There are wines that possess that unmistakable clarity that summarises the terroir in a nutshell. The classic Barbaresco from Fontanabianca is one such wine – composed from various parcels around Neive, vinified with the precision that Matteo Pola has made the philosophy of the house in the third generation. Where the single vineyards Bordini and Serraboella express the specific characteristics of their crus, this Barbaresco paints the bigger picture: 5.5 hectares on the typical limestone-clay soils of the municipality, 300 metres above sea level, where Nebbiolo has been developing the elegance that Neive stands for in the world of Barbaresco for generations.

The Barbaresco Tulin is a convincing middle ground in Giorgio Pelissero's range. It has the richness normally found in his wines, but also a good dose of freshness. Floral and spicy nuances interweave with a core of red and purple berry fruit, giving it a striking inner flavour and energy. Tulin is an impressive wine that is characterised by its balance. Here comes the most opulent and friendly Barbaresco of Sottimano's overall highly impressive line-up of single vineyards. Bright garnet red with a copper rim. Lavish scent of black fruits, orange peel, rounded off with a fine nutty note. Michele Chiarlo's Barbaresco Asili comes from vines that are around 30 years old and has a fragrant bouquet with bright and fresh aromas of wild cherry, blackcurrant, raspberry, blue flowers and crushed stone. This vintage shows a level of energy and vitality that makes it stand out from the crowd, and the wine is elegant and silky in texture. The grapes come from the high-altitude MGA Il Bricco near Treiso. Each parcel is harvested separately, fermented in stainless steel with long maceration and then matured classically in large Slavonian and French oak barrels; a small proportion matures in barriques to refine the texture without masking the origin. The 2018 vintage was characterised by a long growing season with a sufficient water supply, a warm summer and a calm autumn. The late, selective harvest yielded pure grapes with a fine acidity line and polished tannins – a subtle, elegant style with early grace and good development prospects.

Vietti's Masseria is always delicate and refined, and this is all the more true for the current vintage.

On gentle hills with calcareous marl soils that store sun and moisture in perfect measure, Nebbiolo produces wines here that combine finesse and depth in equal measure. The 2017 vintage was characterised by a warm, dry summer, during which cooler nights ensured aromatic precision and fresh acidity – ideal conditions for a wine with a strong character and a long life.

Named after a historic property name in the cru parcel, this wine exemplifies Gaja's visionary combination of tradition and innovation. The bouquet is characterised by remarkable clarity and finesse: ripe cherry, redcurrant and delicate floral notes interweave with underlying spice, slightly smoky notes and an elegant layer of aniseed – a balance of precision and expression. The palate is initially velvety and supple, then unfolds with a fine structure, carried by vital acidity and finely balanced tannins. The wine remains focussed and long, with a mineral pulse and restrained power that respects its origins and keeps it alive.
