Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOCG 2021
In 1886, Carlo Campagnola founded his winery in the Marano Valley, in the heart of Valpolicella Classico. In 1907, he won the first gold medal for the best Recioto at the Verona Wine Fair – since then, the family, now in its fifth generation, has continued what began as a small farm. The vineyards for this Amarone are located on calcareous slopes between 200 and 350 metres above sea level, where Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella are harvested by hand at the end of September. The traditional appassimento drying process takes around 100 days until the grapes have lost 35–40% of their weight. Gentle pressing in December, 30 days of maceration, then ageing: 60% matures for 24 months in large Slavonian oak barrels, 40% for 18 months in new Allier oak barriques.

The Campagnola winery's range is based entirely on Veronese wines. In Valgatara, a suburb of the municipality of Marano in the heart of the Valpolicella Classico area, Giuseppe Campagnola attaches great importance to tradition in the family business he has already managed for five generations. He further developed the winery founded by his grandfather Carlo at the beginning of the last century, buying plots of land without haste and dividing his own battery of bottles into the finest wines and base wines.
The top line, consisting of traditional Veronese plants, is named after Caterina Zardini, the wife of the company founder. Giuseppe Campagnola also has its own vineyards in the historically important DOC Bardolino. Pinot Grigio and Glera Prosecco grapes ripen on vineyards in Mortegliano in Friuli Venezia Giulia. The winegrower cooperates with more than fifty winegrowers, mainly from the Marano Valley, who cultivate grapes in the best locations. The suppliers are looked after throughout the season by employees from the winery. Giuseppe Campagnola also obtains fruit from the Soave region. Wines made from grapes from suppliers are a welcome addition to our own production. When it comes to raw materials, however, the wine producer always focuses on the growing area in which his business is located.
The honours for outstanding achievements of the Veneto-based company go back to the beginning of the 20th century. Carlo Campagnola was awarded a gold medal for the best Recioto at the 1907 Verona Wine Fair. His wife Caterina, who gave birth to ten children, continued to run the winery after the death of the founder. Her son Giuseppe took over the historic Antica Osteria Portoni Borsari in Verona, while his brothers took care of the estate and the vineyards. After the Second World War the Azienda was sold and the land was divided among the grandchildren. Giuseppe Campagnola and his sons Luigi and Giancarlo took over the company and started producing the classic Veronese wines. Today, around 700 barriques are stored in the barrel cellar, which was completed in 2000.
Despite the size of the company, the inner unity of a traditional wine house has been preserved. Every single bottle is a testament to the Campagnola family's close ties to their homeland. In the heart of the Valpolicella area, wines with unmistakable quality characteristics and the most valuable attributes are produced. SUPERIORE.DE
"The Beppe Campagnola plant is the perfect synthesis of a corporate structure in the Valpolicella area. The results always meet the expectations placed in them and convince with a style in which elegance prevails over pure power and concentration."Gambero Rosso
