• "Sirmian" Pinot Bianco Alto Adige DOC 2019

“Sirmian” Pinot Bianco Alto Adige DOC 2019

High-class Pinot Blanc from the South Tyrolean Wine Route, or more precisely from the exposed altitude of Sirmian, where the Pinot Bianco finds its ideal location and an optimal microclimate. This is why it is of remarkable quality every year. Clear and straw-yellow sparkling in the glass, intense bouquet of light blossoms, green apple, red currants and a hint of sage and nutmeg. Harmonious, powerful and persistent on the palate, with a full flavour typical of the grape variety and a beautiful melt, mineral finish. SUPERIORE.DE

"Rich straw yellow with a slight cloudiness. In the nose of freshly cut apple and crisp pear, still quite restrained. Shows on the palate with elegant yellow fruit and elegant melting, stretches out a wide dress, fresh and juicy, excellent foresight." Falstaff

"Creamy and delicious, this elegantly structured white opens with inviting aromas that recall sun warmed hay, chamomile, ripe pear and freshly prepared bread dough. The full bodied, rounded palate features mature apple, hazelnut, baking spice and savory saline mineral notes alongside fresh acidity." Wine Enthusiast

"Sliced cooked apples with limes and some stones. White peaches and minerals, too. Full-bodied with creamy texture and lovely fruity. Focused and persistent. A great white." James Suckling

"Drying mineral tones and crushed limestone open the bouquet of the 2019 Alto Adige Pinot Bianco Sirmian. Those distinctive mineral tones pivot smoothly to white peach and crunchy pear, near perfect for some raw oysters on the half shell. Pinot Bianco is the grape that best reflects the brilliant luminosity and crispness of high-altitude winemaking in the Italian Dolomites." Robert Parker

    • "Manna" Bianco Vigneti delle Dolomiti IGT 2019

“Manna” Bianco Vigneti delle Dolomiti IGT 2019

The vineyards of the five grape varieties are located at altitudes between 350 and 800 metres above sea level and face southwest. The vines grow on dolomite, porphyry, sand and marl soils.

As a young wine, Manna has golden yellow hues, after a few years of ageing they turn into strong golden tones. Manna is very special: complex, multi-layered with the bouquet of elderberry, pistachio, apricot, nutmeg and delicate rose petals. Concentrated, voluminous and at the same time elegant and complex on the palate. A wine that can be discovered from different perspectives in the course of its development and unfolds its character more and more. Even the young wine changes in the glass and surprises again and again. SUPERIORE.DE

"Intense bright straw yellow with light golden reflections. In the nose delicate notes of nutmeg and lychee, a hint of apricot, also of freshly mown meadow, a potpourri of yellow fruity aromas. On the palate with a fruity-sweet core, compact, with racy acidity and gentle pressure, beautiful mood arch, currently still very young, will really shine in a few months." Falstaff

"Pretty aromatics of candied citrus, orange peel, grapefruit and lime marmalade, palate of aromatic herb and focused acidity." Decanter

"Wonderful nose of yellow rose and floral honey, then the candied-citrus freshness kicks in on the succulent and vibrant palate. Plenty of minerality at the long, supple finish. A truly unique dry white that exists outside all the conventional categories." James Suckling

"The screw-capped 2019 Manna is a blend of 40% Riesling, 20% Chardonnay, 15% Gewürztraminer, 15% Kerner and 10% Sauvignon Blanc. Only the Chardonnay and the Sauvignon Blanc are fermented in oak. The wine's bouquet is quite elaborate and layered, and it's nearly impossible to make out any one single variety. Instead, the carefully integrated blend presents a vibrant bouquet with stone fruit, preserved lemon and some spicy cumin seed. I could see this wine pairing with chicken marinated in Moroccan spices. There is an evident floral component as well with honeysuckle and jasmine, and lastly, the wine delivers a pretty mineral note that sings out loud and clear." Robert Parker

