• Barolo "Falletto Vigna Le Rocche" Riserva DOCG 2012

Barolo “Falletto Vigna Le Rocche” Riserva DOCG 2012

Giacosas Barolo Le Rocche is vinified only in the best vintages as Riserva (red label) and has an almost magical attraction to Nebbiolo lovers all over the world.

The 2012 vintage, which has just been released, is once again a 360°-beauty with impressive intensity and complexity. This wine never appears heavy or flat, but with its indescribable elegance it once again creates the benchmark in Piedmontese viticulture. His energy carries him into spheres that are unparalleled. A cornucopia of rose petals, exotic spices, truffles and undergrowth leaves a unique fingerprint even before the almost endless finish, as only Giacosa's Riserva can do. SUPERIORE.DE

"The 2012 Barolo Riserva Falletto Vigna Le Rocche (red label) was bottled last September and has already eased into a comfortable and promising stage in its very early evolution. Fruit selection was extreme in 2012. This is a warm vintage expression, and the wine is beautifully rich and velvety as a result. That textural richness is what stands out most. The primary fruit is bold and very well defined. There is a point of dark cherry ripeness, but it adds to the generous fiber and softness of the mouthfeel. Of the many beautiful vintages I have tasted of this wine, I suspect the 2012 might be faster in its evolution." Robert Parker

"A rich and decadent Barolo with dark berry, meat and hints of chocolate and spice. Full body, layered and dense with some leather and walnut underlying the ripe fruit." James Suckling

"Piercing scents of truffle, rose water, macerated cherry and medicinal herbs are the hallmarks of this elegant red. Less evolved and harmonious on the palate, with a core of sweet fruit and tightly wound, dense tannins. Stays fresh and long on the extended finish." Wine Spectator

Rabaja and Asili are probably the most famous sites in Barbaresco. Medium, finely fragrant nose of rose petals, cherries and blue flowers, plus restrained ethereal herbal notes. On the palate powerful, compact and with a well-proportioned cornucopia of black fruits such as blackberry and cassis, plus some liquorice. Barolo “Falletto Vigna Le Rocche” Riserva DOCG 2014

Giacosa's Barolo Le Rocche is only vinified in the best vintages as Riserva (red label) and has a magical attraction for Nebbiolo lovers all over the world.

The vintage 2014, which has just been released, is once again a 360° beauty with impressive intensity and complexity. This wine never seems heavy or flat, but with its indescribable elegance it once again sets the benchmark in Piedmontese viticulture. Its energy carries it into spheres that have no equal. A cornucopia of rose petals, exotic spices, truffles and undergrowth leaves a unique fingerprint even before the almost endless finish, as only Giacosa's Riserva can do. SUPERIORE.DE

"Giacosa's Riservas are among the most prized wines in Piedmont, and even in this difficult vintage the property made an outstanding wine from this vineyard in Serralunga. As always, the nose is incredibly perfumed, showing ripe raspberry fruit but also violets. The purity and poise are remarkable. There's a fine attack, ample concentration of course, and polished tannins balanced by fine acidity. It's taut and refined yet has remarkable volume for 2014 and excellent length." Decanter

"This is lean, taut and expressive, with rose, cherry, white pepper and mint flavors allied to the steely structure. Leaves a chalky impression on the long finish." Wine Spectator

"This red label Riserva was made in 2012 and 2014 and will be released in 2016 and 2017. Bruna Giacosa and her team skipped over 2013 and 2015. However, the current release is the 2014 Barolo Riserva Falletto Vigna Le Rocche, and well, there's a lot to take in. Simply put, this is a beautiful wine that unfolds slowly with amazing intensity and complexity, delivering delicate notes of violets and candied orange peel that cede softly to darker tones of licorice, dried blackberry and savory spice. Give the wine the time it needs to open in the glass. This vintage flaunts its most elegant side, with fine tannins and soft fruity fiber that remains everlasting and pure. This estate is known for taking its biggest chances in the so-called off vintages. Betting on 2014 has turned out to be a brilliantly contemplated move." Robert Parker

"The aromas are so seductive with dried roses and berries. Tar and asphalt, too. Full bodied, very tight and powerful. Lean and long tannins. It goes on for so long. Stops and then starts over again. A curious and challenging young wine. Great." James Suckling

