Bright ruby colour with purple reflections. The vintage reveals a fresh yet concentrated bouquet: juicy cherries, red plums, violet blossom and a hint of freshly crushed almonds. On the palate, it is firmer than the basic Dolcetto, with concise fruit, clear, present acidity and a dense, fine tannin that gives it exceptional balance. The Falletto di Serralunga d'Alba site is unmistakably characterised by its mineral backbone and noble texture – a serious Dolcetto that brings its terroir to the glass with aplomb and can develop over the years. Roero Arneis is also known as Barolo Bianco, which is entirely true for this excellent white wine from Neve's noble forge. Bruna Giacosa's Arneis in particular is a great example of a Roero wine that surpasses the normality of the appellation by far and at the same time has a great sense of inner freshness and complexity.

Here comes Bruno Giacosa's rare Metodo Classico made from 100% Pinot Nero, which demonstrates the fine art of sparkling in its finest form and impressively emphasises Piedmont's potential for sparkling wines even outside the Alta Langa. Clear, bright straw yellow in colour with a fine, persistent perlage. The bouquet is multi-layered: ripe yellow apple, Williams pear, fresh citrus zest and a hint of white flowers, underpinned by a fine brioche note and subtle nutty hints from the 30 months of ageing on the lees. Remarkably precise and elegant on the palate, the texture is silky and carried by a present, perfectly integrated acidity. Medium ruby colour with a delicate purple rim. Fresh red fruits open up on the nose – raspberry, cherry, redcurrant – accompanied by violets, white pepper and a hint of undergrowth. The Valmaggiore site, gently sloping and rich in light-coloured, sandy soil, was already noted in old 19th century maps as being particularly suitable for Nebbiolo. Its exposure allows for optimal ripening without losing the fine, almost dance-like style that makes this wine so unmistakable. A Valmaggiore that is already inspiring today with its animating style and at the same time will richly reward patience and bottle ageing.

The grapes come from various, carefully selected sites in the Barolo zone, whose different soils and altitudes give this wine complexity and depth. A traditionally vinified Barolo that combines elegance, origin and the ageing potential of this great appellation. Bright garnet red with a brick-coloured rim. This 2018 Barolo already reveals its classic Piedmontese character on the nose: dried cherry, rosehip and ripe raspberry are combined with notes of rose petals, liquorice, fine tobacco and a hint of truffle. The Barbaresco Rabajà 2019 opens with a noble, almost majestic aroma: sour cherry, ripe raspberry and redcurrant merge with notes of violet, dried rose petals, fine spice, cedar wood and a hint of graphite. The great class of this iconic Barbaresco vineyard is evident on the palate – powerful, but never overloaded, with fine-grained, tightly woven tannins that give contour to the juicy fruit. The acidity is present and perfectly integrated, lending the wine freshness and elegance, while a mineral core and subtle salinity carry the long, precise finish. From the south-west facing, chalky slopes of Rabajà, a Barbaresco of rare depth and tension is created here, which is both structured and seductive and has the potential to develop over many years – and has the potential to continue to refine over many years. Rabaja and Asili are probably the most famous sites in Barbaresco. Medium, finely fragrant nose of rose petals, cherries and blue blossoms, with restrained ethereal herbal notes. On the palate, powerful, compact and with a well-proportioned cornucopia of black fruits such as blackberry and cassis, plus some liquorice. As the wine progresses, it shows its power and a certain pressure, which, however, never comes across as wild or ostentatious, but always reflects the elegance of the site and the Giacosa-typical ageing in large wood. Barolo 2020 from our own and leased vineyards in Serralunga d'Alba presents itself with a complex aroma: ripe cherry, red plum and raspberry combine with notes of violet, rose petal, sweet spices and a hint of tobacco. Characteristic depth and energy of the vintage on the palate – powerful but clearly characterised, with present, well-integrated acidity and polished tannins. The fruit remains precise and juicy right into the long, mineral-influenced finish, while fine balsamic nuances and a subtle earthiness emphasise its origin from the limestone and clay-rich vineyards around Serralunga. The magnificent Asili 2022 opens with a dark, compact appearance and displays an impressive level of aromatic intensity and complexity. On the nose, tantalising aromas of cherry, strawberry, eucalyptus, plus a hint of orange peel, rose petals and pine wood. Full to medium-bodied on the palate, with crushed raspberries, juicy red cherries, cinnamon and chopped herbs. The fresh acidity and exquisite tannins provide a bright and extremely elegant backdrop. The Barolo Falletto from the hillside of the same name in Serralunga, where the winery is also located, has a wonderfully complex and racy personality. It impresses with the intensity of its dark fruit and the excellent overall balance that can only be found in this coveted site. Its spectrum ranges from small dark berries to menthol, flowers and liquorice to a tannin that is present yet trimmed for consistent elegance. It is a particularly precise and direct Barolo without being loud. However, its full character, aromatic diversity and delicacy will only really come to the fore with further bottle ageing. Rabajà is one of the legendary parcels of Barbaresco – a sun-drenched, perfectly orientated site with limestone and marl-rich soils that has been synonymous with powerful yet incredibly refined Nebbioli for generations. The 2020 vintage draws its depth and precision from this terroir. The year brought a balanced combination of warmth and moderate rainfall, resulting in perfectly ripe harvestwith a fine tannin structure. The colour in the glass is a dense garnet red with orange highlights. The bouquet unfolds in layers: dark cherry, ripe raspberry, violets and dried roses, plus tobacco, liquorice and a mineral nuance. On the palate, the wine is structured and focussed, with clear fruit, a concise but fine-meshed tannin structure and a lively acidity that gives it length and energy. The Falletto vineyard in Serralunga d'Alba is considered the centrepiece of Bruno Giacosa's work. The south and south-west facing slopes with calcareous marl soils produce Nebbiolo with unmistakable depth and structure. The 2020 vintage was characterised by a warm, sunny summer, balanced by cool nights and a long, stable autumn – ideal conditions for fully ripe, aromatically complex grapes with precise acidity.

Rabajà is one of the great vineyards of Barbaresco – a gently sloping south-west-facing slope between the Asili and Martinenga crus, whose calcareous and clayey soils produce wines with unmistakable depth. The 2021 vintage is considered outstanding in Piedmont: a balanced vegetation cycle with warm days, cool nights and ideal harvest conditions produced Nebbiolo grapes of rare aromatic purity and perfect phenolic ripeness. The single vineyard Falletto in Serralunga d'Alba is one of the centrepieces of the Barolo region. On steep, south-facing slopes, whose marl and sandstone soils store heat and contribute minerality, Nebbiolo matures here into wines of great structure and depth. The 2021 vintage is considered one of the best of the last decade: a stable summer with cool nights and sunny days allowed for long, even ripening and produced grapes of rare balance.
