• "Paesaggio Inatteso" Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2012

“Paesaggio Inatteso” Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2012

The new and very elegant selection Paesaggio Inatteso comes from Camigliano's 3.5 ha vineyard "La Magia", which has mineral and calcareous soils. Due to the outstanding grape quality in 2012, the winery decided to vinify it separately. Only 6,600 bottles of this debut vintage were filled. The result is an intense and very pleasant scent of liquorice and dark berries, full-bodied on the palate with clear fruit, silky tannins and a fine mineral undertone in the long finish. SUPERIORE.DE

"Complex aromas of dried flowers and walnuts follow through to a medium to full body, a solid core of fruit, ripe tannins and a long, flavorful finish." James Suckling

"This is a new entry wine from the historic Camigliano estate. The 2012 Brunello di Montalcino Paesaggio Inatteso offers a more robust style and more impactful aromatic intensity. The bouquet grabs you by the nose, so to speak. This seems to be a super charged version of the Brunello annata with a more luscious and enriched personality. I feel as if Paesaggio Inatteso ("unexpected scenery" in Italian) is crafted as a means of offering consumers a more approachable wine that can be consumed in the near term at their favorite restaurant." Robert Parker

"This is opulent, sporting cherry, raspberry, spice and tobacco flavors. Features a coarse weave of tannins, but the elements hang together nicely, picking up graphite and earth accents on the lingering aftertaste." Wine Spectator

"Bright red with an amber rim. Delicate, perfumed nose of sweet spices, violet and sour red cherries. Fresh and lively, with smooth tannins. The fine-grained, long finish features red berry and floral reminders." Ian d’Agata (vinous.com)

    • Brunello di Montalcino "Gualto" Riserva DOCG 2007

Brunello di Montalcino “Gualto” Riserva DOCG 2007

The top-quality Gualto from Castello di Camigliano shines with its balsamic notes through its barrique maturity, but without suppressing the wonderfully fruity parts. Powerful and balanced the rich taste until the long finish. SUPERIORE.DE

"Enticing aromas of red cherry, raspberry, vanilla, flint and ink. Enter the mouth dense and suave, showing very deep flavors of red cherry, minerals and aromatic herbs, nicely supported by smooth tannins that turn peppery at the back. A very succesfull Brunello that avoids the alcoholic warmth of many others 2007 Brunellos; this is by far the best young Gualto Brunello I can recall tasting." Stephen Tanzer Ian d’Agata (vinous.com)

"Camigliano's Brunellos are always distinctive thanks to the estate's positioning on the lower slopes of the Montalcino denomination in a location prized for grape-growing since ancient times. The beautiful 2007 riserva shows dark chocolate, bright cherry and leather. The oak influences still need time to settle down." Wine Enthusiast

"Rich, with pretty red fruit flavors accented by spice and floral elements. Though elegant, there's ample structure and well-proportioned tannins in this complex and vibrant red, which ends with a flourish of mineral." Wine Spectator

    • Brunello di Montalcino "Gualto" Riserva DOCG 2010

Brunello di Montalcino “Gualto” Riserva DOCG 2010

Camigliano's spectacular Riserva Gualto from the peak year 2010 reveals with wonderful clarity and freshness aromas of cherry, fresh flowers, minerals, spices, tar and oak wood. Consistently modern style, already very pleasant to drink today, finely polished tannin, long. SUPERIORE.DE

"Camigliano's 2010 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Gualto is a dark, saturated and compact wine that shows a very unique interpretation of the Sangiovese grape. Camigliano occupies one of the best microclimates for dark, velvety and opulent Brunello that does very nicely in a classic vintage like 2010 with a slower overall growth cycle. The plump fruit stands up nicely to the firm tannins and acidity of the mouthfeel. In all, this is a balanced wine with softness and extra richness." Robert Parker

"This shows fabulous length and structure with complexity andintensity that is stunning. Aromas and flavors of dried mushrooms, darkberries, dried meat, mahogany and plums. A full-bodied red that goes onfor minutes. Best ever from Camigliano!" James Suckling

"A fluid, expressive style, full of cherry, plum, truffle, eucalyptus, and tobacco flavors. Fine balance and a lively structure keep this focused and long on the finish. Decant now, or cellar another year or two." Wine Spectator

    About the winemakers
    Camigliano
    Tuscany | Montalcino
    Camigliano

For more than five decades, the Ghezzi family has been producing very good quality wines at the Camigliano winery. This is no surprise, as the Milan-born founder Walter Ghezzi had always had a passion for agriculture. In the meantime, his son Gualtiero and his wife Laura have helped the winery located in the southwest of the hamlet of Camigliano near Montalcino to flourish with great personal commitment and considerable investment. Both are also busy reviving the historical settlement and ensuring its continued existence.

The Ghezzi family has built a new large underground cellar that blends unobtrusively into the beautiful landscape of Montalcino and makes work much easier thanks to modern technology. The classic wines mature mostly in barrels with volumes of 50 and 60 hectolitres. The Brunello vineyards, which cover about 50 hectares of the total 90 hectares of vineyards planted with Sangiovese Grosso, were renewed after the turn of the millennium, which has significantly improved the quality of the wines. The owners prefer a high stock density per hectare. A cloning and mass selection from old vineyards should give the drops produced in the estate a further boost in quality. The noble plants of Camigliano thrive on clay and silt soils, which contain a fairly high proportion of marl and fossil layers. The yields are deliberately kept low at less than 40 hectolitres per hectare.

The Brunello di Montalcino and the Brunello Riserva "Gualto" are repeatedly awarded high prizes by wine critics along with a number of other grape juices. The grappa distilled from Brunello pomace can also please very well. The farm, which has its own agriturismo, also has 25 hectares of olive groves. The extra virgin olive oil D.O.P. Terre di Siena is obtained from the fruits. SUPERIORE.DE

"Our compliments to the Ghezzi family, who firmly believed in the potential of this area, and to the oenologist Lorenzo Landi, who has skilfully realised this potential and created such personality wines."Gambero Rosso
