Salealto consists of equal parts Insolia, Zibibbo and Grillo and was aged for about 10 months on the fine lees in stainless steel. Strong golden yellow with green reflections. Open nose with hints of beeswax, yellow flowers, acacia, red apple and green pepper. Very refreshing on the palate, low acidity, fine saltiness and a wonderful fruit exoticism. "A three-way blend of Inzolia, Zibibbo and Grillo from vineyards in the area of Piana degli Albanesi near Palermo, grown at altitudes of between 700 and 800 metres. Rounded yet light on its feet, this is very pure in its vivid fruits and clean acidity. Maldafrica denotes an "inner longing for a distant land" and is not love at first sight, but it is one of the most interesting wines of Sicily. It is very subtle and nuanced at first and it opens up gradually on its own timetable, but then: spontaneously fermented in amphorae, Maldafrica overwhelms the senses with dark fruits, spices, chopped herbs, salty notes, sulphur, leather and damp tobacco. "Fallwind" is the new name for the Pinot Nero Riserva with feminine scents of sweet fruits, flowers, minerals and spices. Slender and delicate on the palate, with great balance. The first year of production of the single-varietal Merlot Clos Roareti dates back to 2004. The grapes are harvested from the 2 hectare historic Rovereti vineyard in Negrar. In this 100-year-old vineyard, which is surrounded by equally old walls, Merlot has been cultivated since the 1990s and is perfectly adapted to the climate and the red clay soil. The palate is rich and full-bodied with complex and very aromatic notes. Maturation in oak barrels gives this wine its special flavour and certain opulence. SUPERIORE.DE

What would Piedmont be without its slightly effervescent red Freisa? Normally, the Piedmontese tend to enjoy these immensely drinkable wines themselves, so that hardly any relevant quantity remains for export. The nose has an animating scent of rose petals, cinnamon and cherry, which are also found in the drink. L'Avvenata is a rather slender red, distantly reminiscent of a Nebbiolo.
