    Le Cinciole

    Luca and Valeria Orsini, owners of the Le Cinciole winery, have formulated the main objective of their work as being a successful combination of quality, tradition and landscape in harmony with nature. The property extends over 30 hectares at an altitude of 400 to 450 metres above sea level not far from the village of Panzano in Chianti Classico. On eleven hectares, some of which are located in the Conca d'Oro lie, wine is cultivated. An olive grove with around 1,000 trees occupies one-sixth of the total land area.

    Since the acquisition of the estate in 1991, the owners have invested a lot in the renewal of the vineyards with better clones. At the same time, they have converted the management of vineyards to environmentally friendly methods. Since 2002 the farm has been certified according to the CE regulation for organic agriculture. Luca and Valeria have decided to grow almost exclusively Sangiovese on their land. Both are convinced that "only this autochthonous variety can be genuine Chianti Classico". The lattice soils above a massive rocky base are particularly suitable for the cultivation of the dominant grape variety. In order to preserve the authenticity of the grapes, the plants are aged to a lesser extent in wooden barrels.

    The two historic wines produced in the Azienda Le Cinciole are the Chianti Classico "Le Cinciole" and the Chianti Classico Riserva "Petresco". The former contains a very small proportion of Canaiolo and is mainly aged in medium-sized barrels of summer oak. The Riserva, which matures in small barriques, is obtained from a selection of the finest Sangiovese grapes from the best vineyards. For the "Camalaione" A plot of land with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah was specially laid out for this purpose.
