A wine like an ecosystem: "Misto Mare" is no ordinary white wine, but a polyphonic poem of nature from Alois Lageder. The blend combines grapes from over 14 white and red grape varieties from organically or biodynamically cultivated vineyards that are still in the process of converting to organic certification. The grapes come from a wide range of altitudes in South Tyrol – a reflection of regional diversity, captured in a single wine. The name "Misto Mare" refers to the geological past: Around 200 million years ago, South Tyrol was covered by a primordial sea. Today, vines grow there on what was once seabed, their complexity reminiscent of the former depths and the complex balance of marine habitats.

It was precisely this balance that inspired the label – designed by Finnish artist Klaus Haapaniemi, who combines the ocean, earth and cosmos in a surreal, poetic tableau. At the centre: a whale leaping through a world in which the Dolomites, coral reefs and baroque wallpaper motifs merge into a visionary narrative. It is an invitation to cross borders – not only visually, but also in terms of flavour.

Straw yellow in the glass with silvery reflections. The nose opens cool, herbal and salty, followed by a round dance of citrus zest, ripe pear, white flowers, a hint of ginger, some stone fruit and a hint of yeast. Balanced and multi-layered on the palate, with fresh acidity, a slight tannic grip, subtle spice and an animating flow. The finish is juicy, mineral and has a fine bitter note. "Misto Mare" is a multi-layered white wine with an individual style – based less on varietal typicity than on origin, sustainability and the idea of togetherness. A wine that cannot be categorised, but speaks its own language: lively, organic, changeable.