    • "St. Valentin" Sauvignon Bianco Alto Adige DOC 2020

“St. Valentin” Sauvignon Bianco Alto Adige DOC 2020

Sauvignon Sanct Valentin is probably the best-known white wine of the St. Michael-Eppan Winery. Since 1989 it has been vinified from carefully selected single vineyards at the foot of the Mendelstock. Yellow-green colour, dense bouquet of yellow fruits, gooseberry, elderflower and ripe currant, smooth on the palate with elegant, floral fullness and crisp acidity. A great top wine and probably the most awarded white of the internationally highly respected winegrowers' cooperative. SUPERIORE.DE

"Bright yellow-green. Comes out of the glass full, clearly of pepper, flint and green pepper, underlaid with light herbal spice. Shows a lot of tension on the palate, racy, compact acidity, pulls tightly over the palate, long lasting final." Falstaff

"An explosively fresh and very expressive sauvignon blanc with tons of cassis, elderflower and gooseberry aromas, but also just a whiff of green bell pepper. As clean and refreshing as an Alpine stream, the considerable power is beautifully underplayed, thanks to the vibrant and mineral acidity that drives the long finish." James Suckling

"Here's a fresh and fragrant white wine to pair with Thai spring rolls or an insalata Caprese topped with garden-fresh basil. Mostly aged in steel (75%), the 2020 Alto Adige Sauvignon Sanct Valentin is a snappy, lean-bodied wine with lemon zest, green papaya and tangy kiwi fruit. There are subtle mineral notes on the close, but this youthful wine remains fundamentally fruit-forward and primary in character." Robert Parker

    • "Andrius" Sauvignon Bianco Alto Adige DOC 2019

“Andrius” Sauvignon Bianco Alto Adige DOC 2019

Sauvignon Andrius matures for six months on the yeast and is a lively, well-structured white with great varietal typicity. Ripe peaches, dried apricots, juicy honeydew melon, candied almonds, flowers and a hint of mint combine with the elegant style to create a remarkable overall picture. Great class! SUPERIORE.DE

"Bright, radiant straw yellow. In the nose of flint and fresh lemon, in the second reverberation with slightly exotic nuances, a hint of white pepper. On the palate with fine sweet melting, spreads elegantly and pleasantly over the tongue, fresh, very clear, very precise in the final." Falstaff

"A ripe and citrusy style of sauvignon blanc with great succulence and a surprisingly light touch for 14% alcohol. Plenty of subtle herbal and sweet, vegetal notes add interest on the nose and palate, the finish very harmonious." James Suckling

"Pretty nose of restrained white fruit, gooseberry and citrus, palate of white peach, nettle and a cool acidity." Decanter

"The Cantina Andriano (Kellerei Andrian) 2019 Alto Adige Sauvignon Blanc Andrius is true to the grape with lots of zesty green apple, passion fruit, crushed white stone and a focused Dolomite character that comes on strong here in this 14% alcohol edition. The wine is snappy, linear and tight with tons of energy. This is a very successful expression of Italian Sauvignon Blanc." Robert Parker

    • "DUBL ESSE" Metodo Classico VSQ s.a. Dosaggio Zero

“DUBL ESSE” Metodo Classico VSQ s.a. Dosaggio Zero

Feudi di San Gregorio's DUBL project was born in 2004 from an awareness of the great richness of the autochthonous vines of the Irpinia region and the desire to open up new horizons for them: as a Metodo Classico Spumante or by means of the famous Méthode Champenoise. An advisor was quickly found for this - none other than Anselme Selosse, who is known for his champagnes and his feeling for the particularities of the vines and vineyards.

