“Le Cinciole” Chianti Classico DOCG 2014 (BIO)

The historic Chianti Classico Le Cinciole is the "flagship" of the company and matures mainly in medium-sized summer oak barrels. Floral aromas and the scent of bright red fruits, with undertones of tobacco, leaves and menthol, which develop in the glass to a successful terroir wine, which preserves the fragrance and primary aromas of the young Sangiovese. Pleasantly medium-weight and authentic. SUPERIORE.DE

"Le Cinciole's 2014 Chianti Classico is gorgeous. Translucent, weightless and silky, the Chianti Classico is a terrific example of the year. Lifted aromatics and bright, acid-driven, red-toned Sangiovese fruit are the signatures. In 2014, the Chianti Classico is all finesse." Antonio Galloni

“Le Cinciole” Chianti Classico DOCG 2015 (BIO)

Chianti Classico Le Cinciole matures mainly in medium-sized barrels of summer oak. Floral aromas and the scent of light red fruits, with undertones of tobacco, foliage and menthol, which develop in the glass to a successful terroir wine that preserves the fragrance and primary aromas of the young Sangiovese. Pleasantly medium-weight and authentic. SUPERIORE.DE

"Aged in large oak casks (20 hl) for one year, then one year in concrete tanks. Mid cherry red. Dusty, peppery and vibrant. Really juicy, some might find the acidity too much but it is well balanced by the fruit on the mid palate. Slightly severe on the finish and would be better at the table." Jancis Robinson

"Made from organically farmed fruit, the 2015 Chianti Classico is a lush and fruit-forward expression. You get generous layers of sweet cherry, blackberry, mild spice and crushed river stone. This wine offers the softness and supple richness—as well as the bright freshness—usually identified with the Panzano in Chianti subzone." Robert Parker

"Shows real purity of fruit with blueberries, citrus, cedar and some tar. Medium to full body, tight and grippy tannins and a tangy, medium-long finish. A beautiful Chianti Classico in the making." James Suckling

The deep Chianti Classico Riserva, 100 per cent Sangiovese pressed, with red berries, flowers, spices and liquorice, has a pleasantly warm aroma. On the palate an intense fruitiness with a charming, fine texture and a great balance of sweetness, acidity and tannin. SUPERIORE.DE

"Brilliant ruby with a slightly bright edge. Finely drawn nose, of violets and raspberries, in the background cherry stones and fresh hazelnuts. Round and smooth on the palate, showing a lot of sweet fruitiness, blackberries and plums, fine-meshed, present tannin, long and clear." Falstaff

"Lots of dried raspberries, ash, peppermint and cedar spring from the glass. Full body, ripe and round tannins and a medium-chewy finish." James Suckling

"Showing mid-weight consistency and a nicely saturated appearance, the 2013 Chianti Classico Riserva Aluigi is a tart and tonic expression of Sangiovese with a pretty succession of wild berry, blue flower and moist chewing tobacco aromas. The wine is earthy and healthy in personality with nice brightness and intensity." Robert Parker

"The 2013 Chianti Classico Riserva Aluigi is a very beautiful wine. Succulent red cherry fruit, spice and floral notes abound, but it is the wine's texture and persistence that stand out most. Nuanced and silky on the palate, with terrific fruit purity, the 2013 is positively stellar. I imagine it will be even better in another few years. Even so, it is striking today." Antonio Galloni

Camalaione - a strong cuvée of Cabernet-Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah - smells of dark fruits, menthol, smoke, liquorice and roasted oak. Deep and dense, with excellent persistence and remarkable development in the glass. SUPERIORE.DE

"There is a freshness and brightness to this 2012 with plenty of fruit and walnut, wet earth and sweet tobacco character. Full body, chewy tannins and a long and flavorful finish. One for now and the cellar. Made from organic grapes." James Suckling

"The 2012 Camalaione, the estate's Cabernet Sauvignon-based blend, is fabulous. Deep, rich and explosive, it possesses tremendous intensity in all of its dimensions. An exotic mélange of plum, lavender and spice develops with time in the glass. Camalaione balances its international-leaning personality with a more classic midweight structure that balances things out very nicely. The creamy, resonant finish only adds to the wine's considerable appeal." Antonio Galloni

The finest selection of Sangiovese grapes obtained from the best vineyards. Petresco matures for 18 months in barriques, achieving great depth, harmony and complexity. SUPERIORE.DE

"Aromas of dried berries, fresh herbs and flowers follow through to a medium body, firm, silky tannins and a juicy finish. Some balsamic and spice undertones. From organically grown grapes." James Suckling

"The 2013 Petresco represents specially selected Sangiovese grapes from a single vineyard site in Panzano in Chianti. This is an impressive wine that pushes those Sangiovese color and concentration limits to their maximum extreme. The wine opens to inky darkness with ripe aromas of dried blackberry and blackcurrant. Those fleshy dark fruit flavors are framed by spice, smoke and tobacco." Robert Parker

"The 2013 Petresco, the estate's top Sangiovese, is superb. Layers of fruit fill out the wine's ample frame effortlessly. The 2013 needs time to develop its full breadth of aromatics and overall nuance. Even so, it is beautifully resonant today, not to mention incredibly inviting." Antonio Galloni

A rush of inky black cherry, crème de cassis and floral/savory notes builds effortlessly. Although Camalaione is a blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Syrah and 15% Merlot, it is first and foremost a wine of place. "The 2015 Petresco, the estate's top Sangiovese, is a powerful, dense wine. Even with all of its natural intensity, the 2015 possesses tremendous energy and vibrancy. Super-ripe black cherry, plum, leather, spice, menthol and sage infuse this sumptuous, potent Sangiovese. I would give the 2015 at least a few years to shed some of its baby fat. About the winemakers
    Le Cinciole
    Tuscany | Chianti
    Le Cinciole

Luca and Valeria Orsini, owners of the Le Cinciole winery, have formulated the main objective of their work as being a successful combination of quality, tradition and landscape in harmony with nature. The property extends over 30 hectares at an altitude of 400 to 450 metres above sea level not far from the village of Panzano in Chianti Classico. On eleven hectares, some of which are located in the Conca d'Oro lie, wine is cultivated. An olive grove with around 1,000 trees occupies one-sixth of the total land area.

Since the acquisition of the estate in 1991, the owners have invested a lot in the renewal of the vineyards with better clones. At the same time, they have converted the management of vineyards to environmentally friendly methods. Since 2002 the farm has been certified according to the CE regulation for organic agriculture. Luca and Valeria have decided to grow almost exclusively Sangiovese on their land. Both are convinced that "only this autochthonous variety can be genuine Chianti Classico". The lattice soils above a massive rocky base are particularly suitable for the cultivation of the dominant grape variety. In order to preserve the authenticity of the grapes, the plants are aged to a lesser extent in wooden barrels.

The two historic wines produced in the Azienda Le Cinciole are the Chianti Classico "Le Cinciole" and the Chianti Classico Riserva "Petresco". The former contains a very small proportion of Canaiolo and is mainly aged in medium-sized barrels of summer oak. The Riserva, which matures in small barriques, is obtained from a selection of the finest Sangiovese grapes from the best vineyards. For the "Camalaione" A plot of land with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah was specially laid out for this purpose. According to the landowners, this wine also reflects the special terroir of Panzano. (superiore de)

"The location determination ... in connection with the methods of vineyard management carefully adapted to the terroir, the result is plants that reflect this environment in a way that is as authentic as it is individual."Gambero Rosso 2010
