Avvoltore is a blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. Powerful and explosive in the glass, it possesses remarkable intensity in all its dimensions, with great fruit and equally impressive tannins. Dark cherry, leather, smoke, tobacco, liquorice and grilled herbs form a virile, imposing Maremma red wine that will need at least a few years to develop its full expressive power. "Clear, firm, somewhat smoky and nutty aroma of ripe black and a little red berries with flavours reminiscent of marjoram, partly dried herbs, meaty nuances and a little pepper, tomatoes, sultanas and black olives. Ripe, juicy, slightly warm fruit, youthful, yet crumbly tannins, Mediterranean herbs on the palate, smoke, hints of bacon, pepper and black olives, a little chocolatey wood flavours with notes of candied nuts, persistent on the palate, has power and substance, a little salt in the background, barbecue sauce and sultanas again, very good finish with warm juice and sweetish-tart spice."
