Chianti Classico DOCG 2021 (BIO)
Classic Chianti Classico from stainless steel tanks with a rich and intense bouquet of black cherries, fresh plums, menthol and liquorice. Full-bodied on the palate, but not voluminous, very Sangiovese-typical. Clearly structured, of pure texture and long. SUPERIORE.DE
"The fine fragrance of cherries, violets and cassis enchants; everything seems delicate, floral, fine, fresh and coherent and lingers for a long time. As always, a bank." Weinwisser
"Brancaia's Chianti Classico is made exclusively from Sangiovese, which is refined in a combination of stainless steel and concrete tanks, bringing out the purity of the variety. The 2021 expresses tobacco, forest undergrowth and black pepper against a backdrop of red cherry. It lacks a little concentration in the mid-palate, but finishes with a satisfying bite and a fresh note of thyme. The strong acidity whets the appetite and makes you want some simple spaghetti pomodoro." Decanter
"The 2021 Chianti Classico is wonderful. Fresh, vibrant and wonderfully nuanced, the 2021 offers a classic Sangiovese profile of crushed red berry fruit, cedar, sweet pipe tobacco and spice. The 2021 is medium-bodied and a good choice for years to come." Vinous
"The organic Brancaia 2021 Chianti Classico shows ripe fruit aromas, blackberry jam and even hints of sun-dried tomato. A velvety and soft expression with a full, medium-bodied mouthfeel." Wine Advocate
"Bright, rich ruby. Finely marked nose with notes of fresh cherries and cloves. Round and supple on the palate, showing lovely ripe cherry fruit, fine-meshed tannin and good drinkability." Falstaff
"Subtle red-fruited character with undertones of red liquorice, orange peel and dry earth. Clean and balanced with medium body and chalky tannin structure. Crisp and lively with a flavourful, mineral finish." James Suckling

“N°2” Cabernet Sauvignon Maremma Toscana DOC 2021 (BIO)
Pure Cabernet Sauvignon from Barbara Widmer's Maremma estate. Strong, deep dark ruby red, animating scent of dark berries, coffee, cocoa, eucalyptus and spices on the nose. In the mouth notes of green pepper, fine sweetness and juiciness. The tannins are polished and pave the way to a long, silky finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2021 No. 2 (Cabernet Sauvignon) is gorgeous. A blast of dark red/blue fruits, mocha, new leather, licorice and incense shows all the textural warmth of the Tuscan coast. This rich, heady red delivers the goods big time. Readers will find a racy, resonant Cabernet that is all generosity and allure." Vinous

Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG 2019 (BIO)
Attractive, juicy Riserva with classic aromas of sour cherries, sour cherries, dark forest fruits and a hint of liquorice. Elegant fruit and fine structure on the palate, compact, well-integrated tannins and an impressively long finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright ruby red with a slightly brightening rim. In the nose fine sweet and clear fruit of heart cherry and plum, with a delicate spicy undertone as well as slightly malty, in the finish with noble wood spice. Balanced on the palate, with fine elegance, fruity stretching over the tongue, with gripping tannin as well as some pressure, hearty in the finish." Falstaff
"The tannins are fresh and crisp, not over-extracted but giving plenty of frame and structure." Decanter
"The nose of this wine is restrained, delicate and approachable. It opens with a strong presence of eucalyptus and sambuca flowers, followed by gunpowder, slate, brick and bright cherries. The palate is still very herbal, making way for ground coffee, chocolate and more cherries. The tannins are still dense but not impenetrable, and the acidity adds crispness to the fruit." Wine Enthusiast
"It has a classic nose of sour cherries, currants, lemon zest, bark and tomato leaves. Medium-bodied with firm tannins and bright acidity. Fresh and light on its feet, yet persistent, long and evolving. Very elegant. Drinkable after 2023." James Suckling
"A classy red, this is notable for the supple texture as much as the cherry, plum, loam, mineral and spice flavors. Dense, vibrant and complex, with fine balance and a long fruity, minerally aftertaste." Wine Spectator
"The 2019 Chianti Classico Riserva is an organic blend of 80% Sangiovese and 20% Merlot. I can't say enough good things about Barbara Widmer and her winemaking in this wild and wooded corner of Radda in Chianti. Her wines are always clear and focused, and this is particularly evident in a mid-range product like this. This vintage certainly offers more concentration and darkness, followed by blackberry and wild plum. There are oaky cinnamon notes and sweet spices in the background." Wine Advocate

