Ramitello is unjustly overshadowed by Contado. Yet it is a potential favourite red wine that perfectly embodies the intensity of southern Molise. Made from 80% Montepulciano and 20% Aglianico, Ramitello matures for around 18 months, partly in barriques and partly in stainless steel tanks, followed by around six months of bottle ageing. In the glass, it has a deep ruby colour with violet reflections. The bouquet is brooding and complex: ripe plum and blackberry combine with spicy notes of leather, liquorice, eucalyptus and a hint of coffee. The palate shows excellent balance: dense fruit, structured, grippy tannins and a long, fruit-accentuated finish that is characterised by tension and naturalness. In the hills of Panzano, in the heart of Chianti Classico, Valeria Viganò and Luca Orsini have been realising their vision of sustainable viticulture for over thirty years. On thirty hectares of organically certified land between 400 and 450 metres above sea level, they produce Cinciorosso – the charming "little brother" of the Le Cinciole family. The extremely inviting Rosso Toscana IGT combines 70% Sangiovese with 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Syrah and 5% Merlot. The grapes come from younger vineyards on the estate, where the Mediterranean climate and the well-draining Galestro soils create ideal conditions. Fermentation takes place traditionally with wild yeasts in cement tanks, followed by gentle ageing, also in concrete – a process that preserves the lively fruitiness and freshness of the vintage.
