensity and balance." Wine Spectator

    • "Salco" Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG 2012

“Salco” Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG 2012

A racy and seductive Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. Very intense bouquet of fruit, tobacco, herbs and toasted notes. On the palate voluminous and harmonious round, silky-sweet tannins and excellent length. SUPERIORE.DE

"The 2012 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Salco shows great textural richness spread over a style that is both meaty and concentrated (when compared to its peers on the Sangiovese scale). The bouquet is broad, far reaching and complete. It offers a pretty sense of moderate opulence with dark fruit flavors, spice and leather. Campfire ash and smoke play minor, but interesting roles. The finish is slightly gritty in texture." Robert Parker

"The 2012 Salco, 100% Prugnolo Gentile from the estate's oldest vines, is another wine that exudes depth. Dark red cherry, plum, scorched earth, licorice and dark spices infuse this intense, strapping Vino Nobile. Some rough edges remain, but there is certainly no shortage of either intensity or personality." Antonio Galloni

    • "Salco 2089" Rosso Toscana IGT 2008/2009 <br>MAGNUM in OWC

“Salco 2089” Rosso Toscana IGT 2008/2009 · MAGNUM in OWC

Salco is the name of the best vineyard of the estate. From here, where the Prugnolo Gentile (Sangiovese clone) develops best, the most characteristic wines of Salcheto come. Michele Manelli has always had the ambition to simply make good wines, and so one day he had the vision to marry two vintages of the wines of this location together in order to further improve the quality.

From the best grapes of the powerful year 2008 and the very deep year 2009 a Rosso IGT was created, which interprets the soul of Sangiovese in a unique way. Only a few 100 Magnum bottles were filled with this rare drop! SUPERIORE.DE

"2015 was my 18th harvest. Per European regulations, this means I have been matured properly to make a great wine (according to my free interpretation). Therefore, with Salco 2089 I just want to tell everyone what I mean by great wine: a territory becoming a terroir through its history, years of hard work to make a vineyard mature while different vintages tell you unique stories, hours of tastings to understand how a wine could always be better, and some more time to discover an idealistic moment to drink it. A never-ending story, just like time, and all this - only to be able to say, great! Perhaps it is not a coincidence that this Salco 2089 is a blend of two harvests of a mature vineyard, Salco, vintages so different such as 2008 and 2009 and that it was released for my 18th celebration." Michele Manelli, Önologe

    About the winemakers
    Salcheto
    Tuscany | Montepulciano
    Salcheto

In the beginning, hardly anyone believed that this forward-looking project could be successful. But oenologist Michele Manelli has succeeded in trimming the Salcheto winery in Montepulciano, named after a stream, to sustainability with a very competent team. In order to keep environmental pollution within very narrow limits, there is no electrical light in the basement, for example. Lighting is provided exclusively via light shafts and mirror systems that direct daylight into even the remotest corners. In addition, the Emilia-based tile expert and visionary estate manager was the first winemaker in the world to have the CO2 footprint of a bottle of wine certified. In addition to climate-damaging emissions, water consumption in the vineyard and cellar is also minimised. In addition, a biodiversity index was designed to monitor the biological quality of the soil and the ecosystem on the estate. The Azienda Agricola Salcheto has been named Green Winery of the Year 2014 by the Wine Guide Gambero Rossofor its pioneering ecological role.

Since it began producing wine in 1987, the winery, which has evolved from a classic farm, has almost exclusively used the Prugnolo Gentile grape variety, as Sangiovese is called in the small West Tuscan cultivation zone. Vinification takes place according to the following method "Governo Toscano". Domestic yeasts are used in the fermentation process and no sulphur is added. Determine in the ripening cellar "dope" and tonneaus the overall picture.

The success of Manellis' ecological adventure, which began in 1997 and was based uncompromisingly on biodynamics, can be seen above all in a wine. In the past, for example, each vintage of the Vino Nobile Salco Evoluzione, accompanied by many experiments, reached a reliably high level. This wine, which comes from the most important vineyard of Salco and is named after a willow tree that is widespread in the growing area, is only sold six years after the grape harvest. Salcheto's wines are authentic, elegant and soft. They have distinctive aromas and perfectly reflect the terroirs of the individual vineyards.

To celebrate its 30th anniversary, the Montepulciano-based winery presented the "Bordolese Toscanella" a new environmentally friendly bottle. It should be the lightest wine bottle available on the market. Its elegant shape evokes memories of the history of noble Tuscan drops. SUPERIORE.DE
