The name is self-explanatory: Ansonica + Morisfarms = AMOR. A play on words that is also a commitment. Since 2019, Morisfarms has dedicated its own wine to this old coastal variety – proving that the Tuscan Maremma is not just red wine country. Ansonica grows on the Poggetti estate in Massa Marittima, seven kilometres from the Tyrrhenian Sea, on clay-rich, slightly acidic soils of the Colline Metallifere. South-west exposure, hot days, cool nights, sea breeze. Harvest is in mid-October – late, typical of this variety, which takes its time. The must is processed under dry ice protection, fermented in steel at 18 degrees and left on the fine lees for 45 days.

Pale yellow in the glass. The nose is sunny and aromatic: apricot, almond, white flowers, a hint of honey and orange peel, plus the wild herbal freshness of the Mediterranean scrub. Full-bodied and silky on the palate – ansonica is naturally low in acidity, but has texture and length. The finish is warm and nutty, with a slightly salty mineral echo of the coast.
