“Spezieri” Rosso Toscana IGT 2021 (BIO)
Ruby red colour, fresh nose of red fruits and spices. Pleasant flavour: fruity, balanced in tannin and acidity, very lively and crisp. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright ruby red colour. Still somewhat restrained on the nose, of ripe cherry, rosehip and cloves. Opens on the palate with clear fruit and animating acidity, fine, young tannins." Falstaff
"This tightly wound red's chewy tannins maintain a stranglehold on the wild strawberry and cherry fruit. Accents of earth and tobacco add detail, yet the finish feels pinched for now." Wine Spectator
"The nose balances savory, slightly astringent aromas of coffee, soil, pepper and balsamic with sweeter notes of cherries and blackberries. That berry element glows on the palate, but an enduring peppery earthiness preserves the balance. Firm tannins usher the acid into a sophisticated, salty finish." Wine Enthusiast

“Rubio” Rosso Toscana IGT 2021 (BIO)
Brilliant ruby red colour. Intense bouquet of small red berries, cherries and a violet-spice component. Warm and full flavours of forest fruits and cherries on the palate, flanked by a solid tannin structure. The finish is soft and long, medium-bodied and very elegant. SUPERIORE.DE
"Light ruby red with violet reflections. Lots of violets and cherries on the nose, mineral notes. Juicy, refreshing on the palate, animating acidity structure, delicate tannins, subtly salty on the finish." Falstaff
"The nose is smoky, sanguine, peppery and earthy, but then opens up with aromas of blood orange, blackberry and black cherry. More pepper and earth with red plum on the palate preserve the overall sanguine feel, while the bitterness of an enduring blood orange note bites back against taut tannins and bright acid." Wine Enthusiast
"Aromas of redcurrants and cherries with spiced orange peel, red liquorice and cocoa. Medium to full-bodied, compact and concentrated with depth and a velvety texture. Well integrated and long-lasting." James Suckling

“San Biagio” Rosso Toscano IGT 2021
The sophisticated Rosso San Biagio combines sour cherry, peppery herbs, leather and dark earth tones to create a tasty and wonderfully inviting entry. The textures are soft, but the fruit is ripe and fleshy, with notes of sour citrus and juicy acids that maintain freshness while keeping the energy high. This wine is dangerously delicious and finishes long with hints of blackberry and spice. SUPERIORE.DE
"Sparkling ruby-violet with a slightly brightening rim. Very clear and intense nose with lots of rich blackberry fruit and dark currants, some bay leaves. Round and polished on the palate, fruit well brought out on the attack, then shows some harsh tannin, slightly drying." Falstaff

“Non Confunditur” Rosso Toscana IGT 2021
Rosso Non Confunditur from Argiano is made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Sangiovese. The wine opens with a dark ruby red colour and aromas of wild berries, flowers and red berries. On the palate, it fortunately does not show the cloying heaviness or dense extraction found in many other protagonists of the Super Tuscan category. In fact, NC is accessible and fresh, rounded off with a good level of crisp acidity and a well-proportioned body. SUPERIORE.DE
"Dark ruby red with violet shimmer. Compact nose, ripe plum, coffee and dark chocolate. Powerful and juicy on the palate, builds up a lot of pressure, refreshing acidity and ripe tannins, medium-long final, slightly brittle at the end." Falstaff
"Taut and straightforward in profile, this red offers blackcurrants, black cherries, vanilla and peppery spices. It tightens up on the finish, where the chalky tannins linger." Wine Spectator
"The nose is simultaneously earthy and sweet, with notes of cherries, chocolate, tree bark and underbrush. That cherry-chocolate sweetness takes center stage on the palate, before tannins clear through them to resuscitate the earth tones." Wine Enthusiast

Rosso di Montalcino DOC 2021
Intense, dense ruby red colour. The nose is caressed by fruity notes reminiscent of berries, finishing with coffee flavours, dark chocolate and roasted wood. On the palate, it is perfectly balanced with a wonderfully balanced texture and a convincing final. A fresh and lively Rosso - harmonious and round. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2021 Rosso di Montalcino is impossible to ignore, wafting up with a mentholated freshness that gives way to hauntingly dark florals and crushed blackberries. It's soothingly round and supple with ripe red fruits and cooling acidity as a flourish of sweet spice emerges toward the close. It leaves a licorice and a bitter balsamic tinge while maintaining a lovely freshness. Fanti did a wonderful job with the dry warmth of the vintage. I'm looking forward to tasting this Brunello in a few years." Vinous