“Ilatraia” Rosso Toscana IGT 2018
Deep dark ruby. Opulent nose of red berries, pleasant smoky notes and fine herbal spice. Opulent and round on the palate, the fine tannins give the wine a delicate but definite structure and the necessary seriousness until the long, soft finish. The well-integrated wood and the fruit of the Cabernet grape find an exciting symbiosis with the rather strict and taut Petit Verdot style in a very harmonious way. SUPERIORE.DE
"This blend comes from the Maremma and already shows the generosity of the local landscape in the aroma. Wonderfully juicy dark cherries and morello cherries blend skilfully with chocolate and smoky, dark-roasted notes. Elegant in the mouth, the fruit is precise and finely contoured despite its concentration, the grippy, fine-pored and noble tannin and the juicy acidity wonderfully embrace the meltingly dense body, and a fine dark chocolate flashes in the final. Weinwisser
"Rich ruby red. In the nose of ink, graphite, noble wood, then blackberry and truffle. On the palate with great, polished and clear fruit, spreads out nicely, dense and elegant, radiant, stays long." Falstaff
"The 2018 Ilatraia is a heady, potent wine that captures all of the natural density of Maremma. A blast of black plum fruit, chocolate, dried herbs, licorice and copious French oak lends notable exuberance. Ilatraia doesn't quite have the open-knit charm of most Bolgheri reds, likely because of the booming structure of Petit Verdot and its formidable tannic clout. Even so, there is plenty to like, especially for readers who enjoy big Tuscan wines." Vinous
"Fresh and juicy, this red combines density with finesse, offering plum and black cherry flavors that ply the grainy texture, while vibrant acidity keeps this focused and long. Floral, mineral and rosemary accents chime in as this stays persistent." Wine Spectator
"This is a seriously gorgeous wine, seriously. The Brancaia 2018 Ilatraia impresses from the start, thanks to the wonderful intensity and clarity of its dark fruit, spice and delicately toasted aromas. This full-bodied wine does a terrific job of presenting an Italian or clearly Mediterranean side of the blend with rosemary, dried lavender bud and some of the warm earthy aromas that remind me of walking through a grove of chestnut trees in the fall. This offers a twofold punch of power and elegance." Wine Advocate
"Blackberries and currants with some violet and walnut undertones. Medium-to full-bodied with firm, polished tannins that show balance and focus. Stone and mahogany. Just a hint of chocolate. Racy and fine." James Suckling

"Bright, intense ruby. Opens with slightly smoky notes, then lots of spices, coriander seeds and cardamom, finally dark plum. Full and intense in attack and course, opens with gripping, hearty tannin, grippy, but also shows lots of juicy fruit, long finish." Falstaff
"The 2019 Ilatraia, Brancaia's top wine from Maremma, is racy and lush from the start. A whole range of spicy and savoury overtones envelop the dark blue and blackish fruit. This heady blend is very expressive today. Blackberries, espresso, liquorice and leather climax the lush finish." Vinous
"This wine strides forward with an extremely herbaceous nose, from oregano to thyme to tomato leaf. It also conveys the peppery savoriness of capsicum plus the depth of newly turned soil and a final pop of sour cherries. The palate continues the theme, with more peppers and cherries, but also sundried tomatoes and balsamic vinegar. Polished and consistent tannins make for a fun but slick balance of savory and sweet." Wine Enthusiast
"This is a generous and layered expression with dark fruits, baker's chocolate and elegant spice. I tasted this wine alongside the 2018 vintage, which showed much more balance due to the additional year of ageing. Based on this observation, I recommend a longer drinking window for this wine. The 2019 shows plenty of primary fruit, brightness and concentration." Wine Advocate
"It has aromas of blackberries, blackcurrants, black olives, cedar, dark chocolate, pralines, salted almonds and mint. Also some gunmetal and graphite. Creamy and flattering, with velvety tannins and a full body. Delicious notes of salted chocolate. So much power and concentration, yet it remains elegant. Long." James Suckling

Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG 2019 (BIO)
Here comes the debut vintage of Barbara Widmer's Chianti Classico Gran Selezione. It is vinified from the estate's best Sangiovese grapes, all of which come from clay soils at an altitude of about 200 metres. Complex and very aromatic bouquet with notes of red fruits, herbs, leather, liquorice, rounded off by a fine toasted note. Multilayered and radiant on the palate, never opulent or broad, the well-balanced tannins lead it into a deep and refined finish. Brancaia's Gran Selezione combines the unmistakably aristocratic style of a single-varietal Sangiovese with impressive elegance, even at a young age. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright ruby red. Bright ruby red with a gently lightening rim. In the nose at first fine leather-spicy, then after pepper and malt, in the reverberation fine fruit nuances. On the palate radiant, very fruity with fine salty notes in the undertone, shows good pressure, at the same time very elegant and finesse-rich, lingers long." Falstaff
"Made entirely with Sangiovese, this opens with aromas of violet, mocha and underbrush. The full-bodied, balanced palate offers Marasca cherry, cinnamon and tobacco alongside fine-grained tannins and fresh acidity." Wine Enthusiast
"Round and solidly built, providing support for cherry, plum, earth and woodsy underbrush notes. Starts out juicy, turning dry and leaving a tactile impression on the finish." Wine Spectator
"Introducing the first-ever Gran Selezione from Brancaia, and making an impressive debut, the organic 2019 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione is all Sangiovese fermented with spontaneous yeasts and submitted to a careful 18 months of oak aging. Barbara Widmer and her team hit the right chords in terms of balance, clarity of flavors and intensity. There is a crunchy side to the wine that you only ever taste in the most expertly made Sangiovese-based wines. Freshness abounds with floral aromas, tart fruit and cherry." Wine Advocate

“Il Blu” Rosso Toscana IGT 2019 (BIO)
Since its debut in 1988, Il Blu has been the result of constant striving for perfection. With ultra-fine tannins and a smooth and full finish, this full-bodied wine captivates with its complexity and elegance. Il Blu is made from only the best hand-picked and selected grapes from the two vineyards in the Chianti region. Rich, unfathomable ruby red. Explosive aromas of black cherries and blackberries on the nose. The texture is wonderfully balanced, on the palate Il Blu presents itself fresh, persistently powerful and with wonderfully articulated tannin. SUPERIORE.DE
"The modern blend consists of Merlot, Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine is aged 2/3 in new wood and smells of redcurrant, violets and shows a nice black cherry note. Powerful and intense in the mouth, with firm creamy tannins and sweet currants on the final." Weinwisser
"Dark, bright ruby red with delicate violet tones. In the nose initially rich wood spice, then slightly sweetish hints of ripe forest berries and ripe Amarena cherries, a little incense, reverberating with grated red currants. On the palate with a present fruit core and radiant course, shows itself immediately present, slightly balsamic hints, substantial, currently still very young, will develop very well." Falstaff
"A tightly wound style with aromas of black cherries and blackberries wrapped in dusty tannins. Elements of earth, tar and eucalyptus emerge on the lingering finish. Fresh and balanced." Wine Spectator
"On the nose, this wine is met with blackberries, violets, gravel and tar, while vanilla creeps in later. The palate is a chocolaty, berry mix with peppery and spicy heat that then transitions elegantly into vanilla and baking spices. It's dense but not cloying, with supple tannins and bright acidity." Wine Enthusiast
"The 2019 Il Blu is beautiful. Dark and mysterious in the glass, the 2019 will need at least a few years to develop its full personality. Blue and purple fruits, lavender, sage, mint, liquorice and new leather meld together. This deep, fleshy Merlot-based blend hits all the right notes." Vinous
"A superb blend of 80% Merlot, 10% Sangiovese and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, an organic red wine blend from the wooded hills of Tuscany. The 2019 Il Blu is recognisable by its modern blue label and contemporary wine style. It offers seamless richness, elegant intensity and dark fruit richness. Italians might describe it with the word "ruffiano". The translation is somewhere between "pleaser" and "panderer", but with a positive twist." Wine Advocate
"It has lovely aromas of blackberries, blackcurrants, peppercorns, cloves, mocha, hazelnuts and dried herbs. Polished and creamy, with a medium to full body and firm, velvety tannins. Long, supple and elegant. Delicious already, but even better from 2024." James Suckling

