“Comes” Pecorino Offida DOCG 2024 (BIO)
Pecorino? You know it as sheep's milk cheese! Here in the Marche region, pecorino is above all an indigenous grape variety with a centuries-old tradition on the slopes of the Piceno Apennines. And what Saladini Pilastri makes from it is beautiful – organically vinified and with the character that makes this underrated region so special. The Saladini Pilastri organic winery cultivates four hectares of Pecorino vines in the municipalities of Spinetoli and Monteprandone, 150 metres above sea level. Here, on alluvial soils rich in gravel, they grow in an east-north-east orientation – perfect for the natural acidity and minerality that characterise this variety. 4,200 vines per hectare in the Guyot system, hand-picked in the first week of September when the grapes have reached their optimum balance.

!["Cuvée XVII" Valpolicella Classico DOC 2024]()
“Cuvée XVII” Valpolicella Classico DOC 2024
XVII – the Roman seventeen honours the century in which the Rizzardi family acquired its first vineyards in Negrar in 1678. Since then, the house has cultivated the best vineyards in the Classico zone – pojega, Calcarole, Rovereti – on calcareous clay soils in the hills above the plain. Corvina and Corvinone form the backbone of this cuvée, with Rondinella, Merlot and Croatina providing the accents. Bright purple red in the glass. Shadow cherry and black pepper on the nose, with a hint of cherry blossom and Mediterranean herbs. Round and juicy on the palate, with an invigorating freshness and an earthy, herbal finish. Proof that Valpolicella has depth and character even without Appassimento – and an ideal introduction to the world of Guerrieri Rizzardi. SUPERIORE.DE

!["Guarnaccio" Perricone Rosso Sicilia DOC 2021]()
“Guarnaccio” Perricone Rosso Sicilia DOC 2021
Guarnaccio is called Perricone in the old Regaleali dialects and stands for a long, almost forgotten tradition of indigenous red wines. The vines are rooted on 2.6 hectares in the historic Vigneto Ciminnita, newly planted in 2011, on brooding, fine clayey soil with a sparse limestone flow. Rich in polyphenols and with spicy flavours, Guarnaccio evokes memories of an ancient winemaking tradition. Ruby red in colour with a lively core. Spicy on the nose: ripe cherry, rosehip, blackberry, accompanied by balsamic laurel, delicate eucalyptus notes and warm tobacco. On the palate, Guarnaccio is full-bodied and powerful, but with beautiful finesse. Dense fruit is combined with earthy, spicy depth, the tannins are present and noble, the acidity is captivating and creates tension. The finish remains elegant, with peppery spice and fine mineral salinity, a Sicilian red wine with attitude. Ideal with grilled beef, braised lamb or strong cheese. SUPERIORE.DE

!["Misto Mare" Bianco Vigneti delle Dolomiti IGT 2024]()
“Misto Mare” Bianco Vigneti delle Dolomiti IGT 2024
A wine like an ecosystem: "Misto Mare" is no ordinary white wine, but a polyphonic poem of nature from Alois Lageder. The blend combines grapes from over 14 white and red grape varieties from organically or biodynamically cultivated vineyards that are still in the process of converting to organic certification. The grapes come from a wide range of altitudes in South Tyrol – a reflection of regional diversity, captured in a single wine. The name "Misto Mare" refers to the geological past: Around 200 million years ago, South Tyrol was covered by a primordial sea. Today, vines grow there on what was once seabed, their complexity reminiscent of the former depths and the complex balance of marine habitats.

Chianti Classico DOCG 2022 (BIO)
Radda in Chianti is one of the coolest municipalities in the appellation. Here, at an altitude of 400 metres, where dense forests surround the vineyards and stone-walled country lanes run through the hills, Sangiovese thrives in ideal conditions. The strong day-night temperature fluctuations give the grapes the freshness and aromatic clarity that make Radda wines unmistakable. Castello di Radda has been cultivating its vineyards in a fully certified organic way since 2020, with each parcel vinified separately and only brought together at the time of blending. The cuvée of 95% Sangiovese and 5% Canaiolo is destemmed after manual harvesting and fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Maceration on the skins lasts two to three weeks – this is made possible by the perfect physiological ripeness of the grapes. Malolactic fermentation takes place in both steel and wood before the wine matures partly in 500-litre Liters and partly in 20-hectolitre French and Slavonian oak barrels. Several months of bottle ageing round off the harmonious development.

“Tradition” Weißburgunder Alto Adige DOC 2024
Pinot Blanc is not a fad in Terlan. It is the foundation. The grape variety around which cellar master Rudi Kofler has been thinking for decades is Pinot Bianco – and no other place in Italy produces it as clearly, as long-lived, as unmistakably as these slopes. The vineyards lie at 350 to 900 metres, on steep to very steep slopes on Monte Tschöggl – higher and cooler than most other Terlan parcels. Quartz porphyry, hand-picked, gentle pressing, slow fermentation in steel, 6–7 months on the fine lees. The 2024 vintage was challenging: a wet spring, heavy yield losses, smaller berries – and therefore more concentrated fruit.