A quarter of the base wines of this top product is aged for 6 months in oak barrels, then the cuvée matures for 3 years in the bottle on the fine lees before it is disgorged. Strong light yellow and a super-fine perlage. On the nose, light fruit, yeasty notes and nuances of fresh bread. On the palate, powerful, fresh, with a nice spiciness and a potpourri of stone fruit, fine honey notes and toasted almonds. This sparkling wine does not need any dosage at all, it is extremely dry with all its aromatic diversity and for us, with its impressive finish, it is one of the very great Spumanti in Italy. SUPERIORE.DE

"Aromas of spiced pears, quince, biscuit, salted lemons and oyster shells. It's medium-bodied with tangy acidity, medium bubbles and saline, umami character. Dry and savory." James Suckling

"Disgorged in 2016, the NV Metodo Classico Dosaggio Zero Dubl Esse sees a blend of fruit from the 2010 and 2011 vintages. All of the wine stays on the lees for three years, but only a quarter of the wine is aged in oak for six months. This is a new product from Feudi di San Gregorio with super-modern packaging and immediate appeal. The palate is fresh and zesty with endnotes of stone fruit, honey and toasted nut." Robert Parker

    • "Piodilei" Chardonnay Langhe DOC 2018

      “Piodilei” Chardonnay Langhe DOC 2018

Piodilei has been the winery's white flagship since 1985. The grapes come from the single vineyard Il Bricco, which also produces the grapes for the award-winning Barbaresco Crus. Pio's goal from the beginning has been to create a wine with this white that has the same complexity and almost the same storage potential as the great red wines of this region. Sparkling straw yellow. Complex bouquet of herbal spice, delicate butterscotch notes, flint, pear and sweet yellow fruit. Impressive freshness in the glass with a finely integrated oak spice and notes of pineapple and chestnut. A fresh, complex and serious white that has no equal in the region. SUPERIORE.DE

"The 2018 Langhe Chardonnay Piodilei supports an elaborate structure and broad shoulders. This wine underlines the creaminess in Chardonnay, it is broad and rich, with a layered bouquet that opens to peach, exotic fruit and lemon mousse. That abundant fruit is framed and brought into focus by the wine's pretty mineral contouring." Robert Parker

"A chardonnay with sliced apples, cedar and spice. Some smoked wood, too, adding to the complexity. Subtle, tight and structured. Think serious Chablis, but from Langhe!" James Suckling

“Alte Rebe” Vinschgauer Riesling Alto Adige DOC 2018

Franz and Bernadette Pratzner planted their first Riesling grapes more than 30 years ago. The small plot yields just 1,500 bottles per year. The primary rock soil, the dry warmth during the day and the cool nights provide excellent conditions for Vinschgau Riesling to thrive on a steep southern slope between 550 and 900 metres.

Brilliant golden yellow. Aromas of peach and apple combine in the bouquet with a well-dosed portion of minerality. Complex and multi-layered on the palate with yellow fruits, spices and lime. The harmonious overall picture of this exceptional wine is framed by a vibrant acidity and wonderful freshness, which will ensure a long life and further refinement in the bottle. Happy the one who can get hold of a few bottles of it! SUPERIORE.DE

    • "Vinalia" Goldmuskateller Passito Alto Adige DOC 2017

“Vinalia” Goldmuskateller Passito Alto Adige DOC 2017

Named after the ancient Roman wine festivals, the Passito Vinalia is a sweet dessert wine that goes particularly well with the South Tyrolean apple strudel. The strictly selected grapes, air-dried after the harvest, come from the sun-drenched vineyards on the slopes of Bolzano at an altitude of 300 to 400 metres above sea level. They are gently pressed about 4 months after the harvest and then fermented in used French barriques. Fermentation stops at max. 10% vol. due to the high sugar content of the mash.

Golden yellow with amber nuances, the nose is bewitched by the scent of ripe apricots, pineapples, sugar melons and peaches, in addition to candied exotic fruits. In the mouth its opulence impresses with a very refreshing and harmonious acidity. A masterpiece! SUPERIORE.DE

Deep dark and with a terrificbouquet, strongly fruity, with light spicy and vegetal hints, it tastes concentrated and soft at the same time. The brilliant final this Maremma classic is highly individual and thrilling every year. SUPERIORE.DE

"The 2016 Avvoltore, Morisfarms’ flagship blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah, is very pretty and expressive. Avvoltore is often a bigger wine, but the 2016 is decidedly laid back in demeanor. Scents of dark cherry, olive, spice, dried flowers and leather emerge over time." Vinous