    • Barbaresco Asili Riserva DOCG 2011
MAGNUM

Barbaresco Asili Riserva DOCG 2011 · MAGNUM

Barbaresco Riserva Asili is beautifully perfumed, rose petals and ripe berries, splendid in its round, sensual fruit. On the palate, opulent, elegant and rich in irresistibly silky tannins that produce even more substance and richness than the white label. A wine of breathtaking beauty and great longevity. SUPERIORE.DE

"The 2011 Barbaresco Riserva Asili (red label) is a full and generous wine that wraps thickly over the senses. The bouquet shows enormous depth and power with a generous presentation of dark fruit, cassis, balsam herb, cola, licorice, tar and lingering smoke. There is an evident sense of fruit ripeness here that helps to build momentum and staying power. Clay soils in the vineyard site have also helped to contribute to the heft and full-bodied nature of this special wine. The finish is characterized by mild acidity and lingering flavors of ripe fruit. The opulent fruit of the wine recalls the 2007 and 2004 vintages." Robert Parker

"Good medium red. Crushed cherry, raspberry, rose petal and botanical herbs on the tangy nose and palate. If the Santo Stefano is a more masculine, underbrushy style of nebbiolo, this one is a perfume bomb in the mouth, incredibly silky and fine-grained but with outstanding sappy tang to leaven its thickness. Most impressive today on the slowly mounting, elegant, mouth-saturating back end, which features big but fine-grained tannins and outstanding rising length. A real essence of nebbiolo." Antonio Galloni

"This is an incredible wine that reminds me of the perfect 2000 Barolo Rocche de Falletto. Flowers, spices, leather and animals. Decadent. Dried mushrooms. Then changes to Japanese ginger and lemon peel. Full-bodied but refined and so long. It has layers of fruit and power. So refined. Ripe and intense. Perfect balance and harmony." James Suckling

    • Barbaresco Asili Riserva DOCG 2016
MAGNUM

Barbaresco Asili Riserva DOCG 2016 · MAGNUM

In the exceptional year 2016, the Asili single vineyard was chosen for the Riserva in its characteristic red robe, which will not surprise Giacosa connoisseurs. As few as 10,000 bottles of the probably best Giacosa vineyard are sold as Riserva only in the very best years. Asili 2016 shows a seamless integration of wild fruits, blue flowers, spices, balsamic herbs and licorice. The palate then reveals its true class: structure, dimension, intensity and depth leave nothing to be desired; with this vintage, it is arguably one of the best wines we have ever had in the glass from Bruno Giacosa. There is only one flaw with this highly dramatic growth: Whoever wants to enjoy this wine with all its facets and components should be patient for at least another 10 years. SUPERIORE.DE

"This is really muscular and really powerful. It is amazing. Full-bodied, yet tight and super structured with incredible power and super toned tannins. It goes on for minutes. The greatest Barbaresco ever from here? I love the strength with fruit finesse. I don’t remember tasting a young Asili like this. Give this a lot of time to come together. One for the cellar." This wine embodies the Piedmontese character: headstrong, persistent and silent, discreet and strong. Its colour is inviting ruby. Rich, elegant bouquet of berries and spices, initially reserved on the palate, then develops very balanced and smooth with precise structure, polished tannin and tight acidity. SUPERIORE.DE

"There’s impeccable transparency and freshness to this Barbaresco on the nose, which introduces bright rose petals, lifted orange peel, crushed stones and sour cherries. The stoney tannins trace intricate detail on the medium-to full-bodied palate, highlighting the racy acidity, brambly undertones and a beautiful array of wild berries. Yes, there’s power and depth of flavor, but this is all about grace and beauty." James Suckling

Barolo DOCG 2017 · 6 Bottles in OWC

The grapes for the second vintage of Giacosa's Barolo come from selected vineyards of Serralunga d'Alba and a small part from the Comune di Barolo. It is accessible earlier than the Falletto, a little more powerful and punchy and no less charming. The grapes grow on mainly calcareous clay soils, which give the wine a cooler style at first sight. On the nose, dark fruits, spices, tar and lots of tangy licorice with a hint of anise. On the palate, these flavors join tightly woven wild berry fruit to create a fresh, juicy package whose harmony and complexity surprise us at a young age. The tannins are tightly woven, with a few years of bottle aging they will recede in favor of elegance and depth. SUPERIORE.DE

