Wenn man die Geschichte vom Aufwand hört, der für den Weinberg Colonia betrieben wurde, muss man sich fragen, ob die feinen Leute von Fèlsina absolut verrückt sind. Sie brauchten zwei Jahre, um den imposanten Felsen zu beseitigen, der frühere Generationen der Familie Poggiali gezwungen hatte, diese edle Lage praktisch aufzugeben. Doch dem ehrgeizigen Giovanni Poggiali ist es zu verdanken, dass dieser spektakuläre Weinberg (Vigneto Colonia) zu dem wurde, was er heute ist. Er hat rötlich-braune Böden, ist reich an Magnesium und Eisen und damit ganz anders als alle anderen Lagen Fèlsinas.

Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Colonia ist ein Wein von enormer Schönheit und Tiefe. Dunkelrubin im Glas, duftet er expressiv mineralisch und rein, mit Aromen dunkler Kirsche und schwarzer Johannisbeere. Mineralische und Graphitaromen und der einfach grandiose Fokus auf die Sangiovese-Traube machen ihn zu einem unvergleichbaren Meisterwerk. Am Gaumen von höchster Balance und Eleganz mit optimal integriertem Holz - hier wird sofort klar, dass ein dem Fontalloro mehr als ebenbürtiger, weiterer Spitzenwein des Hauses entstanden ist.
