• Soave Classico DOC 2018

      Soave Classico DOC 2018

The light yellow Soave Classico has a light and flowery scent of citrus and elderberry, as one would expect. And yet it is not a simple drop, but rather a white wine with an aromatic character and a tasty bite. SUPERIORE.DE

"White fruit; sweet, white-fruity, fine structure, delicate wine, good length." Merum

"Pale lemon. A marine, oyster shell sensation, with flint and crushed rock, over green apple fruit. Bright acidity, orchard fruit and spice, with flinty, rocky minerality and a long, salty finish. Classic Soave." Jancis Robinson

"Pale golden-tinged straw yellow. Delicate aromas and flavors of white flowers and minerals, with hints of honey and spices. Fresh and juicy, with outstanding acid/fruit balance. Finishes long with a slightly chewy, peppery finish. Sneaky concentration here." Vinous

"Beautiful chamomile, green apples, guava peel and pomelo here. Steely and flinty with razor-edged acidity and loads of citrus and spice flavors. Edgy and tense." James Suckling

    • "Monte Carbonare" Soave Classico DOC 2017

“Monte Carbonare” Soave Classico DOC 2017

Soave Monte Carbonare is a wonderfully rich and mineral white wine. Complex aromas of apricots and orange, structured, expansive and generous the taste. Good maturing potential. SUPERIORE.DE

"Subtle fruity notes; juicy acidity, fine, dense, delicately fruity, drinkable." JLF. Merum

"Pale lemon. Ripe pear and camomile, with some integrated, nutty spice and mellow pepper. Brisk acidity, with bright, ripe pear, toasted almond and smoke, refined phenolics and a marked, finish salinity that coats the lips and tongue. Genuinely lip-smacking. Refreshing and long." Jancis Robinson

"Bright straw yellow. Lively aromas and flavors of fresh nectarine, white peach, jasmine, and minerals. Then lemony and juicy, but with very good size to the fresh citrus and orchard fruit flavors. Finishes long and saline with harmonious acidity nicely extending the flavors and providing clarity and cut. An outstanding Soave Classico that offers lots of flavor and only 12.5% alcohol." Vinous

"Crystal-clear purity to this Soave, which shows flint, sliced lemons, chamomile and petrichor. Edgy and vertical on the palate, but flavorful and citrusy. Very mineral and precise. Long on the finish." James Suckling

    About the winemakers
    Suavia
    Veneto
    Suavia

Suavia is the ancient name for the famous wine village of Soave. This naming alone shows the traditional connection of the Tessari family with their northern Italian homeland. The Garganega and Trebbiano di Soave grape varieties, which are unique and autochthonous, are just as deeply rooted in the terroir. They are the only grape varieties cultivated by the winegrowing family on twelve hectares of vineyards. After their refinement in the cellar of the fascinating Veneto family farm, which has risen almost unnoticed in the regional hierarchy, these fruits have an unmistakable expressiveness. Giovanni and Rosetta Tessari, who took over the farm in the picturesque village of Fittà, which is situated on a natural terrace, now work as experienced winegrowers only in the background. Today the winery is managed by her daughters Alessandra, Arianna, Meri and Valentina, who are very well trained and determined to work. The four young sisters give outsiders the impression that they are living in perfect interaction and harmony with their environment.

The vineyards of the small Suavia winery, cultivated with great sensitivity, heart and mind, are situated in the higher hills of Fittà, in the heart of the Soave region. They reach heights of about 300 meters. The plants, most of which are well over fifty years old, grow in very good locations on copper-red, black and grey soils full of basalt and other volcanic rocks. The substrate contains essential mineral trace elements such as manganese and zinc. In addition to the exceptional soil, the climatic conditions in this area are also particularly favourable. The warmth of the day is quickly replaced by a cool breeze after dark.

The rich and astonishingly original Soave wines are given plenty of time to age by the female quartet out of high respect for their historical raw materials. The terroir-faithful plants captivate by finesse, clarity and a magnificent elegance. In addition, as a result of successful experiments, a few more drops are pressed in the family-run business to discover the full potential of the traditional grape varieties. The Tessari family - unlike some large wineries and cooperatives - has never bowed to the commercial pressure of the market and produced wines that are above all inexpensive and uncomplicated. The sisters also do not feel any excessive urge for higher growth. Rather, as members of a family whose roots go back to the 19th century, they would like to write their personal wine history of the Soave. SUPERIORE.DE
