Terra di Monteverro is the estate's elegantly crafted second wine, yet in terms of character, authenticity and depth, it is far more than that. It comes from the stony, coastal slopes near Capalbio in the southern Maremma – a region characterised in 2021 by a long, warm summer with moderate highs and cool nights in September. This climatic balance allowed the Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot grape varieties to ripen perfectly; they were harvested and vinified plot by plot.

In the glass, the 2021 vintage displays a deep ruby colour with a violet rim. The nose is clear and complex: ripe blackcurrants, blackberries, liquorice, mocha and a subtle hint of Mediterranean herbs. On the palate, it is powerful yet refined – with juicy fruit, elegant acidity and perfectly integrated tannins. The finish is long, precise and underpinned by mineral freshness. Terra combines the warmth of the Maremma with the rigorous finesse of a classic Bordeaux style – a wine of remarkable depth, with a distinct character and great sophistication. SUPERIORE.DE

"As I have often written, I consider the Terre di Monteverro to be excellent value for money, as it offers a complex yet somewhat more approachable drinking experience of a high standard. A top second wine. It is released four years after the harvest. It spends 18 months in barriques – 50% new, around 45% used – with the remainder in a concrete egg. A radiant bouquet with red and blue berry fruits, subtle smoky and tobacco notes, fresh plum and spicy hints. On the palate, it is once again incredibly juicy and polished, yet quite tightly structured with a creamy tannin texture; it is slightly more blueberry-like than the Grand Vin and, at the moment, even a little more floral.
