Chianti Colli Senesi DOCG 2023
Far from the fame of the Vino Nobile vineyards, this Chianti was created in the "Pozzi" vineyards, where Federico Carletti ventured an oenological experiment. At an altitude of 350 to 450 metres, with a view of the famous San Biagio church, densely planted Sangiovese vines thrive on stony clay soils of almost skeletal permeability. Ninety-five per cent Sangiovese blends with five per cent other Tuscan varieties to create a Chianti of uncompromising authenticity. Six months in stainless steel preserve the youthful freshness of this DOCG composition, which Federico deliberately conceived as an alternative to modern velvet gloves.

!["Lohsa" Morellino di Scansano DOCG 2022]()
“Lohsa” Morellino di Scansano DOCG 2022
The Lohsa estate is located in Magliano in Toscana – deep in the Maremma, less than 30 kilometres from the Tyrrhenian Sea. Federico Carletti bought it in the 1990s and replanted the vineyards: Sangiovese as the heart, Ciliegiolo as the Tuscan companion. The soils here are Galestro and marl, skeleton-rich, well-drained, at an altitude of around 100 metres – the sea is close enough to moderate the ripeness without taking away the structure. Morellino di Scansano is Sangiovese in Maremma guise: sunnier, softer, more accessible than its big siblings in the north – but with its own character. Fermentation in stainless steel, followed by partial ageing in wood: the wine remains fresh and loses none of its Mediterranean directness.

![Rosso di Montepulciano DOC 2024 (BIO)]()
Rosso di Montepulciano DOC 2024 (BIO)
As an entry into the world of Vino Nobile, Federico Carletti's Rosso reveals all its directness without false modesty. Eighty per cent Sangiovese – here honourably called "Prugnolo Gentile" – are combined with twenty per cent Merlot to create a cuvée that expresses the character of the galestro-rich clay soils unfiltered. This organically produced composition matures only briefly in historic barriques, emphasising the youthful freshness of the Sangiovese grape. Intense ruby-coloured tones reveal the power of the Tuscan sun, while a seductive interplay of sour cherries and dark forest fruits with herbal and floral nuances unfolds on the nose. On the palate, this Rosso presents itself with the typical Poliziano balance: velvety, elegantly structured, with a subtle tannin structure that never dominates, but harmoniously envelops the fruity core. An authentic ambassador of its terroir. SUPERIORE.DE

!["Ambrae" Bianco Toscana IGT 2024]()
“Ambrae” Bianco Toscana IGT 2024
After a break of thirty years, Federico Carletti has ventured a renaissance in recent years: Ambrae marks Poliziano's return to white grape varieties. This elegant cuvée made from ninety per cent Chardonnay and ten per cent Roussanne thrives on the clay-rich slopes around Montepulciano – a name that, like the winery itself, pays homage to the great Renaissance humanist Angelo Ambrogini. This composition matures exclusively in stainless steel without the influence of wood, allowing the mineral depth of the Pliocene soils to express itself unfiltered.

!["Fiori Rossi" Rosso di Montepulciano DOC 2024 (BIO)]()
“Fiori Rossi” Rosso di Montepulciano DOC 2024 (BIO)
The secret of this exceptional Rosso lies hidden in the blossoming fields between the organically cultivated rows of vines in Poliziano. Fiori Rossi – a name that alludes like a promise to the fragrance and poetry of this landscape, where Federico Carletti turns the authenticity screw. This latest creation from the winery comes from ancient Prugnolo Gentile clones, the selections from which gave Montepulciano wines supra-regional importance as early as the Middle Ages. From the historic vineyards of the 1960s, now replanted at an altitude of 300 to 400 metres with meticulous attention to the microclimate, a "Super-Rosso" of incomparable identity is created.

