"The Marchesi Antinori 2017 Tignanello (made from Sangiovese and smaller proportions of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc) is a dark, lush and inviting wine. I tasted my sample after a double decant and was delighted by the depth of the wine and the immediate openness of the flavours. It is a symphony of dark fruit with black cherry, plum, spice and sweet tobacco. I particularly like a distant hint of medicinal or mentholated herbs, which I have detected in other wines with fruit from the Tignanello estate in 2017. There is also a drying mineral note of crushed chalk. The heat and dryness of the vintage have increased the aromatic intensity of the wine (yields were reduced by a third), but the mouthfeel is carefully crafted to maintain its softness and suppleness. The fruit comes from a 57-hectare section of Tenuta Tignanello from a vineyard 390 metres above sea level, composed of Alberese limestone and soils of marine origin." Wine Advocate

Barolo Brunate is a powerful and vertical wine, endowed with enormous explosive energy and intensity. Crushed flowers, mint, spices and dried flowers open up in the glass, but it is the energy of the wine that really lifts it into the stratosphere. In the glass, the 2019 is dark, almost sombre, and full of the sepia-coloured nuances that are so typical of this great Barolo vineyard. 2019 is an outstanding vintage for Brunate and the first with organic certification. The grapes of Romirasco come from the single vineyard of the same name in the Bussia district. The vines stand at an altitude of about 400 m and are up to 55 years old. It is probably the spiciest representative in Aldo Conterno's overall programme. On the nose, fine notes of tar and smoke, plus cherry, elderberries and menthol. On the palate, notes of raspberry, redcurrant, rosemary and thyme immediately take over. The spirited Chiara Boschis has been a rather modernist Barolo winemaker for over 25 years, although she now uses much less new oak than she used to. She is best known for her Cannubi, but her Mosconi, which comes from 1 hectare of this top vineyard in Monforte d'Alba, can be just as good in some vintages.

Siepi 2020 impresses even at a young age with its volume, fruit and richness. It is made from equal parts Merlot and Sangiovese and both grapes bring their best qualities to the blend. The Sangiovese grape shows a distinct personality with localised notes of small berries and spices and also offers a wonderfully fresh acidity. Merlot plays a strong role in the background, adding softness, fullness and richness. Siepi is an intense, powerful wine that has a terrificarc of tension, ranging from its highly attractive extract sweetness to polished tannins in a fresh, savoury finish with an interesting salty note.