Rosso di Montalcino DOC 2021 (BIO)
Poggio Landis Rosso di Montalcino is a fruit-driven, enjoyable red wine that offers all the prerequisites for great food pairing. It offers juicy freshness, spicy floral scents with a hint of sage, then a balanced, invigorating acidity and mild tannins on the palate. A delicious and energetic red with an excellent value for the noble region. SUPERIORE.DE
"A blend of savory herbs, leather and black cherries wafts up from the 2021 Rosso di Montalcino. It’s silky in texture, yet with a pronounced acidity that creates a reverberation of tension, as tart red fruits and mineral tones add further contrasts. The 2021 leaves a staining of primary concentration, along with a coating of fine tannins, while finishing with admirable length. Give this zesty Rosso at least a year in the cellar to even out a bit and blossom aromatically, as it has the balance to evolve very nicely." Vinous

Rosso di Montalcino DOC 2020
Bright ruby red. Very lively nose of bright berries and blackcurrant with sweet, spicy components. Crisp yet balanced acidity on the palate with a racy mix of fresh fruit and sweet extract spice. A cool but very authentic representative of its kind, it never pretends to be more than it is, but brings enough to be one of the most finessed Rossi of the vintage. It is de facto a very successful wine of a pleasing purity with a clear commitment to the appellation. SUPERIORE.DE
"Ruby red. In the nose cherry, black currant, fresh cherry, with spicy aftertaste. On the palate with juicy tannin, shows considerable structure for a Rosso, elegant and persistent final." Falstaff
"The 2020 Rosso di Montalcino is wildly attractive, with sweet violet florals, sugar dusted blackberries and smoke forming its bouquet. It washes across the palate with grace, soft-textured and round, while leaving a staining of wild berries under an air of blue and purple floral perfumes. Gently tannic, yet more of an accent than an obstacle, the 2020 finishes with medium length, leaving hints of licorice to slowly fade." Vinous

Rosso di Montalcino DOC 2022
Made from 100% Sangiovese grapes sourced from various vineyards in the south-east/south-west of the municipality of Montalcino, from altitudes between 250 and 400 metres above sea level. The soils are south-east facing and have a sandy texture with limestone slabs and abundant skeleton. Aged for several months in French and Slavonian oak, followed by bottle ageing. Intense ruby red colour with violet reflections. Intense, fresh and fruity aroma, with characteristic notes of cherry, plum and sour cherry. The flavour is soft and mineral, with a good structure and well-balanced tannins. SUPERIORE.DE
"Dark, rich ruby red colour. Lots of barrel spice on the nose, dark cherry, marzipan, rosemary and dried herbs on the finish. Very rich on the palate with dark fruit and perceptible precious wood, rich in structure." Falstaff
"The 2022 Rosso di Montalcino is dark and brooding, with a cascade of wild herbs, earth tones, dried cherries and hints of smoke. It is soft-textured and round, with pretty red berry fruits and hints of spice. The 2022 leaves a gentle tug of primary concentration and a mineral tinge while finishing with impressive length." “Ciampoleto” Rosso di Montalcino DOC 2022 (BIO)
Medium ruby red colour. Fine, red berry bouquet with hints of blackcurrant, black cherry, sage and smoky notes. Firm and expressive on the palate; multi-layered flavours of ripe wild berries, spices and a delicate almond note are flanked by velvety tannins. Ciampoleto has impressive depth and structure for a Rosso, and the respectable finish leaves a soft cherry note with traces of liquorice and a salty vein. SUPERIORE.DE
"Dark, bright ruby red with cherry-red edges. Dark forest berries and nutmeg on the nose, subtle hints of vanilla and roasted almonds. Juicy on the palate, with fine-grained tannins, creamy fruit flavours and animating tension, with a slightly bitter final." Falstaff
"The 2022 Rosso di Montalcino Ciampoleto is wonderfully unique, savory, nearly smoky and mineral in character with a burst of grilled herbs, crushed rocks and dried black cherries. This is surprisingly lifted and spry with vividly ripe wild berry fruits and sweet spices that swirl throughout. It leaves a pleasantly chewy concentration to linger on as rosy inner florals and licorice cascade across a bed of edgy tannins." Vinous
"Graceful nose of liquorice root, restrained raspberries and pressed violets. The attack is firm and crisp, as you'd expect from Sangiovese, but with supple cherries and ripe tannins. The finish is chewy and chalky, but dynamic." James Suckling

Limitation of 6 articles per customer“Per Emma” Ciliegiolo Toscana IGT 2019
Since the 2015 vintage, Piancornello has been vinifying a small-batch Ciliegiolo of 4,000 bottles that is solid, deep and very distinctive. Intense, ruby-red colour. The nose reveals very pure, straightforward aromas of ripe cherries and sour cherries, rounded off by spicy notes and hints of medicinal herbs. In the mouth it is rich, with noticeable tannins, but well inserted into the structure, of solid body and with a tasty, long finish of good complexity. SUPERIORE.DE
"A pure expression of one of the Tuscan indigenous grapes often used as a blending agent with Sangiovese, the Piancornello 2019 Ciliegiolo Podere del Visciolo Per Emma gives us a chance to consider Ciliegiolo on its own merits. This is a pretty but simple wine with sweet cherry perfumes backed by very light hints of cola, lavender bud and crushed limestone. “Per Caterina” Colorino Toscana IGT 2018
The new single varietal Colorino Per Caterina opens with a slightly darker colour and more garnet concentration than the Ciliegiolo and Sangiovese produced at Piancornello. This autochthonous grape variety usually adds colour to traditional red wine blends and on its own the grape offers a nice fibre and density, flanked by powerful primary aromas and some black pepper. A pure and rather purist wine with a fresh, bright acidity - for us an ideal companion to grilled meat. SUPERIORE.DE

