Tenuta Tignanello is located in the heart of Chianti Classico on the gentle hills between the valleys of the Greve and Pesa rivers and comprises 319 hectares of land, of which around 130 are planted with vines. The estate's vineyards include two jewels: Tignanello and Solaia, which are located on the same hill, on calcareous and schistose marl soils of marine origin from the Pliocene, and which benefit from warm days and fresh nights during the growing season. Two wines are produced from these vineyards, which many years ago had the potential to become the starting point of the Italian wine renaissance. Nothing has changed to this day.
The 2022 vintage shows its restrained style in an excellent way. Tignanello is almost never overly fruity and this vintage shines with aromas of cloves and black pepper with blueberry yoghurt. It is full, firm and velvety, with great weight and extraction in the centre of the palate and shows a long acidity that carries the exotic finish with spices and cocoa. A classic that has a long life ahead of it. SUPERIORE.DE
"Rich ruby colour with a dense rim. Rich, very appealing nose of blackberry, blueberry, marjoram and some mint. Lots of precise tannins on the palate, pithy and dense, unfolds with rich blackberry notes, some smoke in the background, lingers for a long time." Falstaff
"Exudes a charismatic aroma of black cherries, berries, liquorice and rose petals; supple in the mouth, the tannins are precise and well integrated, the acidity provides a perfect foundation, has character and finesse until the long finish on notes of cassis and cherries." Vinum
"The rich texture wraps around flavours of plum, cherry, graphite, tobacco and earth, with a line of dusty tannins underneath. It is fresh, elegant and long, finishing with a pleasant astringency. Give this wine a year or two to develop." Wine Spectator
"The Tignanello 2022 is a blend of 78% Sangiovese, 18% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Cabernet Franc. Aromas of red and black berries inspired by potpourri lead to a juicy palate of good intensity. The wine is well balanced and bright, with cashmere-like tannins supporting a core of juicy hedgerow berries framed by a minerality of crushed stone and bitter herbs. The finish is a bit disjointed, showing a hint of warm alcohol and wood that hasn't fully integrated yet, but should get good with time." Decanter
"The Tignanello 2022 is such an elegant, balanced wine. Vibrant acids cut through a core of red Sangiovese fruit. Crushed flowers, mint, cinnamon, rose petals and a kiss of French oak appear later and add remarkable brightness. The 2022 is a decidedly medium-bodied Tignanello, but all the elements are beautifully balanced throughout. As with most wineries, Tignanello experienced bouts of rain at the end of the season, but the steep, well-draining slopes were a distinct advantage. The blend consists of 78% Sangiovese, 18% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Cabernet Franc, which essentially corresponds to the classic proportions." Vinous
"This wine has an extraordinary energy. It shows a dark nose of black cherries, blackberries, violets, forest, liquorice, bark, carob and leather. Density and tension dominate the full-bodied palate, with firm, velvety tannins. The finish is still a little austere at the moment, but crisp and full of potential." James Suckling
"The Marchesi Antinori 2022 Tignanello is rich and fruit-driven, respecting the vintage, which tends to deliver more concentration and volume overall. It offers extra fruit weight with a velvety, silky feel and a generous mouthfeel. The Tignanello offers blackcurrant and cherry flavours, but also a mineral note that keeps things in perspective. This is a beautiful expression of the vintage, with excellent work to execute soft tannins, texture and length." Wine Advocate
