!["Vertigo" Rosso Venezia Giulia IGT 2021]()
“Vertigo” Rosso Venezia Giulia IGT 2021
Vertigo is a modern, red classic from Friuli that impresses with its elegance and structure in equal measure. A cuvée of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, whose grapes grow in the hilly vineyards around Rosazzo. Deep ruby red in colour with violet hues. The aroma is complex: black cherries, plums, dried herbs, a touch of liquorice and a hint of cedar wood. Powerful, juicy and precise on the palate, with ripe tannins and well-integrated acidity. The short maturation in barriques gives the wine depth without overpowering its freshness. Vertigo always remains drinkable and balanced - a stylish, contemporary red wine with north-eastern origins and international stature. SUPERIORE.DE

“Shàris” Bianco Venezia Giulia IGT 2024
A white wine with a Mediterranean lightness and Friulian signature: Shàris is the charming combination of Chardonnay and Ribolla Gialla - two varieties that show their finest profile here on the marl and sandstone soils of the Collio. Pale straw yellow in the glass with a greenish tinge. Fresh and expressive on the nose: white flowers, ripe pear, citrus fruit, a little honeydew melon and a hint of almond. Smooth and clear on the palate, with well-balanced acidity, fine minerality and a pleasantly dry finish. A cleverly composed Bianco with character that is not overwhelming, but at no stage is it banal - rather a real figurehead for the modern white wine culture of Friuli and, incidentally, the winery's bestseller. Chardonnay Friuli Colli Orientali DOC 2023
A Chardonnay with Friulian soul: the combination of high altitudes, barren flysch soils and temperate climate gives this wine freshness, finesse and character. Light golden yellow in the glass with a greenish tinge. The bouquet is inviting and balanced: yellow apple, white flowers, lemon and a hint of exotic fruit - underpinned by delicate almond and a hint of vanilla, without ever appearing overloaded. On the palate, it is dry, harmonious and clearly contoured, with lively acidity and a fine melting texture. The ageing in stainless steel preserves precision and varietal typicity. ![Pinot Grigio Collio DOC 2024]()
Pinot Grigio Collio DOC 2024
A classic from the Collio, interpreted with aplomb: Livio Felluga's Pinot Grigio impresses with its depth, precision and expression of origin. The vines are rooted in the famous "Flysch di Cormòns" - calcareous marl and sandstone formations that give the wine its subtle minerality. The colour in the glass is a bright straw yellow with golden reflections. The aroma is fine and complex: white peaches, ripe pears, some citrus zest, complemented by floral notes and a hint of roasted hazelnut. Dry, smooth and structured on the palate, with well-integrated acidity and elegant length. Not a banal summer wine, but a serious Pinot Grigio with substance, which is noticeably well-suited to the style of the house - straightforward, clear and with fine depth. SUPERIORE.DE

Livio Felluga's Friulano is very fresh and tropical, with nuances of sour melon, young mango and white smoke forming its attractive bouquet. It impresses with a lively acidity that balances the silky texture and ripe fruit, and with a spicy herbal note that gives it unexpected depth. Perfumed and fresh to the final, leaving a pleasant mouthfeel, with hints of bitter almond but also a gentle streak of residual tension. Very nice. SUPERIORE.DE

![Sauvignon Bianco Collio DOC 2024]()
Sauvignon Bianco Collio DOC 2024
A Sauvignon Blanc from the Collio that seduces rather than provokes. Pale straw yellow with a green tinge in the glass. The nose is complex but never overpowering: elderflower, grapefruit, green pepper, whitecurrant and a hint of sage. Juicy and precise on the palate, with lively acidity, firm structure and cool mineral depth. The maturation in stainless steel tanks emphasises the clarity and aromatic tension of the wine, without tipping over into a garish "gooseberry" flavour. A stylistically finely balanced Sauvignon that brings the potential of the Collio into the bottle with quiet sophistication and authentic terroir expression. Good ageing potential, as is to be expected with all Livio Felluga whites. SUPERIORE.DE