The spectacular steep slope of Römigberg rises high above Lake Kaltern – a location that comes particularly close to the ideal of a closed farm organisation. Here, oxen graze between the vines and the traditional pergola training protects the thin-skinned Vernatsch grapes from intense sunlight. On gravel-rich dolomite limestone between 250 and 330 metres, a Vernatsch of exceptional finesse is produced under biodynamic Demeter cultivation. The spontaneous mash fermentation in wooden barrels and stainless steel tanks, partly on whole grapes, gives this autochthonous South Tyrolean classic a special complexity. Barbara Widmer's Chianti Classico emphasises clarity and origin: 100% Sangiovese from plots in Castellina and Radda (230–400 metres), on limestone and clay soils with south to south-west exposure. Fermented in stainless steel tanks, followed by around twelve months in stainless steel and cement on the fine lees – deliberately without the use of wood to allow the grape variety to speak purely and precisely. Bright ruby red in colour with a cherry-red core. Juicy cherry, redcurrant and violet on the nose, with a hint of herbs and wet stone. Chianti Classico DOCG 2023
In the western heart of Chianti Classico, between Florence and Siena, lie the four historic vineyards of Castello di Monsanto: Il Poggio, Scanni, Il Mulino and Il Salcio. On 72 hectares between 280 and 320 metres above sea level, surrounded by a Mediterranean biotope of cypresses, junipers, brooms and strawberry trees, predominantly Sangiovese vines thrive on the characteristic Galestro soils – the slate-like rock that gives the wines depth and powerful characteristics. The Bianchi family has consistently favoured the quality of Sangiovese for over 60 years and created the first Chianti Classico cru in 1962 with Il Poggio. The Annata is made from a selection of grapes from the younger vineyards, which are particularly suitable for ageing in large Slavonian oak barrels. 90% Sangiovese is complemented by 10% Canaiolo and Colorino – a classic blend that combines freshness and accessibility with the characteristic depth of the Monsanto terroir.

!["Villa Castiglioni" Rosso Marche IGT 2019]()
“Villa Castiglioni” Rosso Marche IGT 2019
In the hills between Macerata and Ancona, Bisci's red wines are made from the modest 1.5 hectares of Sangiovese and Merlot that have complemented the portfolio of the legendary Verdicchio specialists since the very beginning. The Villa Castiglioni 2019 combines 80% Sangiovese with 20% Merlot in a sophisticated cuvée that expresses the warm terroir of the Marche region. After manual harvesting, the wine is macerated for 15 days in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature with daily pumping over, followed by twelve months of ageing partly in oak barrels and partly in steel.

![Chianti Classico DOCG 2022 (BIO)]()
Chianti Classico DOCG 2022 (BIO)
Montegrossi's Chianti Classico remains true to the estate's style every year with its deep violet colour and initially youthful, reductive nose. On the palate, it shows its potential with a fascinating build-up of tension and fresh fruit of black cherries and blackberries. The supple tannins are refined and polished, but it's the juicy, savoury notes and tangy acidity that really make the wine sing. An energetic classic of the appellation whose average it surpasses every year. Great ageing potential. SUPERIORE.DE

!["Brolettino" Lugana DOC 2023]()
“Brolettino” Lugana DOC 2023
With the Brolettino, Ca' dei Frati shows the powerful, mature side of Lugana. The Turbiana grapes come from older vines, whose deep roots give the fruit particular concentration. After fermentation, the wine matures for several months in barriques, which gives it additional structure and depth. Brilliant straw yellow colour with golden reflections in the glass. Ripe yellow fruit, pineapple, apricot and candied lemon on the nose, with fine vanilla and almond notes. Creamy and full-bodied on the palate, with an elegant woody flavour, fine minerality and harmoniously integrated acidity. The finish is long, smooth and delicately enveloping. A Lugana with fullness and elegance, which presents itself excellently both young and after a few years of ageing in the bottle. SUPERIORE.DE

The British Decanter plays in the league of the best and most widely read wine magazines in the world and has developed into England's leading trade magazine for international wines and spirits since its foundation in 1975. And although the Decanter is still only published in English, it is read by novices and wine professionals in over 90 countries.
The monthly issues look behind the scenes of the wine industry and offer recommendations of the wines that stand out positively in comparison with the international competition. As part of the annual Decanter World Wine Awards, over 15,000 wines from around the world are tasted blind for an entire week in London, giving the judges significantly more time to make their assessments compared to similar tasting competitions.
The rating of the best wines was long based on the concept of the British wine critic Michael Broadbent, who has shaped Decanter magazine since its beginnings. Today, they rate according to the strict 20- and 100-point procedures, for which all submitted wines are divided according to country, region, colour, grape variety, style, vintage and price. The panel of experts includes expert wine writers such as Jancis Robinson and numerous top sommeliers who decide on the awards and medals, which is why the Decanter World Wine Award is also one of the most influential competitions in the wine world for many wine producers.