“Via del Campo” Falanghina Irpinia DOC 2019

Bright straw yellow with golden reflexes. On the nose, ripe herbal aromas, tonic, sweet lemon, grapefruit and apricot. Juicy and penetrating on the palate, with a lovely floral lift and energy that leads seamlessly into the long, complex finish with a saline bite and distinct minerality. A beautiful, distinctive single-vineyard Falanghina in a class of its own. SUPERIORE.DE

    • "Terre Brune" Carignano del Sulcis Superiore DOC 2016

“Terre Brune” Carignano del Sulcis Superiore DOC 2016

Terre Brune is a 100% Carignano of seductive balance and fruitiness and every year one of the best reds of Sardinia. Aged in barriques, it shows a fresh but ripe fruit on the nose with a slight hint of cocoa. On the palate of beautiful depth, with present tannins. An exemplary wine vinified with love and full of regional typicity. SUPERIORE.DE

"Dense, sparkling ruby with a black core. Opens with fresh notes of mint, then lots of blueberry, blackberry, plus lots of liquorice. Opens on the palate with ripe fruit notes, lots of sturdy, dense tannin, gripping and tight, balsamic notes on the final." Falstaff

"This remarkable wine is made from mainly Carignano grapes grown on ungrafted bush-trained vines, and is matured in barriques for up to 18 months, plus a further year in bottle before release. The full, forward and seductive nose has aromas of blackberry and ripe plum with spicy chocolate and tobacco notes. The palate is full, ripe and round with sweet fruit and an intense spicy finish showing silky tannins." Decanter

"The 2016 Carignano del Sulcis Superiore Terre Brune is a beauty. It takes its time opening in the glass, at first wafting up with hints of blackberry, currants and smoke. Further swirling reveals a deeper display of violet pastille, giving way to black cherries, wild herbs and crushed stone. It's velvety in texture, fleshing out across the palate with a staining of rich dark fruits and minerals under an air of lavender and purple-tinged florals. A fine coating of tannin settles in, creating a youthfully structured feel, and a bitter twang of savory spice. Salted licorice lingers incredibly long. The 2016 Terre Brune is classic to the core, but it will require some cellaring to soften and come fully into focus." Vinous

"An attractive combination of dark fruit, such as blackberries with hints of vanilla, tea and bark. Tar, too. It's full-bodied and dense with layers of fruit and spices. Lovely drinkability now, but can go for a long time." James Suckling

    • "Fontalloro" Rosso Toscana IGT 2018

      “Fontalloro” Rosso Toscana IGT 2018

Shiny ruby with a light garnet edge, mineral, woody-fruity aroma of cherry, cedar, blueberry and hazelnut. With air intake, the aromas become more complex and the terroir influence very clear. Compact and very present on the palate with fine-grained tannin and classic proportions. Very high ageing potential and one of the highest-class Sangiovese of central Tuscany. SUPERIORE.DE

"Sparkling ruby with a fine garnet tongue. Appealing, multi-layered nose with notes of tobacco, plums and raspberry. Flows well-balanced and harmonious over the palate, lots of fine-meshed tannin, clearly worked out fruit, shows rich pressure again in the final, long finish." Falstaff

"Black cherry and blackberry flavors are accented by earth, rosemary and tobacco in this sleek, incisive red, which is balanced and linear, with vibrant acidity driving the long finish, where a note of iron creeps into the mix." Wine Spectator

"A tight, fresh Fontalloro with dark cherry, chocolate and toasted oak. Some walnut, too. It's full-bodied, yet polished and structured. Sort of shy. But this will develop really nicely with some bottle age." James Suckling

"The 2018 Fontalloro is bright, floral and full of energy. In most vintages, Fontalloro is quite open, but the 2018 is especially nervy and taut. That won't be an issue in time, of course, but readers should plan on being patient. Sangiovese is so expressive here. A whole range of floral and savory accents lingers on the close." Vinous

"There is plenty of dark fruit at its core, but this wine also reveals dry tones of jarred oregano, grilled Mediterranean herb, crushed aspirin and graham cracker. The mouthfeel is pleasantly lean and silky, and perhaps the wine delivers more in terms of length than it does weight or texture. A little more bottle age should help flesh out and soften these results." Robert Parker