“La Caduta” Rosso di Montalcino DOC 2020
Dark and rich in the glass, with spicy herbs and a hint of cinnamon that fades into black raspberries. La Caduta is luxurious, silky and round with a dense wave of mineral red and black fruits that slowly saturate the palate. The finish is structured and incredibly long, with hints of salted liquorice and spice that linger. La Caduta is a real Rosso insider tip alongside Fuligni's Ginestreto and is full of potential every year. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright ruby red colour with brightening edges. Shows a certain depth on the nose, reminiscent of violets, cherries, blackberries and blood oranges, fine spice and some leather. Juicy and with fine pressure on the palate, showing clear fruit and a velvety texture, with a lingering final and good persistence." Falstaff
"Attractive nose of dried cherries, candied oranges, chocolate and walnuts. Medium- to full-bodied, tense and fleshy on the palate, with firm but very fine tannins. Juicy and spicy." James Suckling

The Brunello di Montalcino is one of the most legendary success stories in viticulture in Italy. If not worldwide. Although a wine known as Brunello appears in old documents as early as the 14th century, it was born in 1888, when Clemente Santi first described a wine from his own Sangiovese clones, selected for years, as Brunello on the estate of his family Biondi-Santi, Il Greppo. He allowed the wine to mature for several years in large Slavonian oak barrels. Since until 1945 only four vintages were produced (1888, 1891, 1925 and 1945), the wine was in conversation because of its quality and became known beyond the borders. Today one would probably say cult wine to it. Because it was so rare, but at the same time of legendary quality, it also fetched an incredibly high price - for Italian wine until then. For a long time, Biondi-Santi was practically the only manufacturer, at least until the 1970s it was still the largest. Biondi-Santi is still one of the showpiece wineries today. And one of the most expensive.
In 1966 Brunello di Montalcino became DOC, in 1980 the first DOCG in Italy, both simultaneously with the "little brother" Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. There were just 63,583 bottles of Brunello di Montalcino from the 1980 vintage and today there are over 10 million bottles. The then 700 hectares of cultivated land became 24,000 hectares, but only 3,500 for Brunello. The number of producers increased tenfold, among them many investors, also from abroad, who already leaf out half a million euros for one hectare that allows Brunello cultivation.
Brunello di Montalcino is subject to strict production guidelines that are monitored by the Consorzio del Vino Brunello di Montalcino. Each bottle carries a band with a number with which the wine can be traced back to the producer. All producers are represented in the Consorzio. By the way, this is the only Consorzio in Italy where this is the case. The yield is regulated, as are the grape varieties used for wines from Montalcino - Brunello, Rosso, Sant'Antimo and Moscadello di Montalcino - may be used.
For Brunello di Montalcino this is 100% Sangiovese. Even today, the majority of clones can be traced back to the selection of Biondi-Santi. In recent years, clone selection has also been carried out at Castello Banfi under scientific direction. Here the Sangiovese grape is also simply called Brunello grape. Experts also call it Sangiovese Grosso because it is a clone with slightly larger berries than in Chianti, for example.
Rosso di Montalcino also requires 100% Sangiovese, although the yield may be slightly higher and the wine marketed earlier. At Rosso Sant'Antimo other grape varieties are also allowed, but the main variety must always dominate at least 70%. Other red wines, mostly cuvées, are labelled as Rosso Toscana IGT.
Montalcino is a small mountain town about 40 kilometers south of Siena. The vineyards are located in the surrounding hills at altitudes between 120 and 650m above sea level. The climate here is hot and dry, but is tempered by the altitude and the steady winds. The Sangiovese matures particularly well here. The soils are stony and barren throughout, the vines must have deep roots, which promotes minerality.
Brunello may not be put on sale until after 1 January of the fifth year following the harvest. Before that, at least two years in the barrel (usually four) and subsequent bottle storage are required. In the case of Riserva, the ripening period is extended by one year. Names such as Altesino, Biondi Santi - Il Greppo, Casanova di Neri, Castello Banfi, Ciacci Piccolomini, Donna Olga, Il Poggione, Lisini, Mastrojanni, Poggio Antico, Siro Pacenti, Tenuta Fanti, Uccelleria or Valdicava have made the wine-growing region great. International awards are given year after year, the success: most of the top wines are exported and achieved considerable prizes. SUPERIORE.DE
