Deep, shiny red colour. A beguiling blend of dark cherries, plums, mocha, liquorice, leather and cloves on the nose. Very compact and powerful fruit on the palate, characterised by deep intensity, dense layers and a velvety texture. Very focussed, balanced and certainly needs a few more years to develop fully. "The 2022 Saffredi is still far too young a powerhouse with a finely contoured body, a decathlete in terms of stature, but it also has a few dancing elements. Dense and voluptuous, with the typical Mediterranean richness and herbal spiciness, wonderfully floral after violets and lavender, fine chocolate, leather and liquorice. Remains linear and disciplined in the course despite its velvety and melting fullness, as if the powerhouse were being guided into a tight corset, gripping freshness in the final.
