“Serra del Conte” Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico DOC 2023
The Serra del Conte is very classic: straw yellow in colour with greenish reflections, fresh and fruity aroma, delicate and spicy taste with a beautiful, balanced structure. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2023 Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Serra del Conte seduces with a confectionery blend of tropical melon, candied lime and sweet spice. This sweeps across the palate with ease, soft-textured yet energetic, with mineral-tinge white pit fruits that swirl throughout. It finishes fresh and with medium length. A pleasantly tart, lemony concentration slowly fades." Vinous

“Supèra” Verdicchio di Matelica DOC 2023
The Garofoli winery is a true winemaking jewel from the Italian Marche region and is known for its terrificVerdicchio from the Castello di Jesi DOC. And so it is no surprise that the family business is now also showing what it can do in the Matelica DOC. This is where some of the best wines of their kind come from, mostly from the higher vineyards: complex, mineral, fresh and long-lasting.
Bright straw yellow with green reflections. Intense aroma of meadow flowers and white stone fruit on the nose. Beautifully balanced acidity on the palate, mineral and with fine citrus notes, salty on the finish. Supèra is an interpretation of Matelica in the style of Garofoli - with a combination of tropical flavours and the austere minerality so typical of the region. Great, and not just because of the attractive price. SUPERIORE.DE

“Piancarda” Rosso Conero DOC 2020
Rosso Piancarda is intensely flavoured and perfumed, with medicinal cherries and raspberries complemented by dusty roses and sweet cedar wood notes. On the palate, Piancarda turns to the savoury spectrum. Salty and full of savoury minerality, it shows spicy red fruits, a hint of plum and a lively acidity that keeps the expression fresh. The grippy tannins remain until the final, while the notes of sour citrus fruits and tart berries slowly fade away. SUPERIORE.DE
"Shimmering ruby red colour with a deep dark core. Juicy plums on the nose, with a hint of ginger and a slightly animal note. Grippy and savoury on the palate, with dense tannins, lush fruit and a pleasantly juicy final." Falstaff
"The 2020 Rosso Conero Piancarda, a Montepulciano grape variety, rises from the glass with a dusty mix of dried roses, redcurrants and a hint of nectarine, creating a truly inviting bouquet. The wine is silky and elegant, almost creamy, yet sublime and cool, with mineral forest berries and a saline note adding a savoury touch towards the end. The 2020 leaves a layer of fine tannins as inner flowers arch across the palate and a minerality slowly fades. The warm vintage has given this wine a particularly soft character, but the structure and acidity of the Piancarda are beautifully balanced and should favour medium-term cellaring. Put a few bottles in the cellar, you'll thank me later. " Vinous

“Podium 30 anni” Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Superiore DOC 2021
The Verdicchio Podium has a strong personality with its aroma of citrus fruits, broom and lime blossom, tropical fruits and almonds. The flavour is perfectly structured, balanced and dynamic in its various components, spicy, mineral and with an unbeatably harmonious, spicy finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2021 Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Podium is delicate and coy, requiring coaxing to release its pretty bouquet of young peach, raw almonds and sweet smoke. This is elegant, with textures of pure silky and admirable weight, yet maintains marvelous energy throughout. Fresh acidity and saline minerals enliven its rich, ripe nectarine and pear core. The 2021 finishes long and staining, leaving a youthful tension as vanilla custard and candied citrus fade. While perfectly enjoyable today, this is a vintage for the cellar. It bears mentioning that the Podium is produced without any oak, only stainless steel and cement, so we are tasting pure fruit." Vinous

