    • Chardonnay Toscana IGT 2015

      Chardonnay Toscana IGT 2015

Bright golden colour, explosive bouquet of quince, honey, wax, granite, blood orange, vanilla, white chocolate and straw. On the palate, initial notes of roasted cashew and almond, followed by fruits such as white peach, pear and citrus fruits. Exciting and very multifaceted. SUPERIORE.DE

"This shows sugar-coated apples, vanilla, spices, lemon curd, dried pineapples, caramelized papaya, cream and pie crust. Full body, medium acidity and layers of fleshy tropical and stone fruit. Finishes long and creamy." James Suckling

"Expansive, ripe and richly textured, the Monteverro 2015 Chardonnay is a full-bodied white that doles out generous and opulent fruit. The wine is creamy, fibrous and succulent with a long range of apricot, tropical fruit, toasted almond and delicate vanilla-like aromas. Half of the assembled blend is aged in French barrique for 14 months and the other half goes into cement eggs. The results are bright, tonic and clear, but the wine maintains that deep inner sense of sunshine and concentration that is characteristic of this warm vintage." Robert Parker

Fresh rose sugar and graphite on the palate, with hints of raspberry, cherry, fresh plum and cranberry. Long in the finish with a hunch of Cassis. SUPERIORE.DE

"Rich, deep, dark ruby violet. In the nose attractive notes of tobacco and graphite, then opens with plums, in the background of dark pepper, spicy. On the palate it shows a lot of fine-meshed tannin, substance, spans a wide bow, very clear and precise, in the finale long reverberation." Falstaff

"This Rhône-inspired Italian blend sees Syrah and Grenache from the Southern side of Coastal Tuscany. The 2013 Tinata is a lovely wine with bright berry fruit that is expressed with vigor and intensity. This wine is especially opulent and full-bodied. Soft layers of black fruit are backed by exotic spice and cured meat. The finish is richly textured and generous with soft tannins." Robert Parker

"Rich purple. Intense bouquet, showing a lot of classic Rhône components in the nose – between cornas and gigondas, iron blood tones and wild cherries. Thick palate, black peppercorns, crumbly, concentrated extract. He still has a lot of future, but will remain rather masculine because of his brute strength." Weinwisser

"Dark violet color. Aromas of roasted beets, citrus rind and dusty chocolate. Hot stone. Violets. A generous red with lots of fruit. Nicely crafted. Full-bodied." James Suckling

"Dark purple red color with violet hue and black centre. Very opulent character, ripe berry fruit, blackberries and mulberries. Ripe plums, black cherries in the background. Aromatic spices add to the wine's complexity. On the palate opulent with great depth and weight, excellent length, powerful but still with a hint of freshness in the finish. A great wine." Markus del Monego

"Bright and fluid, with black currant, blackberry, vanilla and toast aromas and flavors. Almost racy, showing terrific balance and well-integrated tannins underneath. Features a fine, toasty finish. Syrah and Grenache." Wine Spectator

      “Monteverro” Toscana IGT 2014

Monteverro - a classic French blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot - is full of opulence and variety. Incredibly rich in aromas of dark fruits, chocolate and spices, softer, full-bodied, polished tannins. The magnificence of this wine cannot be exaggerated. A masterpiece by Michel Rolland. SUPERIORE.DE

"Powerful, luminous ruby with violet shimmer. Compact nose, full-bodied notes of dark currant and blackberry, underlined by notes of rosemary and myrtle, clear and pithy. On the palate powerful and substantial, shows a lot of dark berry fruit, blackberries, elderberries, opens with rich tannin in many layers, very compact, long finish with notes of tobacco, much potential." Falstaff

"Most of the wine (80%) is aged in new French oak for 24 months. Grapes are harvested from clay soil sites and each parcel is vinified separately. This is a beautifully crafted and intense red wine that delivers power, complexity and elegant extraction. Dark fruit folds into spice, leather and tobacco. The palate is slightly thinner and more streamlined in this vintage." Robert Parker

"This is extremely structured and powerful for the vintage with blackcurrant, sweet tobacco and black fruit character. Full body, chewy yet polished tannins and a long and flavorful finish. Needs time to soften a little." James Suckling

"Rich, dark ruby with a black core. A pleasant blend, with notes of macchia herbs, thyme, rosemary and curry, then rich blackberry and dark currant, some chocolate. Builts up on the palate like a peacock, much fine-meshed, dense tannin with firm core, dark berry fruit, fills the palate full, sweet enamel, still looks very young." Falstaff

"The 2015 Monteverro comes out with gangbuster intensity and richness, keeping the wine very much in line with our expectations of this profound and exuberant vintage. This wine is lavishly layered with dark fruit, dried cherry, tar, smoke and exotic spice. Those aromas just jump right out at you, never letting up in intensity or complexity." Robert Parker

"Wow. The nose here is alive with oyster shell, iodine, crushed stones, lavender, freshly picked blackcurrants, licorice and dried sage and thyme. Full-bodied and very deeply flavored, but the tannins are beautifully polished and dialed-in. The juxtaposition between sweet and sour flavors and umami nuances is enough to take anyone’s breath away. Delicious now, but better in 2024." James Suckling

    Monteverro

With his Tenuta Monteverro, situated below the medieval town of Capalbio in the province of Grosseto, the successful German entrepreneur Georg Weber has courageously gained access to the society of the Tuscan wine aristocracy on the last hill before the Tyrrhenian Sea. Previously, the pedantic landowner had spent several years searching for his vineyard paradise between Napa Valley, Bordeaux and Australia with no result. In front of the entrance door of the winery in the Maremma stands a cast-iron wild boar, which also gave it its name: Monteverro means Eberberg.

Before he bought a total of 50 hectares of land in 2003 to cultivate particularly high-quality plants with an international team without the slightest compromise, the wine enthusiast and studied business economist Weber commissioned elaborate soil samples. The investigations revealed that red earth was hidden under the ears of grain, which had a high proportion of limestone, clay and iron. In 2006, work began on the construction of the estate building and the functionally equipped cellar built into a hill. Apart from the white variety Vermentino, French varieties, mainly from the Bordelais, thrive in Tenuta Monteverro in a south-southwest orientation. The distances between the vine rows were determined with laser beams. A drainage system installed in the vineyards allows excess water to drain off. The light sea breeze, cool nights and sunny days create the best climatic conditions for a good growth of the vines.

In order to produce unique and authentic wines, Weber trusts the advice of renowned French experts: the soil specialists Claude and Lydia Bourguignon as well as the world-famous wine consultant Michel Rolland. Only hand-picked fruits of the highest quality are processed very gently in the cellar. The details of winemaking make the heart of every winegrower beat faster. In a cooling tunnel, the grapes are cooled down to seven degrees. No pumps are used, only gravity is used to produce silky tannins. In the barrique cellar, the temperature under the wooden barrels can be increased by underfloor heating if malolactic fermentation is interrupted.

The estate's showpiece is Monteverro, a wine of unmistakable character, made from grapes from the best vineyards and produced only in very small quantities. Georg Weber proudly describes the cuvée made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot as "Premier Grand Cru of Tuscany". SUPERIORE.DE

"Wine critics are often asked where to find the ideal winery. Committed to reality and objectivity, the answer usually remains objective. But if you could swarm, it could be: Monteverro in Tuscany is almost perfect."Falstaff
