The legendary "Red Label" from Bruno Giacosa is a rare privilege reserved only for the greatest vintages. 2014 was a year of contrasts in Piedmont – a cool, rainy summer placed the highest demands on the work in the vineyard. In the Vigna Le Rocche parcel within the Falletto cru vineyard, however, thanks to meticulous selection, Nebbiolo of outstanding quality was harvested. The long, dry autumn allowed the grapes to ripen perfectly, preserving their elegance and aromatic finesse.

A brilliant, transparent garnet red colour in the glass. Complex and subtle on the nose: red cherry, cranberry and dried strawberry, flanked by violets, rosehip, sweet tobacco and a hint of graphite. Extremely precise on the palate, with slender yet firm tannins and a lively, carrying acidity that gives the wine freshness and energy. The texture is silky, the flavours clearly defined, the final long, salty and mineral with a fine spiciness. A Barolo that takes the virtues of the vintage to the extreme – less opulent than the warmer vintages, but with a dashing, almost aristocratic elegance that makes it a wine for connoisseurs and gives it enormous ageing potential.
