With "Capo Martino", Silvio Jermann not only pays tribute to the vineyard of the same name in the municipality of Dolegna del Collio, but also to his father Angelo – and thus to the origins of the family winery. It is a white wine of great cultural depth, a cuvée of indigenous varieties such as Ribolla Gialla, Malvasia Istriana, Picolit and Friulano, complemented by smaller proportions of other traditional varieties. The 2022 vintage was characterised by stable weather conditions with plenty of sunshine, which gave the grapes ripeness and expression – but without losing the typical freshness of the hills around Capo Martino. After the harvest, the grapes are destemmed, gently pressed and fermented spontaneously. Maturation takes place for around a year in large wooden barrels on the fine lees, with each component maturing separately before finally being blended into a cuvée. The result is a wine of quiet complexity and timeless elegance.
Brilliant golden yellow in the glass. The bouquet opens with ripe yellow fruit, lime blossom, candied lemon and herbs such as lemon balm and sage. This is accompanied by delicate honey notes, a hint of mandarin, dried apricot and hints of hay and chalk. The palate is multi-layered, supple and delicately mellow. The structure is powerful but never loud; carried by a lively acidity and a salty minerality that balances the wine precisely. The finish is long, complex and leaves a hint of white pepper and dried flowers. "Capo Martino" is not a white wine for quick enjoyment, but a contemplative companion – a meditative, almost poetic expression of Friulian winemaking tradition. A masterpiece in silence that gains in depth and character with each passing year. SUPERIORE.DE
"Our philosophy is rooted in family tradition and closely linked to the border region where we are located. A crossroads of Central European cultures that we have always tried to reflect in our wines. Capo Martino expresses these concepts with elegance, body and complexity. We are highly satisfied with the results achieved and are constantly investing in innovative projects to constantly improve the quality of our wines and achieve new goals." Silvio Jermann
"Sparkling light gold with silver-green reflections. Initially slightly smoky on the nose, also reminiscent of rubber, then with herbal notes, green peppers, nut butter – complex. The palate is characterised by tropical fruit, a creamy texture with supporting acidity and a long finish." Falstaff
"Capo Martino, a blend of Friulano, Ribolla Gialla, Malvasia Istriana and Picolit, seduces with a mix of ripe apples, bananas and passion fruit, with a veil of dried wisteria and acacia. This well-made wine shimmers in a sparkling golden yellow that is a prelude to the rich and harmonious interplay of flavours, with aromas of roasted pears, warm honey, hazelnut and vanilla. Elegant to the last drop." Wine Enthusiast
"The 2022 Capo Martino captivates with a blend of sage, mint and rosemary, giving way to grapefruit zest and crushed nectarines. Saline up front, it washes across the palate with lifted textures and citrus-inflected orchard fruits as a flinty resonance forms toward the close. The 2022 finishes with medium length yet is impactful, as the cheeks pucker and hints of young apricot fade." Vinous
"A mineral-driven white wine with aromas of smoke, salt and petrol on the attack that segue into flavours of nectarine, star fruit and pear, tangerine zest, lemon oil, vanilla and blanched almonds. This wine has a lush, creamy note, but this is well controlled by a well-defined acidity and a delicate thread of savoury spice that lingers on the finish." Wine Spectator
"A fresh and crisp white wine with lemon slices, lime, green apples, white pepper, lemongrass and some pear blossom on the nose and palate. It is medium to full-bodied with a creamy texture and an aftertaste of dried fruit and apples. Very perfumed. A lot going on." James Suckling