“Serra Fiorese” Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Riserva DOC 2021
Garofoli's Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Riserva Serra Fiorese is initially rather restrained in the glass with delicate nuances of yellow flowers, peach skin and a hint of spices. It is then powerful on the palate with rich peach and nectarine notes accompanied by zesty citrus fruit. It leaves an aftertaste of tension and whets the appetite for more with its salty minerality and a hint of baked apple that lingers for a long time. The Serra Fiorese, vinified in small batches, is a barrel-matured and fermented Verdicchio that needs to be given a certain amount of time to experience its undisputed greatness, and then it is great! Metodo Classico Spumante Rosé 2013 VSQ brut
Garofoli's vintage spumante in radiant rosé opens with a surprisingly complex bouquet in which a fine yeasty note is surrounded by wild berries, cassis and dried raspberry. The perlage is creamy, the wine glides gently over the palate. Delicate and powerful at the same time. SUPERIORE.DE

“Grosso Agontano” Rosso Conero Riserva DOCG 2020
Grosso Agontano Riserva rises dark, floral and earthy from the glass, with notes of undergrowth and tobacco that fade into blackberry and gravel. Its velvety texture leads to a sophisticated presentation of red and black fruits, underpinned by cool herbal notes, while the fine tannins slowly saturate towards the end. The finish is long, youthfully structured and with a pleasant inner sweetness, while nuances of tangerine and sour cherry linger under a hint of violet blossom.
Agontano is a 100% Montepulciano that is refined in barriques in the second passage. It is a very attractive interpretation of the grape variety and still needs some time in the cellar to show its best side. SUPERIORE.DE
"The Conero Riserva Agontano 2020 is dark and intense. A cascade of violet flowers and lavender gives way to crushed blackberries accompanied by hints of cocoa and camphor. The wine is soft and enveloping, with polished red and black fruits accompanied by lively acidity. Fine tannins build slowly towards the end. The Agontano leaves behind chalky mineral tones and a bitter espresso note that lingers until the long and structured final. The 2020 is complex and beautifully balanced, but also very young. We will have to be patient." Vinous

Wine experts consider it a jewel among the wineries of the Marche: the tradition-rich and magnificently renovated Garofoli winery. After Antonio Garofoli had already produced and sold regional wines in 1871, his son continued his work, took over and expanded his father's activities and finally founded the Gioacchino Garofoli wine house in 1901 near Loreto, Italy's second most important place of pilgrimage after St. Peter's Basilica in Rome. After the Second World War, Gioacchino's sons Franco and Dante transformed the business into a company that underwent considerable development from the 1950s onwards. Today, the winery is run by the brothers Carlo and Gianfranco Garofoli. While one is responsible for production as an oenologist, the other takes care of the economic matters. Gianfranco is also president of the consortium Istituto Marchigiano di Tutela Vini. In some areas, the management duo is supported by Beatrice, Gianluca and Caterina, already the fifth generation. Gianluca, for example, now travels all over the world to present the family's fine wines.
The Garofoli winery has become synonymous with top quality with reliable top products present in all important markets. The varied assortment of wines with strong personalities and stylistically precise wines consists of sparkling and sweet wines, but above all of wonderful Verdicchio variations. The majority of the moderately priced wines are made from the Verdicchio grape. The wines have been praised by the critics' guild for years and are produced in the winery in Serra de' Conti. The Montepulciano grape variety is also very important. The grapes are grown on the calcareous soils of the DOC Rosso Conero and processed in the estate in Castelfidardo, which is also the company's commercial and administrative centre. But Sangiovese, Malvasia, Trebbiano or Bianchello are also components of the vine portfolio.
The grapes of the joint-stock company Garofoli, located within sight of the Adriatic Sea, are obtained from four of the company's own vineyards on the one hand, but are also purchased from contractually bound winegrowers who have been supplying raw materials for years. To preserve and develop the primary and secondary aromas, the white wines are stored in underground tanks or in cooled stainless steel containers. The red wines are aged in 30 to 40 hectolitre Slavonian barrels or in 225 litre French oak barriques. For the production of the Charmat method sparklers and the sparkling wines, stainless steel tanks with temperature control are used, which allow for a longer secondary fermentation and thus sparkling drops of pronounced fineness. SUPERIORE.DE
"Carlo and Gianfranco Garofoli's strength lies in a complete range of top wines that express the best regional characteristics with multiple labels. Together they have taken their winery to the highest level in its history." Gambero Rosso