“Löwengang” Chardonnay Vigneti delle Dolomiti IGT 2018 (BIO)

Sparkling, rich straw yellow, rich, complex aroma with a delicate, pleasantly creamy nose and the scent of vanilla, mango and fresh pineapple. Full, opulent and full of tension in the drink, yet juicy and salty, very elegant taste, accompanied by a fresh, well-bred acidity. The ideally integrated wood note and the fruity, complex body form a harmonious and impressive unity. The long finish is refined with a subtle hint of bitter almonds. SUPERIORE.DE

"Sparkling straw yellow with a hint of light gold. Smells of coconut flakes, ripe stone fruit, mango, banana and candied pineapple on the nose. Shows polished fruit on the palate, warm approach and progression, juicy, saline, lingering final." Falstaff

"Pale golden yellow. Opulent aromas and flavors of ripe yellow apple, banana, custard cream, puff pastry and vanilla. Then big, suave and ripe, with nicely lifted flavors of ripe orchard and tropical fruit complicated by very well dosed, high-quality oak. Closes long and suave. Well done." Vinous

"A stunningly elegant chardonnay with a really wide aroma spectrum, ranging from pineapple and candied-lemon to floral and fresh-nut notes. Still very young and only just beginning to open up, we recommend decanting and large glasses to get the best out of it now." James Suckling

"The organic and biodynamic Alois Lageder 2018 Chardonnay Löwengang offers a medley of ripe fruit and apricot with soft spice and toasted cinnamon. Aged mostly in barrique and some larger wooden barrel, the oak is well balanced overall, owing more to the textural richness of the mouthfeel, as well as to the warm and toasted notes that appear on the bouquet. There is plenty of soft fruit to flesh it out." Robert Parker

    • "Collezione Privata" Syrah Toscana IGT 2015

“Collezione Privata” Syrah Toscana IGT 2015

Great Syrah with extraordinary complex aromas like cassis, praline, exotic spices, black tea and clove. On the palate very dense, cleanly structured, delicious after ripe black fruits and with earthy notes. Velvety tannins and a long harmonious impression form the impressive finale. SUPERIORE.DE

"Syrah loves a warm vintage, and that's exactly what it gets here. The 2015 Syrah Collezione Privata is a full and generous expression that opens to dark fruit aromas backed by bitter chocolate, spice and smoked bacon. You can identify that Tuscan signature here, thanks to the chalky mineral notes that give this wine so much definition and focus. You do feel some ripeness here with jammy fruit favors followed by sweet tobacco and tar. The wine is rich and succulent in terms of mouthfeel. Some 5,000 wines were produced." Robert Parker

"A very animated syrah that opens with notes of crushed stones, soaked blueberries, fresh herbs, licorice, charcoal and citrus. Full-bodied and intense, but the freshness is undeniable as firm tannins intermingle with vibrant acidity. Primary fruit is quite predominant now, so give this time." James Suckling

"The 2015 Syrah is a total stunner. Bright, polished and impeccably nuanced, the 2015 is all class. Here, too, the purity of the flavors is simply remarkable. Today, the 2015 is quite primary and in need of at least several years in bottle to be at its very best, and yet all the ingredients are there for that to happen. A touch of whole clusters and drops of Viognier add an attractive floral upper register. Stated simply, the Syrah is a wine of precision and class. Only Paolo De Marchi can make Syrah of this level in Tuscany." Antonio Galloni

    • "Fontalloro" Rosso Toscana IGT 2017

      “Fontalloro” Rosso Toscana IGT 2017

Shiny ruby with a slight garnet edge, mineral, woody-fruity scent of cherry, cedar, blueberry and hazelnut. With aeration the aromas become more and more complex and the terroir influence very clear. Compact and very present on the palate with fine-grained tannin and classic proportions. Very high ageing potential and one of the highest quality Sangiovese of central Tuscany. SUPERIORE.DE

