One of South Tyrol's great wine stories begins under the mighty lime tree that has given the historic estate its name for centuries. The Lindenburg in Bozen-Dorf, the family seat of the Lageders for three generations, towers majestically over the broodingalluvial soils of the Talfer – a location that connoisseurs praise as one of the two best for Lagrein in the whole of South Tyrol. Here, where millions of years of geological history have formed a unique valley basin, wines of legendary expressiveness are created.

Lagrein has been known in these latitudes for over 600 years, but it was only in the 1950s that the Lageder family recognised the true potential of this site. When renewing the vineyards, they deliberately preserved the traditional pergola cultivation – a visionary decision that would prove to be the key to the uniqueness of the Lindenburg. This historic vine training protects the thin-skinned grapes from the intense sunlight of Bolzano, one of the hottest cities in Italy in summer, and gives the wine the characteristic elegance that distinguishes it from other Lagreins. Organic cultivation follows the natural rhythms of this privileged location. After rigorous selection, the grapes ferment spontaneously, sometimes with whole bunches, for a fortnight in stainless steel tanks. The subsequent ageing in large wooden barrels for several months, followed by one year of bottle ageing, creates a Lagrein of exceptional complexity.

Deep ruby in colour with a violet core, the bouquet reveals a fascinating symphony of ripe plums, cherries and blackberries, interwoven with notes of dark chocolate, leather and fine graphite. On the palate, the Lindenburg is structured and supple at the same time – strong in substance, yet with an elegance that only true terroir wines possess.