Limitation of 6 articles per customer“TRE Collection 2021” Rosso Toscana IGT 2019 · 6 bottles in gift box
The Brancaia Collection is the latest project of the Widmer family and shows the TRE from a new side. The limited edition with six different label designs is intended to combine enjoyment with art - both aspects that are important to the Widmer family.
The Brancaia Collection series starts with the Swiss artist Niels Blaesi. The task given to Niels Blaesi was simple and very openly formulated: "Design six different Brancaia labels as a series with a single requirement that the two squares must remain". Inspired by the Brancaia logo and the existing wine labels, Niels went to work.
His playful use of the identity-giving square, the figures and the colours turns rooms and objects into narratives. The reduced and colourful motifs in combination with selected details make the Brancaia Collection eye-catching. The results are unique and reflect the character of Brancaia in a fresh way.
The carefully selected grapes come from the three Tuscan vineyards: Brancaia (Castellina), Poppi (Radda) and Brancaia in Maremma (Morellino di Scansano). TRE is a wine full of character that offers great drinking pleasure at an early age. Fruity bouquet with spicy nuances, blackberry and sour cherries. The taste is dense, powerful and soft at the same time. Beautiful wine with finest tannins, elegant finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Dark clear cherry red with garnet reflections. Very aromatic with notes of ripe blueberries, small mustard seeds, cardamom and some mocha. Shows juicy play on the palate, of medium weight, light-footed in the drink, very much fruit embedded in fine tannin, lively finish." Falstaff
"The 2019 Tre is a very pleasant, easygoing wine to drink now and over the next handful of years. Sangiovese, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon are very nicely balanced. Hints of dried herbs, tobacco, mint and sweet cherry linger in this attractive, mid-weight blend from Brancaia." Vinous
"Sweet berries with tobacco-leaf and cedar character on the nose. Medium-bodied with a juicy and rather succulent palate. Creamy and fresh. So delicious." James Suckling

“Il Blu 30 anni” Rosso Toscana IGT 2018 · MAGNUM in OWC
Over 30 years ago, Bruno and Brigitte Widmer decided to add a Super Tuscan to the Brancaia portfolio. Since its debut in 1988, Il Blu has been the result of constant striving for perfection. With ultra-fine tannins and a smooth and full finish, this full-bodied wine captivates with its complexity and elegance. Il Blu is made from only the best harvestedand selected grapes from the two vineyards in the Chianti region. With the 2018 vintage, this now globally recognised wine celebrates its 30th anniversary with an outstanding year and in an elegant special edition.
Every year, Barbara Widmer proves anew how to make a dense, intense red that is nevertheless balanced, elegant and refined. Rich, unfathomable ruby red. Explosive aromas of black cherries and blackberries on the nose. The texture is wonderfully balanced, on the palate Il Blu presents itself fresh, persistently powerful and with wonderfully articulated tannin in the anniversary vintage 2018. SUPERIORE.DE
"Blend of Merlot with a little Sangiovese and Cabernet: The flagship wine of the winery celebrates its 30th birthday these days: Promising aromas of dark forest fruits and blossoms, also fine herbal notes; the attack powerful, the acidity invigorating, the tannins fine-grained and youthful, ends long and opulent." Vinum
"The anniversary wine shows itself extremely stylish. Beguiling, very inviting aroma with dark cherries and blackberries, delicately kissed by the wood barrel with a touch of coconut and chocolate. In the mouth with fine melting and creamy hints, noticeable but supple tannin, more grippy and punchy than the Riserva. Congratulations!" Weinwisser
"Brilliant, rich ruby with a slight violet shimmer. Opens on the nose with notes of mint and smoke, then rich raspberry and dark currant. Juicy and savoury in the attack and course, fine dark berry fruit, crisp, gripping tannin, firm pressure on the final." Falstaff
"Brancaia's 2018 Il Blu is stellar. Dark, layered and enveloping, the 2018 is wonderfully expressive from the outset. Black cherry, mocha, espresso, licorice, cloves and new leather fill out the layers effortlessly. The 2018 balances power with energy, all with plenty of the style that has long made this Merlot-based blend one of the top wines in Tuscany." Vinous
"Beautiful aromas of currants and mushrooms with bark and flowers. Violets and chocolate, too. It’s full-bodied with firm, creamy tannins that are long and poised. It has such attractive tension and focus. Lovely sweet currants and berries at the finish. So succulent and intense." James Suckling

Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG 2019 (BIO) · 6 bottles in OWC

“Il Blu” Rosso Toscana IGT 2019 (BIO) · 6 bottles in OWC
The palate is a chocolaty, berry mix with peppery and spicy warmth that then transitions elegantly into vanilla and baking spices.

The wine gets better with each release and 2015 was an almost perfect year with optimal climate and ideal ripening point of the grapes. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2015 Ilatraia is a drop-dead gorgeous blend of 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Petit Verdot and 20% Cabernet Franc with all fruit coming from Brancaia's Maremma vineyards along the Tuscan coast. This warm vintage has shaped an exuberant and intense red wine that hits the palate with lavish richness. The complex bouquet is composed of dark fruit elements that are contrasted seamlessly against spice, sweet tobacco and campfire ash. Yet the mouthfeel is never too heavy or overextracted. There's a lot to enjoy here." Robert Parker (95 P.)
"Aromas of black licorice and blackberry. Blueberry, too. This is so complex. Full body, extremely silky and polished with lovely tannins. Deep and long. It seems powerful and rich yet ends so balanced and refined. A blend of cabernet sauvignon, petit verdot and cabernet franc." James Suckling (96 P.)
1x 0,75l Cabernet Sauvignon Maremma IGT 2015

Il Blu occupies a firm place among the top wines of Italy and is already considered a classic by many wine lovers. The noble drop comes from the Casa Brancaia in Castellina. "My parents went on holiday to Tuscany in 1981, fell in love with the area, the people and of course with the good food and delicious wine. So they looked for a holiday home - and bought Brancaia, including the vines," says Barbara Widmer, the Swiss woman who actually wanted to become an architect but then decided to study oenology and in 1998 took over her parents' now highly successful winery.
The career changers from Zurich managed to win first place at a major Chianti Classico tasting after only two years of "hobby wine production". And this in not exactly easy times. The rapid initial success made people want to do more and so a steady expansion of activities developed. In 1989 the Widmer couple acquired the Poppi winery in Radda, which has since become the family estate. And nine years later the third estate was founded, in the Morellino di Scansano wine growing area in the Maremma near Grosseto. There the Supertuscan "Ilatraia" is pressed from the idiosyncratic composition with 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Petit Verdot and 20% Cabernet Franc.
Since 1998, Barbara Widmer has been responsible for the wine production and the vineyards as head and leading oenologist. She is supported by the cellar masters Amar Amarouche (in the Maremma) and Fabrizio Benedetti (in the Chianti area) and the excellent oenologist Carlo Ferrini as advisor.
Environmental protection is a priority at Brancaia. Barbara Widmer works according to the guidelines of integrated production. The vineyards are treated with sustainable care, and individual sick or dead vines are manually replanted and nurtured until the roots are strong enough. With the 2019 vintage, the conversion to organic cultivation is completed and all wines are certified organic from this vintage onwards.
Brancaia has long since joined the top group of Tuscan producers. The wines are always at the top of the list at tastings and are highly praised by international wine critics. The elegant wines are matured in two cellars (Chianti Classico and Maremma), which were built according to the most modern principles, in modern containers. New cement and steel fermenters, up to French barriques and tonneaux. Never perceptible, purity, fruit and elegance are always in the foreground.
The Tuscany parade variety Sangiovese is dominant in the Chianti Classico Riserva and Chianti Classico, but also plays a significant role in Il Blu and the base wine Tre, whose grapes come from all three wineries. SUPERIORE.DE
