Friulano Friuli Colli Orientali DOC 2022
Livio Felluga's Friulano is very fresh and tropical, with nuances of sour melon, young mango and white smoke forming its attractive bouquet. It impresses with a lively acidity that balances the silky texture and ripe fruit, and a spicy herbal note that gives it unexpected depth. Perfumed and fresh to the final, it leaves a pleasant mouthfeel, with hints of bitter almond but also a gentle tug of residual tension. Very nice. SUPERIORE.DE

“Curubella” Pinot Grigio Friuli Colli Orientali DOC 2019
Livio Felluga's new crus come from massalselection. For this purpose, selected vines are reproduced in particularly advantageous locations in order to renew vineyards with especially high-quality vines and to further improve the quality of individual varietal wines.
Named after the small Curubella vineyard, this Pinot Grigio expresses the unique and very expressive terroir in a very special way. Golden yellow with copper-coloured reflections, which are the result of a longer maceration period. On the nose, autumnal notes of medlar, jasmine and white pepper, rounded off by elderberry, marjoram, melon and orange zest. On the firm palate, powerful and expressive of candied fruit, spice with floral elements. In the long finish then traces of acacia honey and pastry. Complex and deep with a very clear personality, freshness and beautiful minerality. SUPERIORE.DE
"Delicate orange pink, a Ramato that is anything but a name. Spicy, salty notes with a hint of bread crust over brooding apricot with a hint of flowers. Restrained at first, then layers of apricot and peach with spice notes and bitter orange on the finish. It would be a shame not to serve this wine with a sole. It has a lot of life ahead of it." Jancis Robinson
"In the local dialect, Curubella means "rounded highland" and describes the land where this massive selection of Pinot Grigio vines was planted in 1981. This traditional Ramato-style Pinot Grigio spends two days on the skins for a delicate copper hue and subtle texture, and is aged in Cocciopesto amphorae - a mixture of sand, gravel and clay used for thousands of years - for a completely neutral but oxidative vessel. The result is a fragrant and leafy aroma, with an intense, creamy and bright palate of green fruits, soft melon, subtle yellow fruits and a floral, lifted finish with more creaminess." Decanter
"Beautiful aromas of cantaloupe melon, rose petals and pear blossom. Medium bodied, growing on the palate with white pepper and peaches with some honeysuckle. Refined. A new wine from a single vineyard from here." James Suckling

“Potentilla” Sauvignon Friuli Colli Orientali DOC 2019
Livio Felluga's new cru wines are the result of massalselection. For this purpose, selected vines are reproduced in particularly advantageous locations in order to renew vineyards with especially high-quality vines and to further improve the quality of individual varietal wines.
The grapes for this very characterful and complex Sauvignon Bianco come from vines planted as early as 1975. It captivates with its creamy texture and, due to the four weeks of malolactic fermentation followed by nine months of barrel ageing. Pure gold in the glass with rich yellow nuances. Opens with summery scents of rose and boxwood, then physalis, passion fruit, nettle, pickled peach and a delicate coriander note. Supple on the palate, of great elegance with complex sweetness, exoticism and citrus fruit. The wood is well integrated and underlines the aristocratic character of this exceptional wine. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2019 Sauvignon Potentilla opens in the glass like a fresh spring morning, with wet stone and cut grass nuances giving way to freshly squeezed lemonade. It's silky and supple on the palate, with depths of ripe citrus-tinged orchard fruits propelled by juicy acidity. Its minerality comes forward through the finish, tapering off salty and savory yet remarkably fresh, leaving sage and grapefruit notes to fade slowly. The Potentilla rests a month on the lees, adding to its textural depth and complexities." Vinous
"From a massal selection of vines first planted in 1975, this wine spent several hours in contact with the skins before alcoholic and malolactic fermentations, and then matured in 15hl casks for several months. The result is a white with intense aromas of tinned peach, yellow plum and cream. Savoury waxiness with texture and weight make this a superb food wine capable of matching up to a variety of dishes. Creamy and woody then slightly earthy flavours of apricot skin, banana peel and bruised apple lead to a long and fresh finish." Decanter
"The name of this wine derives from the flower of the same name, "Potentilla". The name combines the Latin "potenza" for power with the diminutive form of "illa" creating defining the small flower with great power. This is a perfect name for this delicious Sauvignon from the historic Livo Felluga estate. Aromas of white peach, citrus oil and yellow flowers leap out of the glass. The palate is round and texture, due to oak aging, finishing with hints of nectarine, crushed rock and a touch of herb. Beautifully balanced this wine will age quiet well. Drink Now." Wine Enthusiast
"Litchi fruit with kiwi and lemon notes. Very fresh and bright aromas. Full to medium body with lively acidity and a bright, tangy finish. Lime and some graphite come through." James Suckling

