"Sassicaia really was our house wine back then," says Priscilla Incisa della Rocchetta, daughter of the president of San Guido, Marquis Nicolò Incisa della Rocchetta. "It was more of a wine experiment that was only tested within the family and among friends, until we went on the market for the first time with the 1968 vintage. Today, this wine is all about elegance and balance. We like this style, which is not so much about the body. Sassicaia is a good representative of what we want to convey as a style."

Graceful and intense on the nose with a lavender note complemented by subtle blackberry fruit, fermented citrus peel, intense violet flavour and a graphite minerality in the depths. Soft and full on the palate, the flavour is spicy and cedary through to the finish, with integrated, velvety tannins and lively acidity. A perfectly interwoven structure is combined with the characteristic freshness and fruitiness, which will give this wine a long life. SUPERIORE.DE

"Amazingly elegant at first. The typical Sassicaia nose only presents itself after some time in the air. Then aromas of the finest cassis and wild berry fruit, tobacco and graphite emerge, with a touch of citrus fruit and orange peel as well as marvellous truffle and tobacco notes. Generous and creamy on the palate, you can feel the maturity of the vintage, but the wine remains precise and elegant throughout, with a wonderful balance. A perfect liaison of fruit, fine-meshed tannins and subtle earthy, balsamic and delicately herbal notes. Carried by fine, ripe acidity. These characteristics contribute to the silky purity of the mouthfeel and the approachable freshness of this vintage. I am confident that this bottle will get even better with time.
