“Argentiera” Bolgheri Superiore DOC 2018
A full-bodied, noble cuvée from the vineyard of the same name: aromas of red fruits, a light hint of roasted coffee, juniper, pepper and animal notes, an excellent tannin structure and a beautiful acidity give this "Bordeaux from Bolgheri" its exceptional independence and great elegance. SUPERIORE.DE
"Perky nose of black cherries, leather and tobacco; sturdy construction with powerful, tightly woven tannins, lots of juice and melting into the final. Convinces with its balanced make." Vinum
"Dense powerful bouquet with ripe dark berry fruit and wonderfully ripe cassis as well as ripe red berries, sour cherries, but black cherries offer an interesting mix together with the notes reminiscent of iron and Mediterranean herbs. In addition, a skilful, noble use of wood. Extremely juicy in the mouth, elegant concentration, wonderfully mature tannins. Finest acid wireadd elegance and distinction. Very fine round long finish with balsamic notes." Weinwisser
"Shiny, rich ruby with a fine garnet shimmer. Very appealing and multi-layered nose, of ripe dark berries, in addition fine Havana cigar and the corresponding box, behind it a lot of cassis. Full pressure in the attack and course, builds up in many layers, juicy fruit, also shows very good drinking flow, very long finish." Falstaff
"Crimson and perfumed with notes of milk chocolate, cassis and wild herbs - such as eucalyptus leaf - this Argentiera is broad and supple. The attack is firm and intense with cassis fragrance yet extracted on the mid-palate. Graphite minerality emerges sustained by crisp acidity. This vintage confirms the new, improved style of this wine is able to perform quite well even in less concentrated vintages." Decanter
"Aromas of plums and berries with some chocolate and vanilla undertones. Full-bodied and layered with soft tannins that are bright at the end. Currants and blackberries. Currant bush, too. Love the tannin texture to this." James Suckling

“Villa Donoratico” Rosso Bolgheri DOC 2019 · MAGNUM in Gift Box
With the 2019 vintage, the first harvest of the once again qualitatively upgraded Villa Donoratico comes onto the market. Like the Bolgheri Superiore, the grapes now come from the very best vineyards of the estate. Immediately after the hand harvest, they are strictly selected at 2 sorting tables by 12 employees and the maturation in 500l Tonneaux ensures even more elegance and finesse. The qualitative gap to Argentiera, the winery's flagship, has thus been noticeably reduced and the wine will set standards in the entire Bolgheri DOC.
Rich, dark sparkling ruby. Fine, subtle nose of redcurrant and herbal spice, some rosewood and fresh forest floor. Very complex and multi-layered on the palate, revealing more facets with every sip, the well-articulated fruit core is flanked by a fine-meshed tannin and leads into a very elegant, long finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Deep dark impenetrable garnet red. Opens on black cherries, cranberry, and poppy seeds, with walnut and iron behind. Draws up juicily, with lively acidity, showing fine ripe tannin, full-bodied texture, comes back on ripe berry fruit at the end and lasts extremely long." Falstaff
"A pretty nose of redcurrants, pomegranate, lemons, fresh lavender and clay. It's medium-bodied with chewy tannins and bright acidity. Vibrant and crunchy with juicy character. Flavorful, textured finish." James Suckling

“Ventaglio” Rosso Toscana IGT 2015 · 0,75l in OWC
"In making a great wine, the primary goal is to emphasise, perfect and seal in a bottle all the extraordinary characteristics of the territory: from the different soils to the microclimate, from the vibrant power of the Mediterranean maquis to the fresh sea breeze." Stanislaus Turnauer (winery owner)
Actually, the single vineyard of just 1 hectare is unique, as it only comprises a small hilltop in the shape of a fan (Italian: ventaglio). The grapes from here have always been at the top of the winery's production and so it was decided to vinify them separately from the 2015 vintage onwards - and the new top wine "Ventaglio" was born.
Due to the curious location and geographical orientation of the vineyard in all directions, there are morning grapes, midday grapes and evening grapes here and they represent the respective site-specific microclimate in an impressive way. Likewise, through the subsequent joint processing, they give their differences in aromatic development, maturity and freshness as a total work of art in this exceptional wine, in which every nuance of the terroir, no matter how small, is expressed correctly and in a balanced manner.
Complex and with a noble body, balanced by an undeniable elegance, Ventaglio appears as the overall expression of Cabernet Franc, which grows particularly well in the Bolgheri area. This first site wine of the Tenuta, symbol of decades of experience in single-varietal winemaking, is vinified only in special vintages in an extremely limited number of bottles. SUPERIORE.DE
"Very dense ruby with violet glints. Opens with emphatic spicy notes of cedar and juniper, some tar and liquorice, then lots of dark berry fruit. Very powerful on the palate, opens with dense tannin in many layers, very polished on the final, lots of dark berry fruit in the finish." Falstaff
"This is the inaugural vintage of Tenuta Argentiera's newest monovarietal wine, a Cabernet from a stunning vineyard that is shaped like a fan ("ventaglio" in Italian) positioned around a solitary oak tree that stands tall against a stunning view of blue seas and umbrella trees. The 2015 Ventaglio embraces that wide panorama with a span of aromas and black fruit flavors. Blackberry and plum cede to smoke, campfire ash, crushed mineral and wet river stone. Those delicate earthy tones add pretty framing to the opulent darkness found inside." Robert Parker
"An absolutely beautiful red with crushed-blackberry, mushroom, fresh-herb and chocolate character. It’s full-bodied, balanced and creamy with super polished and ripe tannins and a fantastic finish of beautiful fruit. Love the precision and focus. 85% cabernet franc and 15% cabernet sauvignon. Already beautiful, yet will be fantastic in four or five years." James Suckling

