!["Mandriolo" Rosso Maremma Toscana DOC 2024]()
“Mandriolo” Rosso Maremma Toscana DOC 2024
For centuries, the Maremma was the land of the butteri – the Tuscan drovers who rode through the marshland on small horses and herded the large white Maremma cattle. The mandriolo, the herdsman, was their trade. Morisfarms has given this name a wine that suits it: down-to-earth, uncomplicated, straightforward. 80% Sangiovese, supplemented by Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Petit Verdot – a pragmatic blend from the Poggetti estate in Massa Marittima. Clay-rich, fossil-rich soils, seven kilometres of coastline, south-west exposure. Harvested in mid to late September, fermented in temperature-controlled cement vats with 15 days of maceration, pumping over twice a day. No wood. Bottled for three months. Finished.

“Rosamundi” Rosato Maremma Toscana DOC 2024
Curtain up for a lively Italian rosato: bright orange-pink colour, delicate floral nose with hints of small red fruits. Delicate, fresh fruit on the palate, neither ripe nor sweet. Medium-bodied on the palate, very straightforward and clean, with lively acidity, a delicate melting texture and a respectable finish. This single-varietal Sangiovese Rosato clearly stands out from the average swimming pool wine. SUPERIORE.DE

!["Rosamundi" Rosato Maremma Toscana DOC 2025]()
“Rosamundi” Rosato Maremma Toscana DOC 2025
Rosamundi is one of the oldest rose species in Europe – the Gallic rose, cultivated by the Greeks and Romans, cultivated in medieval gardens and recognised as one of the most important of its kind in the 19th century. Morisfarms has chosen this name for a rosé that does it justice: historically rooted, botanically precise, with a quiet elegance. 100% Sangiovese from the Poggetti estate in Massa Marittima – clay-rich soils, south-west exposure, seven kilometres of sea air. The grapes are harvested in mid-September. What follows is the decisive factor: The skins are removed immediately after gentle pressing – no contact with the skins, vinification like a white wine. Fermentation in steel under dry ice protection, 15 days on the fine lees, fresh in the bottle.

![Vermentino Costa Toscana IGT 2025]()
Vermentino Costa Toscana IGT 2025
Morisfarms is located seven kilometres from the Tyrrhenian Sea. And you can taste it. The Vermentino from the Poggetti estate carries the coast in the glass: salty, mineral, fresh, with that characteristic crispness that distinguishes Vermentino from the Tuscan coast from its more opulent relatives from Sardinia or Piedmont. The wine is not a pure Vermentino, but a harmonious blend: 90 per cent Vermentino, 10 per cent Viognier – the indigenous coastal variety and an aromatic northern player. The Viognier is harvested at the end of August, the Vermentino in mid-September. Both are cold clarified separately and fermented together in steel at 18 degrees. Matured lean, short fine lees, fresh in the bottle.

!["Amor" Ansonica Costa Toscana IGT 2025]()
“Amor” Ansonica Costa Toscana IGT 2025
The name is self-explanatory: Ansonica + Morisfarms = AMOR. A play on words that is also a commitment. Since 2019, Morisfarms has dedicated its own wine to this old coastal variety – proving that the Tuscan Maremma is not just red wine country. Ansonica grows on the Poggetti estate in Massa Marittima, seven kilometres from the Tyrrhenian Sea, on clay-rich, slightly acidic soils of the Colline Metallifere. South-west exposure, hot days, cool nights, sea breeze. Harvest is in mid-October – late, typical of this variety, which takes its time. The must is processed under dry ice protection, fermented in steel at 18 degrees and left on the fine lees for 45 days.

!["Barbaspinosa" Sangiovese Maremma Toscana DOC 2020]()
“Barbaspinosa” Sangiovese Maremma Toscana DOC 2020
Barbaspinosa comes from the hills around Poggio la Mozza – characterised by ferruginous clay soils that give the Sangiovese backbone and depth. The wine is aged for twelve months, partly in barriques and partly in large wooden barrels. Ruby red in colour with a slightly lighter rim. The bouquet smells of black cherry, plum, Maremma herbs, some tobacco and a hint of leather. Powerful but well-balanced on the palate, with ripe fruit, grippy tannins and fine spice. The vintage gives fullness, but remains surprisingly fresh thanks to the cool nights. A Sangiovese full of character with a Tuscan soul – down-to-earth, honest and with a distinctive expression of the Maremma. SUPERIORE.DE

“Gualtiero” Morellino di Scansano Riserva DOCG 2021
Gualtiero Morellino di Scansano Riserva from Morisfarms shows why this traditional family winery is a firm favourite in the Maremma. The cuvée is predominantly based on Sangiovese (Morellino), supplemented by small proportions of international varieties. The vines grow on sun-drenched hills between the Tyrrhenian coast and the cool foothills of Monte Amiata, whose clay and sandy soils lend the wine fruit and structure. Careful manual harvesting was followed by temperature-controlled fermentation, after which the Riserva matured for 12 months in a combination of barriques and large wooden barrels to harmoniously combine elegance and complexity.

Rare, but true - there is actually a Tuscan vineyard with an English name: Morisfarms. When the Moris family founded the company, they chose the American term for "farm" as a supplement, because one of the brothers lived in San Francisco and the family, who had been working in agriculture for two centuries, had cultivated various agricultural products in the United States. Today the clan has more than a dozen cousins, almost half of whom work passionately on the wine farm. The farm, which covers more than 450 hectares, is managed by Adolfo Parentini, owner of the estate and son-in-law of its founder Gualtier Luigi Moris. The ancestors of the Moris family had already moved from Spain to the Maremma two centuries ago in order to fulfil their dream of their own winery.
The name of the company, located between Siena and Fallonica, already indicates that Morisfarms is a group of goods with different activities. Near Massa Marittima is located on a steep hill called Poggio all'Avvoltore - which supplies the grapes for the premium wine of the same name - is the oldest part of the winery with Fattoria Poggetti. The soils here are heavy and clayey. Poggio La Mozza in Scansano near Grosseto, on the other hand, is dominated by sandy ground. Morisfarms was one of the first producers in the Maremma to dedicate themselves to a modern style. With an annual production of around 300,000 bottles, the house has secured a large share of Tuscan wine production.
The top-class wine consultants Attilio Pagli and Andrea Paoletti are responsible as agronomists for the production of the wonderful, very independent wines - around 90 percent of which are made from Sangiovese and ten percent from international varieties. Pagli started his continuously upward career at the age of 26 on Poggio La Mozza. He introduced temperature-controlled fermentation to the white wines and brought the Syrah variety to the region. Under the supervision of Stefano Moris, Morisfarms has set itself the goal of pressing fine wines with plenty of terroir and fruit. The red wines in Poggio La Mozza are spontaneously fermented without the addition of artificial yeast. The use of wood in the air-conditioned cellar is very moderate for the higher-value plants. The barriques are only in use for three to four years. For some time now, the Tuscan wine house Morisfarms has received outstanding marks for its creations from the Critics' Guild. SUPERIORE.DE