"Shining ruby grenade. Opens with subtle earthy notes of tobacco, pomegranate, cherry and some strawberry. Surprisingly juicy on the palate, shows well worked out fruit, pithy, gripping tannin, well integrated, salty and with good tension. Falstaff

"In the commune of Castelnuovo Berardenga, the Fèlsina property spills over the Chianti Classico border into Chianti Colli Senesi. Fontalloro is a blend of vineyards from both sides. Artfully tousled, it captures Sangiovese's untamed side. Sunbaked herbs and irony earth permeate exuberant wild berries. There is plenty to chew on without being heavy and while tannins are a bit gritty, this has a ton of personality." Decanter

"The flavors of cherry, strawberry and rose are pure, with a backbone of acidity and dense tannins for support. Iron and wild herb accents add depth as this red lingers, showing smoke and spice notes. Features a sense of urgency, driven by vivid acidity. The finish evokes energy. Best from 2022 through 2038." Wine Spectator

"I like the clarity and linear quality to this with ripe-cherry and bark flavors. It’s full-bodied, though not heavy and ponderous. Racy and bright at the end." James Suckling

"The Fèlsina 2017 Fontalloro pours out of the bottle with a bang. This pure expression of Sangiovese is luscious and dark with thick layers of dark fruit, plum, cherry, leather and tilled earth. This hot-vintage edition shows good depth and intensity with lots of that black-fruit energy and extra concentration that is typical of this growing season. However, you can always count on Fontalloro to show balance, and that's exactly what you get here despite the adversity of the scorching summer season. That Sangiovese acidity remains intact and crisp." Robert Parker

"Fontalloro is exquisite in 2017. It is also such a contrast to the Rancia, as the two wines could not possibly be more different. Fontalloro is bright and vibrant, with more sweet red Sangiovese character than the darker Rancia. It is also incredibly delicious now, even though it clearly has the energy to age for many years. The 2017 is one of the finest Fontalloros I can remember tasting." Vinous

“W.... Dreams ..." Bianco Venezia Giulia IGT 2018

"W.... Dreams ... ......" has stood for "Where Dreams can happen" since the 2003 vintage and originates from "Where the Dreams have no end", which was first vinified with the 1987 harvest. The vintages '96 to '02 came along as "Were Dreams now it's just Wine". Here now is the 2018 vintage with the planet Mars on the capsule and the seven colours of the rainbow ... everyone should dream about this unique drop in their own way. SUPERIORE.DE

"There's a rich, toasty edge to this vibrant, medium-bodied white, enmeshed with flavors of ripe Jonagold apple and melon fruit. There's good drive, with a salty mineral undertow and accents of ground ginger, chopped hazelnut and orchard blossom rippling on the finish." Wine Spectator

"This is always a very complex and complete white with cooked apples, pears, light lemon curd and vanilla. Hints of minerals. It's full-bodied with a round, delicious palate. Beautiful, ripe fruit and length. Drinkable now, but better in 2022 and onwards." James Suckling

      “Montiano” Merlot Lazio IGP 2017

Intense, seductive aroma of sweet spices, tobacco, dark cherries and wild berries. In addition, the perfectly corresponding taste of enormous elegance, fruit richness, complexity, structure and length. A wonderful, dreamlike wine. SUPERIORE.DE

"Dark shining ruby red. Complex and clear nose, finely marked by noble woods, blackberries, blackcurrants, some liquorice and leather. Shows great melting fruit core on the palate, elegant and tightly woven tannin accompanies the course, with pressure and finesse, long final." Falstaff

"A sleek, harmonious red, medium- to full-bodied, with fine-grained tannins enmeshed with flavors of cassis and black cherry fruit, apple wood smoke and bay leaf. The firm finish is well-spiced and lingering." Wine Spectator

"Amazingly fresh and minty, dusty even, the 2017 Merlot Montiano wafts up with hints of candied citrus, wild berries and sage. It's rich, succulent and round, with ripe red and blue berries, minerals and inner animal muskiness. This shows the warmth and dry conditions of the year, yet with refinement. The 2017 finishes with a saturation of primary fruits and spices offset by hints of tangerine and lifting inner florals, while remaining surprisingly mouthwatering, so lively and fresh. Such balance mixed with power and structure makes this an atypical expression of the vintage, and one worth checking out." Vinous

