Tenuta Tignanello is situated in the heart of Chianti Classico, on the rolling hills between the valleys of the rivers Greve and Pesa, and covers 319 hectares of land, of which around 130 are planted with vines. The estate's vineyards include two jewels: Tignanello and Solaia, which lie on the same hill, on marl soils of marine origin from the Pliocene period, rich in limestone and slate, and which benefit from warm days and cool nights during the growing season. These vineyards produce two wines which, many years ago, were set to become the starting point for the renaissance of Italian wine. Nothing has changed in that regard to this day.
The 2022 vintage showcases its restrained style to perfection. Tignanello is almost never overly fruity, and this vintage shines with aromas of cloves and black pepper, accompanied by notes of blueberry yoghurt. It is full-bodied, firm and velvety, with great weight and extraction on the mid-palate, and displays a long acidity that carries the exotic finish, with notes of spices and cocoa. A classic with a long life ahead of it. SUPERIORE.DE
"A deep ruby colour with a dense rim. A rich, very appealing nose, with notes of blackberry, blueberry, marjoram and a hint of mint. On the palate, plenty of precise tannins; robust and dense, it unfolds with rich blackberry notes and a hint of smoke in the background, with a long finish." Falstaff
"Exudes a captivating bouquet of black cherries, berries, liquorice and rose petals; smooth on the palate, with precisely balanced and well-integrated tannins; the acidity provides a perfect foundation, and the wine displays character and finesse right through to the long finish, with notes of cassis and cherries." Vinum
"The rich texture envelops the aromas of plum, cherry, graphite, tobacco and earth, underpinned by a hint of dusty tannins. It is fresh, elegant and long-lasting, finishing with a pleasant astringency. Give this wine a year or two to develop." Wine Spectator
"The Tignanello 2022 is a blend of 78% Sangiovese, 18% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Cabernet Franc. Aromas of red and black berries, inspired by potpourri, lead to a juicy palate of good intensity. The wine is well-balanced and bright, with cashmere-like tannins supporting a core of juicy blackberries, framed by a minerality of gravel and bitter herbs. The finish is somewhat disjointed, revealing a hint of warm alcohol and oak that has not yet fully integrated, but with time it should come into its own." Decanter
"The 2022 Tignanello is such an elegant, well-balanced wine. Lively acidity cuts through a core of red Sangiovese fruit. Crushed flowers, mint, cinnamon, rose petals and a hint of French oak emerge later, adding remarkable brightness. The 2022 is a distinctly medium-bodied Tignanello, but all the elements are beautifully balanced throughout. As with most estates, Tignanello experienced spells of rain towards the end of the season, but the steep, well-drained slopes proved a clear advantage. The blend consists of 78% Sangiovese, 18% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Cabernet Franc, which essentially corresponds to the classic proportions." Vinous
"This wine has an extraordinary vigour. It displays a dark bouquet of black cherries, blackberries, violets, woodland, liquorice, bark, carob and leather. Density and tension dominate the full-bodied palate, with firm, velvety tannins. The finish is still a little austere at the moment, but crisp and full of potential." James Suckling
"The Marchesi Antinori 2022 Tignanello is rich and fruit-driven, doing justice to a vintage that tends to deliver greater concentration and body overall. It offers additional fruit intensity with a velvety, silky texture and a generous mouthfeel. The Tignanello offers blackcurrants and cherries, but also a mineral note that keeps things in balance. This is a lovely expression of the vintage, with excellent craftsmanship in delivering soft tannins, texture and length." Wine Advocate