"This red has a lot going on, featuring intense, saturated flavors of black cherry, plum, fig, wild rosemary and iron, with a vibrant, dense structure. Balanced, with a long, resonant finish." Wine Spectator
"A beautiful, complex red with blackcurrants, sage, rosemary and sweet tobacco. Red tile, too. Full-bodied, very linear and fine-grained with great intensity and power. Such purity and length. This 100% cabernet franc is made from only one hectare, producing 3,000 bottles. Needs another three to four years to open and definitely one for the cellar." James Suckling
"This is a new wine from Tenuta Argentiera, an estate that is positioning itself well to become an icon on the Tuscan Coast. The 2016 Ventaglio is a headline expression of Cabernet Franc from a vineyard that I have been lucky enough to visit. It is lovely to see this spot with rows of vines that fan out (hence the name Ventaglio, or "fan" in Italian) from a sole oak tree that is perfectly framed between the cobalt Tyrrhenian Sea and the blue sky above. If there is a heaven where grapevines live, the Ventaglio vineyard may just be it. This vintage is super chiseled and sharp with generous and abundant black fruit that is tightly framed by spice, tobacco, dried herb and a touch of bitter chocolate and dusty mineral. There is some phenolic tartness that points to the wine's youth and bodes well for its future aging. The finish is layered, deep and rich." Robert Parker

Of all the wineries in the Bolgheri DOC, Tenuta Argentiera, located on a small plateau in the extreme south and surrounded by a varied natural environment, is the closest to the sea. From the top of the vineyards you have a wonderful view over Baratti in the south to Castiglioncello in the north, complemented by the panorama of the archipelago of Elba, Gorgona, Capraia with Corsica in the background. In Etruscan times, the plateau of the estate was home to natural springs and silver mines - hence the name Argentiera (Italian: Argento/Silver). Formerly owned by the influential Florentine noble family Serristorti and part of the ancient Donoratico estate, the winery, located between Livorno and Grosseto, is now a reference point for the Tuscan cultivation zone.
With plants of extraordinary elegance and great suppleness, the still very young winery has acquired its reputation as one of the most prestigious addresses in the Bolgheri region within just a few years. The fact that the first bottling in the Tenuta Argentiera was already a great success is thanks to Piero Antinori, a famous partner who brought all his experience to the new project and who is jointly responsible for the quality of the wines improving year after year. The 80 hectares of vineyards are almost ideally located and some of the most beautiful in the area. They are by far the highest cultivated areas in the Bolgheri DOC. Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Syrah thrive on the mostly clayey soils with considerable amounts of gravel. Since 2016, Stanislaus Turnauer, the owner of Tenuta Argentiera, has been responsible for the fate of the winery.
The grapes, selected by hand, are processed with the greatest care in the magnificent and generously designed winery. More than a thousand barrique barrels made of French oak wood are stored in the rooms intended for the maturation of the plants. The wines of the house are the logical consequence of the very high-quality berries and their unerring interpretation. Very often the prestige wine Bolgheri Superiore Argentiera, made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and a small amount of Cabernet Franc, is highly appreciated by the critics' guild. A few years ago, two immaculate single vineyard wines - Giorgio Bartholomäus (Merlot) and Ophelia Maria, made from Cabernet Sauvignon, joined this top-quality plant. The youngest offspring of the noble bottle family is the pure Cabernet Franc Lavinia Maria, which convinced the critics from a standing start. SUPERIORE.DE
"In 2002 the first Argentiera was produced, an elegant cuvée of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and a little Cabernet Franc - a vertical starter."Falstaff