"So much going on here with overtures of blackberries, dark cherries and finer, spicier notes of saffron, paprika and dried cloves. Excellent composure for a vintage such as 2017. The resoluteness of the tannins tames the wild dark fruit here, giving a clear indication of ripeness, but also structure and finesse." James Suckling

"The Cotarella Montiano project is a fluid, ever-changing program that adds focus and intensity with each successive vintage. The Falesco Famiglia Cotarella 2017 Montiano (a celebrated expression of Merlot) is vibrant and spicy with immediate vertical lift and dark fruit intensity. Grapes are sourced from two sites, one with clay soils and one with volcanic soils, so you get textural structure and aromatic lift in this clever blend. Grapes are hand selected, berry by berry, on the sorting table. The wine is redolent of dark fruit and blackberry with a hint of bright mint on the close. To summarize, this is a terrific bottle." • "Cor Römigberg" Cabernet Sauvignon Alto Adige DOC 2016 (BIO)

“Cor Römigberg” Cabernet Sauvignon Alto Adige DOC 2016 (BIO)

Cherry-red Cabernet Sauvignon with a small amount of Petit Verdot, the complex bouquet is reminiscent of blackcurrants; in addition, there are mint aromas and floral notes that are interwoven with the pleasantly balanced wood note. Powerful and dense on the palate; the fine tannins are harmoniously integrated. SUPERIORE.DE

"One of the cult reds of South Tyrol. This Cabernet Sauvignon comes from an impressive single vineyard with steep terraces. While in the past it was sometimes rather powerful and broad-shouldered, this 2016 shows itself more elegant and with lots of fresh fruit. Precisely framed bouquet with blackcurrants, dark cherries as well as graphite, mint and tobacco notes. Some floral notes also resonate. In the mouth, beautifully compact and densely woven with an earthy-spicy line, the gripping tannin is finer than before, the wonderfully juicy-tart Cabernet fruit then comes to the fore again in the spicy-substantial final." Weinwisser

"Rich, deep dark ruby with a black core. Opens with notes of cabbage florets, lots of tobacco, some beetroot, lots of cassis. Substantial and dense tannin, builds well, dark berry fruit and refreshing mint on the final." Falstaff

"Here's a sharp, tight and mid-weight expression of Cabernet Sauvignon. From the far north of Italy, the Alois Lageder 2016 Alto Adige Cabernet Sauvignon Cor Römigberg is an extremely elegant and silky expression of a grape that is often pushed to more dramatic and concentrated effect. Not here. The Cor Römigberg focuses on elegance and balance instead, with dark fruit, blackberry, mountain herbs and blue flowers. There are light touches of crushed limestone and spice as well." Robert Parker

"Inky ruby. Very big aromas and flavors of dark berries are nicely complicated by graphite, coffee reduction, minerals and tar. Not at all marred by green or overripe notes, this very refined Cab boasts a serious, austere personality with plenty of fruit lurking in the background. Will likely improve with a couple more years in the cellar. Day after day, the 2016 vintage is proving it was a stellar one for the region's reds." Vinous

"Really gorgeous cabernet character on the nose with sweet tobacco, sage, tree bark and black truffles to the currants and red fruit. Full-bodied with tight fruit, chewy tannins and walnut and steely undertones that suggest minerals and slate." James Suckling

"This important wine was already reviewed last year, so this is a revisit. The Alois Lageder 2016 Alto Adige Cabernet Sauvignon Cor Römigberg is a certified organic and biodynamic wine that opens to an inky dark appearance with lingering tones of spice, baked clay and pencil shavings. Those mineral tones frame a core of dark blackberry and rosemary essence. The wine reveals a generous, medium-bodied effort and neatly integrated tannins that add structure but are soft. I know that this estate has been sensitive to bottle glass weight in the years after this bottling." Robert Parker
