“San Luigi” Dogliani DOCG 2024
Dogliani is THE Dolcetto country. Here, in southern Piedmont, the sometimes capricious grape variety finds ideal conditions: Calcareous, clayey soils that allow perfect ripening and a microclimate that combines elegance with structure. Pecchenino, which has been in family hands since the late 18th century, has perfected this combination – around three quarters of their production is Dolcetto, and San Luigi is the perfect introduction to what characterises this winery. The grapes come from several vineyards around the historic winery in Dogliani, all part of the San Luigi-Mencione, at altitudes between 390 and 430 metres with a south-easterly to south-westerly exposure. After the harvest, a ten-day maceration at 28°C follows before malolactic fermentation takes place naturally in stainless steel tanks. The wine is matured exclusively in stainless steel, which preserves the primary fruit and freshness of the Dolcetto.

A Vermentino that could hardly be more Gallurese: On the granite-rich soils of the northern hills of Sardinia, moulded by wind, light and salty sea air, Elibaria matures into a white wine that makes its origins tangible in the glass. The wine is matured puristically in stainless steel tanks and for several months on the fine lees – without wood, without fining, but with maximum precision. Brilliant straw yellow in the glass. The bouquet is characterised by the minerality of the granite: In addition to yellow citrus fruit, ripe peach and apple, notes of sage, sea herbs and a cool stoniness unfold, as only Gallura with its high altitudes and winds can produce. The palate is dense yet light as a feather: taut acidity, a finely salted texture, a hint of almond skin, all carried by vibrant freshness and a tactile minerality that is almost reminiscent of wet rock. The name reveals the secret: in Taglio del Tralcio, the shoot is cut just before the harvest so that the grapes wilt slightly on the vine – a technique reminiscent of Amarone, but used more carefully here. The Aglianico vines grow at an altitude of around 500 metres on volcanic soils at the foot of Monte Vulture. Controlled dehydration concentrates sugar and flavours without sacrificing freshness. After fermentation, the wine matures for six months in oak wood.

Augere – to enlarge, increase. This hilltop above Treiso owes its name to the Latins because the vines here have always produced better grapes than elsewhere. At Bricco, 420 metres above Munfrina, the soil is different: hard, compact, almost stony, with a high lime content – centuries of erosion have long since carried away the sand and silt. What remains challenges the Dolcetto grape and gives it an atypical tannin structure for the variety. Giorgio Pelissero responds with equally atypical vinification: ten to twelve days of maceration instead of the usual four, then six months in 50-hectolitre oak barrels to tame the powerful tannins.

A Greco with clear origins: Daltavilla reflects the extraordinary terroir of Tufo with striking precision and elegance. The calcareous tufa soils of the high altitudes give this wine mineral depth and fresh structure. The 2024 vintage is characterised by ripe, clean grapes that were able to ripen particularly aromatically thanks to cool evenings during the ripening phase. Brilliant straw yellow in the glass with a golden green hue. The nose smells of yellow fruits such as almond zest, warm lemon and white peach, complemented by floral notes and a subtle smoky flavour in the background. Juicy and dry on the palate, with harmonious acidity and elegant fruit, carried by a spicy mineral note that leads into the long, slightly salty finish. “Silìneo” Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG 2022
Silìneo – a neologism born from the fusion of "sinuoso" (supple) and "lineo" (linear). The name epitomises what this wine is all about: elegance, suppleness, balance and harmony. It is the most classic wine from Fattoria del Cerro and has been the most successful for years. Silìneo is made from 90 per cent Sangiovese (locally called Prugnolo Gentile) and ten per cent Merlot and Colorino, from vineyards in Acquaviva di Montepulciano on soils of marine Pliocene origin with clay and silt between 250 and 400 metres above sea level. After manual harvesting, fermentation takes place with maceration at 24 to 28°C with daily overflow and délestage. The wine then matures for seven months in tonneaux, followed by eleven months in large Slavonian oak barrels.

“Giravolta” Primitivo di Manduria DOP 2020 (BIO)
Giravolta – a name with a history. This was the name of the racehorse that once galloped across the Pozzopalo stud farm and always turned round abruptly in front of the old tuff quarry. This "U-turn" gave the wine its name, but it is the terra bianca, the white earth, that characterises it. While the basic Primitivo comes from the Terra Rossa, the Giravolta grows on calcareous, white soil, created by the breaking up of limestone. The tuffy, stony composition ensures rapid water drainage, but the porous stones also store moisture for the roots.

A small lake, over 60 animal species, some of them rare, and in the middle of it all: 30 hectares of Turbiana vines (Trebbiano di Soave). Oasi Mantellina in Pozzolengo is the Allegrini family's latest chapter, a commitment to one of the most exciting white wine appellations in northern Italy. The soils here differ from classic Lugana: sandier, interspersed with gravel. The result is wines with lively acidity instead of heavy minerality. After gentle pressing, the 2024 matures for four months in steel, followed by two months in the bottle.

“Brentino” Rosso Veneto IGT 2023
The name is a reference: the Brenta, the river that runs through the Veneto region from the Alps to the lagoon – sometimes gently, sometimes with vigour. The wine is very similar. 55% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Sauvignon from the best vineyards of the Breganze DOC, on volcanic-tuff soil. Hand-picked, maceration for several days, fermentation in steel tanks. During ageing, the wine is divided: one half remains in steel, the other matures for twelve months in French barriques – one third of which is new.