“In Violas” Merlot Cortona DOC 2021
Cortona is only thirty kilometres from Montepulciano – and yet it is a different world. Here, on the high plateau with its dense Pliocene clays and iron oxide soils, around 300 metres above sea level, Merlot grows as if it had never been at home anywhere else. Federico Carletti recognised the potential early on – and In Violas was created in 2006. This was catalysed by his friendship with the Aliotti Tommasi family, owners of the same land. A Merlot that Carletti himself calls "con un'anima toscana". With a Tuscan soul. 100% Merlot, certified organic, 5,600 vines per hectare. Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG 2023 (BIO)
This red classic from Montepulciano already bears its claim in its name: nobile. No other wine in Italy has this adjective written into its specifications – and hardly any other producer has honoured it as consistently in recent decades as Federico Carletti and his Poliziano winery. Founded in 1961 by father Dino, today under Federico's leadership and long since anchored in the next generation – with Francesco and Maria Stella, who have been helping to shape the future since 2019 and 2021. Poliziano has been certified organic since the 2021 harvest – not a marketing decision, but the logical conclusion of decades of work without chemical weedkillers and insecticides. Prugnolo Gentile, the local variety of Sangiovese, grows on clay and limestone soils between 300 and 450 metres above sea level. Hand-picked, careful selection in the vineyard and in the cellar, fermentation with indigenous yeasts in conical concrete vats – minimum intervention, maximum expression. Poliziano stands for Nobile di Montepulciano – almost everyone knows that. But at the end of the 1990s, Federico Carletti bought a second estate, far to the south, in the centre of Maremma: Lohsa. Sandstone soils, a hundred metres above sea level, the Mediterranean climate clearly noticeable. A different terroir, a different language – and consequently a different wine. The Mandrone di Lohsa "speaks" Cabernet Sauvignon, but with an unmistakable Tuscan-Mediterranean accent. Complemented by Petit Verdot and Carignano – not decoration, but character. Small, decisive proportions that give the wine its spice, its solar power and its recognisability. !["Le Stanze del Poliziano" Rosso Toscana IGT 2021 (BIO)]()
“Le Stanze del Poliziano” Rosso Toscana IGT 2021 (BIO)
Angelo Ambrogini was born in Montepulciano in 1454. As a humanist, poet and confidant of Lorenzo de' Medici, he wrote some of the most beautiful stanzas of the Renaissance under the name "Il Poliziano". Le Stanze, his most famous work, is a poem about beauty, transience and the power of the moment. Federico Carletti has named his winery after the great poet. And this wine the title of his masterpiece. This is no coincidence. Le Stanze is Poliziano outside its borders – no Prugnolo Gentile, no DOCG obligation, no looking back. 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, certified organic since 2021: a Super Tuscan. The grapes grow on the best plots around Montepulciano, on clay and limestone soils between 300 and 450 metres above sea level. Hand-picked, fermentation in stainless steel tanks with a long maceration period of 20 to 25 days, 16 months in French barriques – precise, without exaggeration.

A story of renaissance in the truest sense of the word: after more than twenty years of silence, Le Caggiole recently shone in new splendour. What Federico Carletti describes as an "importante lavoro di recupero" is akin to oenological archaeology – the systematic rediscovery of a 14-hectare site that had once been forgotten. Montepulciano, Pienza, Cortona - these small towns comprehensively describe the terrain on which this symbolic west Tuscan winery operates. The labels of the Poliziano winery, located below Montepulciano near Gracciano, have never disappointed wine lovers. That is why the farm, which was founded by Dino Carletti in the early 1960s primarily out of love for his land, has long since established a firm place for itself in Italy's top wine league. Since the early 1980s, the estate, built in modern architecture, has been run by Federico Carletti with a dedication that already distinguished his father. The owner is regarded as a wine enthusiast who strives for perfection and is bursting with energy. These personal qualities also explain why Federico appointed none other than Carlo Ferrini as production manager at the estate and that he very successfully led the Consorzio del Vino Nobile as president for many years. In addition to Azienda Agricola Poliziano, Carletti also owns Lohsa, a vineyard in Maremma.
After successfully completing his studies in agronomy at the University of Florence, the "Dottore" first gained experience in other businesses before daring to launch a dynamic quality offensive in his father's company. Federico invested a lot of money in the old vineyards, which had already been used in the 1940s, in order to replant them and expand the cultivation areas. He also researched further possibilities to increase the quality of the yields. Today, the spacious and functionally equipped cellar is perfectly equipped with conical stainless steel cooking racks and neatly arranged small wooden barrels.
The effort put into the vineyard and the cellar has paid off. The Vino Nobile, which are kept in a modern style but still respectfully honour the tradition of the terroir, prove their consistently high charisma every year. This is why wine critics repeatedly praise the complex, beautifully structured growths in the highest terms. The wine guide Gambero Rosso, for example, has already awarded well over twenty three-glass sets for Poliziano's fine wines. The showpiece of the winery is the Nobile Asinone. The grapes of this fabulous wine, named after a vineyard, grow under optimal conditions. But the other labels of the house - such as Rosso, Nobile or Le Stanze - are also trustworthy. The Vin Santo is also of excellent quality, its elegance making it one of the best of its type in the entire Montepulciano region. SUPERIORE.DE