Livio Felluga's new crus come from massal selection. For this purpose, selected vines are reproduced in particularly advantageous locations in order to renew vineyards with especially high-quality vines and to further improve the quality of individual varietal wines.
Livio Felluga often stood in the evening twilight, his gaze fixed on the sky, with a cigar, watching the weather. The Friulano vines from which this cru comes were planted as early as 1963, producing medium-sized, loose-grained grapes. Yeast ageing and maturation in terracotta tanks give Sigar its depth and pronounced spiciness and minerality. Golden yellow with greenish nuances. In the complex bouquet fine saffron spice, candied lemon peel, dried apricots and lemon peel. “Eremita” Pignolo di Rosazzo Friuli Colli Orientali DOC 2011
It is reported that the hermit Alemanno chose the hill of Rosazzo as his spiritual retreat in the year 800. Here, about 200 years later, the Augustinians taught the local population the principles of agriculture. It is also here that the Pignolo grape variety can be traced back to the end of the 18th century. Sensitive and low-yielding, it had almost disappeared by the end of the 19th century and was rediscovered and recultivated in Rosazzo.
In 1983, a massal selection of a biotype with characteristically small grapes in the shape of pine cones was planted below the wall of the Antico Belvedere. The material, which is available in very small quantities, is matured in second-age barriques, which tames the naturally strong tannins and makes the wine supple.
Medium, deep garnet red with dark reflections. Expansive, intense and extremely complex bouquet of dried plum, red blackberry, sour cherry jam and tamarind, carried by cigar box aromas, which are followed by hints of blueberry, rhododendron blossom, bracken, violets and elderberries. With further aeration then black pepper, clove, incense, cherry, coffee and cinnamon. On the palate, the exuberant, sheer overwhelming impressions continue with complex and spicy nuances. In addition, there is an impressive freshness and the typical, present tannin, which, however, never seems too obtrusive, but forms a perfect unity together with the great concert of aromas. With further aeration in the glass, one gets an approximate impression of the imposing fullness and complexity of an exceptional Pignolo, which is not without reason one of the terrificred wines in Italy and leads one on an unforgettable journey of enjoyment until the very last sip. "A weird and rather wonderful red with balsamic, cedar, cherry and porcini aromas and flavors. Dried flowers and forest floor, too. Full-bodied with fine tannins. This was aged for five years in old barrels and then the rest in bottle. Fascinating. Chocolate and nutella notes come through. Only 1,000 bottles made." James Suckling

“Sosso” Rosso Riserva Colli Orientali del Friuli DOC 2016 · 6 bottles in OWC
Since the 2016 vintage, Livio Felluga's top wine Sossò has been maturing in the bottle for one year longer before being released for sale. This Riserva is a beautiful, rich and soothing red wine that lays densely across the palate, imparting pretty cherry and dark fruit flavours with plenty of spice and tobacco. The supremely articulate palate shoulders a convincing portion of tannin yet steers into an intensely fruity final with terrificlength. The wine simply glides forward with its unique feel and a dynamism that is slow and long lasting. SUPERIORE.DE

This name is cult in the Italian wine industry. Even though the next two generations have long since successfully managed the winery, Livio Felluga will probably remain a role model for several more generations. After all, he was the driving force and innovator for the entire Friuli wine region for decades.
When he settled here in the Collio, in Brazzano near Cormons, in 1956, he had two world wars including captivity behind him, the home of his childhood in Istria had sunk into the sea, the wine trade of his ancestors no longer existed and the once proud southern region of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy was unnaturally divided by peace treaties, was thus partly in the "Eastern Bloc" and was largely abandoned by the population. But Livio Felluga saw a future in the hills of Rosazzo, founded a small winery, built an advanced cellar with growth potential, recultivated abandoned vineyards and planted new ones - and over the decades built up one of the most successful and internationally renowned wineries in Italy. There is practically no award that his wines have not received, and he himself has been honoured with honorary degrees, becoming Doctor h.c. of the University of Udine and "Patriarch of Friulian Viticulture". He died in 2016 at the age of 102.
The label he designed himself, which shows the estate's vineyards, lives on, as does his philosophy of quality. He still focuses on a mix of different grape varieties that Livio Felluga found "suitable for the land", whether autochthonous such as (Tokai) Friulano, Picolit, Ribolla Gialla or Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso, as well as "international". For he quickly recognized that Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Pinot Bianco and Chardonnay were already at home here before the Second World War, as were Merlot and Cabernet Franc.
The focus is on elegant white wines such as "Terre Alte" from Friulano, Pinot Bianco and Sauvignon or "Illivio" from a selection of the best Pinot Bianco grapes, as well as Chardonnay and Picolit. For some years now, the "Wine of Roses" from the vineyards belonging to the historic Abbazia di Rosazzo Monastery, leased by the Felluga family, has also been included in the range, where old vines from Friulano, Pinot Bianco, Sauvignon Blanc, Malvasia and Ribolla Gialla are cultivated and used only for this top quality wine. With the "Sossó" of Merlot, Refosco and Pignolo, however, Livio Felluga was able to positively surprise many a Bordeaux or Brunello lover in the early 1990s. SUPERIORE.DE