    • Barolo "Falletto Vigna Le Rocche" DOCG 2015
6 Bottles in OWC

Barolo “Falletto Vigna Le Rocche” DOCG 2015 · 6 Bottles in OWC

Beautiful Barolo from every perspective, because the intensity of the bouquet and the elegance of taste are unique. Super fine tannins lend spine and structure to the rich fruit aromas. Falletto Vigna Le Rocche offers a dreamlike fresh consistency and balance and always keeps the right balance. SUPERIORE.DE

"Le Rocche is a selection from the highest parcels in Falletto in Serralunga, which helps to explain its great finesse. The raspberry and redcurrant nose shows great purity of fruit, poise and stylishness. The palate is equally elegant, with a lean attack, polished tannins and a silky, intense texture. There's ample tannic grip but it's not aggressive and there are none of the rough edges often apparent in Serralunga. Balanced and very long." Decanter

"Bottled in July of last year, the 2015 Barolo Falletto Vigna Le Rocche is a daring and absolutely profound expression of Nebbiolo with the depth, thickness and volume you can expect from a warm vintage such as this. This wine is a veritable bomb of aromatic intensity with thick layers of dark fruit, spice and crushed stone that all vie for your attention in equal measure. The mouthfeel is characterized by thick fiber and lasting succulence, all capped with fresh acidity and a firm tannic backbone. This Barolo is classic Giacosa." Robert Parker

"It takes a few seconds to access the core of fruit in this taut, sinewy red, but there is a beam of pure cherry, accented by rose, wild juniper, thyme and licorice flavors. This turns elegant and supple in the end, with terrific complexity, harmony and minerally length." Wine Spectator

"I am lost for words with this wine. Perfumed and so elegant with the most exquisite aromas of roses, plums and earth. Yet always subtle and complex. Full body, ultra-fine and firm tannins. Upgraded. Fantastic finish that lasts for minutes. Try in 2026." James Suckling

    • Barolo "Falletto" DOCG 2017
6 Bottles in OWC

Barolo “Falletto” DOCG 2017 · 6 Bottles in OWC

The Barolo Falletto from the eponymous slope in Serralunga, where the winery is also located, has a wonderfully complex and racy personality. It impresses with the intensity of its dark fruit and the excellent overall balance that can only be found in this coveted site. The 2017 vintage has matured a complex, fruit-driven Falletto that ranges from small dark berries to menthol, flowers, licorice, and tannins that are present yet trimmed for consistent elegance. It is a particularly precise and direct Barolo without being loud. However, its full character, aromatic diversity and delicacy will only really come to the fore with further bottle ageing. Barolo “Falletto” DOCG 2016 · 6 Bottles in OWC

With the exceptional 2016 vintage, the Falletto proves once again what this wine is capable of. Complex bouquet with subtle sweetness, an inner fragrance and nuances that are generally only found in Giacosa's Red Label Riservas. The Falletto impresses with the intensity of its dark fruit and the excellent overall balance. The vintage's extroverted personality is evident, especially when the wine is left to meander in the glass for some time. Menthol, flowers and liquorice give the wine refined complex notes on the finish. This is a particularly racy Barolo from Bruno Giacosa, which also has an impressive characteristic elegance! SUPERIORE.DE

"A massive wine from Serralunga, this displays dense cherry and red-fruit aromas that are solid and brooding. Full-bodied with firm tannins that are chunky now, this has immense concentration and force, if not the ethereal quality that marks Giacosa's supreme wines. But it's balanced, with the high alcohol not discernible, and given the slight furriness on the very long finish, this needs time." Decanter

"This pretty red offers distinctive mint, black tea, cherry, tar, iron and tobacco aromas and flavors. Firm and dry, with the tobacco and tea notes echoing on the finish. Shows plenty of finesse." Wine Spectator

"This is a really dense red with intensity and beauty, showing dried fruit, such as strawberries, as well as chocolate, tar, hazelnuts and meat. Really complex and rich. Opulent, yet tense with dusty tannins. Extremely long. Great finish. Hard not to drink now, but will age incredibly well. Try after 2025." James Suckling

    • Barbaresco Asili Riserva DOCG 2016
Double-MAGNUM in OWC

Barbaresco Asili Riserva DOCG 2016 · Double-MAGNUM in OWC

One for the cellar."