“Illivio” Bianco Friuli Colli Orientali DOC 2023
Illivio is a subtle bridge between Friuli's autochthonous self-image and international nobility - a cuvée of Pinot Bianco, Chardonnay and Picolit, named after the charismatic founder of the estate, Livio Felluga, who sadly passed away in 2017. The vines grow on the characteristic Ponca soils of the Collio - marly, calcareous layers that lend the wines tension, minerality and depth. The 2022 vintage brought ideal conditions: a warm, sunny summer without extreme heat and a dry autumn ensured perfectly ripe, aromatically complex grapes.

A jewel among Italian sweet wines: Picolit is one of the country's great rarities - an autochthonous grape variety whose low yields are due to natural trickling. It was already in demand at royal courts in the 18th century, but today it is only cultivated on a few hectares. Livio Felluga's Picolit 2019 from the Colli Orientali del Friuli comes from select parcels with poor marl and sandstone soils that provide finesse and salty freshness. The late-harvested, selected grapes are partly dried on straw mats. The wine is matured for many months in small oak barrels.

“Sosso” Rosso Riserva Colli Orientali del Friuli DOC 2018 · 6 bottles in OWC
Since the 2016 vintage, Livio Felluga's top wine Sossò has been maturing in the bottle for an extra year before being released for sale. This Riserva is a beautiful, rich and comforting red wine that is dense on the palate, imparting pretty cherry and dark fruit flavours with plenty of spice and tobacco. The extremely articulate flavour shoulders a convincing tannin portion and yet steers into an intensely fruity final with terrificlength. The wine simply glides forward with its unique feel and a dynamism that is slow and long-lasting. SUPERIORE.DE

This name is cult in the Italian wine industry. Even though the next two generations have long since successfully managed the winery, Livio Felluga will probably remain a role model for several more generations. After all, he was the driving force and innovator for the entire Friuli wine region for decades.
When he settled here in the Collio, in Brazzano near Cormons, in 1956, he had two world wars including captivity behind him, the home of his childhood in Istria had sunk into the sea, the wine trade of his ancestors no longer existed and the once proud southern region of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy was unnaturally divided by peace treaties, was thus partly in the "Eastern Bloc" and was largely abandoned by the population. But Livio Felluga saw a future in the hills of Rosazzo, founded a small winery, built an advanced cellar with growth potential, recultivated abandoned vineyards and planted new ones - and over the decades built up one of the most successful and internationally renowned wineries in Italy. There is practically no award that his wines have not received, and he himself has been honoured with honorary degrees, becoming Doctor h.c. of the University of Udine and "Patriarch of Friulian Viticulture". He died in 2016 at the age of 102.
The label he designed himself, which shows the estate's vineyards, lives on, as does his philosophy of quality. He still focuses on a mix of different grape varieties that Livio Felluga found "suitable for the land", whether autochthonous such as (Tokai) Friulano, Picolit, Ribolla Gialla or Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso, as well as "international". For he quickly recognized that Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Pinot Bianco and Chardonnay were already at home here before the Second World War, as were Merlot and Cabernet Franc.
The focus is on elegant white wines such as "Terre Alte" from Friulano, Pinot Bianco and Sauvignon or "Illivio" from a selection of the best Pinot Bianco grapes, as well as Chardonnay and Picolit. For some years now, the "Wine of Roses" from the vineyards belonging to the historic Abbazia di Rosazzo Monastery, leased by the Felluga family, has also been included in the range, where old vines from Friulano, Pinot Bianco, Sauvignon Blanc, Malvasia and Ribolla Gialla are cultivated and used only for this top quality wine. With the "Sossó" of Merlot, Refosco and Pignolo, however, Livio Felluga was able to positively surprise many a Bordeaux or Brunello lover in the early 1990s. SUPERIORE.DE
